Embroidering on Velvet

Posted in Homefront

Recently someone  asked me embroider a velvet skirt for a Irish dancing solo dress- it has been a learning experience!  You need to hoop the stableizer and spray on an adhesive to attach the velvet to.  I've been told that it would help if there was a long basting stitch bordering the design to keep it in place.  Also,
I need to remember that the design should only be resized +/- 20% for best results.
I'll write to let you know how it turns out.

Well, we did it.  I changed the spray glue to 505 and did a basting grid to stablize the velvet.  The design stitched out with minimum puckering and the seamstress made a gorgeous dress to go on a beautiful dancer.
