Maybe it's because it is the middle of the night, but I have been thinking about pulling out my notebooks on teaching writing and sorting these volumes of notes and articles into something coherent, and was trying to think of some sort of a way to share, if anyone was interested.
So here is what I came up with. I am considering starting a "Writer's Workshop." I figure Wednesday is a good day, because it begins with a "w." The first Wednesday of the month, I'll post some information on developing writing together with your child, and perhaps do some follow-up sorts of things on subsequent Wednesdays. Topics I am thinking of off the top of my head, from my infamously sketchy memory:
Stages of Writing Development, Mechanics, Voice, Sentence Fluency, Text Structure (that would probably be multiple "lessons"), Introductions and Conclusions, and Focus. I'm thinking a touch of research, link to some blogs to illustrate the concept, provide some additional reading assignments and activities to do together with your child to hopefully promote improved writing skills. I'll do my best to answer any questions, and I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who can provide feedback, as well, if they are interested. Anyone interested? Or should I just continue rambling on Wednesdays as I always do?
Oh, and this looks like fun...a blogger's award! I don't know how I could possibly choose just one because there are so many I enjoy!
Also, I just put up the materials list for my next clay project on my other blog. It is for a cute little sheep.
Oh, and I'm experimenting with some graphics. Until I get everything worked out, here is where I got it from...(supposed to link to use...and they have some cute links, but it will take me awhile to figure it out..so in the meantime, this will do):
