Today, we had some errands
to run and took more of a family day. My husband works for the
railroad, so works odd and unpredictable hours. But he is on his
rest cycle at the moment, so things slow down around that so that the
children can spend more time with him.
This morning, my daughter played a memory/math game with her dad.
He would say a number and she would repeat. He then would repeat
it and add a number and she would repeat. She can do about six
numbers in a row before she starts to forget.
We also looked more detailed into how a house is constructed.
"How Stuff Works" turned out to have an excellent section about
building a house http://home.howstuffworks.com/house4.htm We
looked at the three types of foundations and read the
descriptions. We then looked at the pictures of the rest of the
house as it was being constructed. My daughter figured out for
herself that we have a crawlspace for a foundation. We again
emphasized that the foundation of our lives is Christ, and building our
house is like reading scripture and obeying God's word.
At the DMV, my two year old started chanting Backe, Backe, Kuchen, so we practiced the rhyme a few times in the DMV.
