Who am I really?

And will a quiz on Quizilla help me sort that out?  Got this from redmom

Rise

Yes indeed, you see true strength can only be seen when a person has "fallen". Only then can one tell how they will handle it. Just don't make others fall so you can know who they really are. You, on the other hand, may be a very quick recoverer and don't let people bring you down. You are your own, and you're fine with that. Emotional issues are something you handle rather nicely.

Um, yeah. That describes me in a way.  I am rather intolerant of people who seem to just want to whine about their problems and not do anything about them.  And I do believe that how you handle failure speaks volumes to your character.

Oh yeah, and it really irks me when people talk about being out of the will of God and facing spiritual warfare over TRIVIAL matters.  I think we all know these people (hopefully none of you, or you'll never visit me again).  A series of inconveniences and perhaps a rude comment is equated with persecution and the attack of the enemy.  There are real Christians facing real issues and some of us mope and whine because of a flat tire.  I can't imagine this attitude leading to singing hymns with Paul in chains in some Roman prison.  No wonder Christianity seems to be in crisis at the moment.  The prayers of the righteous availeth much.  Not the prayers of the winger.

Christ does not tell us to give up and feel sorry for ourselves.  He tells us to go.  We have the Holy Spirit as comforter.  Make disciples of men.  But to make a disciple, you have to be the master.  And to be the master, you have to walk as The Master walked.  And to do that, you have to know His Word.  And realize that this is not an easy road.  We are promised persecution...and that was not talking about some guy sneering because of educational choices.  We are promised joy, but that comes from hope of something as yet not fully seen.

And just for the record:  the number of typos in the text from Quizilla bothered me, too.  So much that I went back and edited, something I rarely do for a blog entry.  And in so doing (along with taking out all the breaks so this entry did not take up an entire page), I inadvertantly clipped the code that takes you back to Quizilla.  Oops...guess you'll have to visit redmom...but be careful of that biting tongue of hers

No, really, you're safe with me. I've mellowed with age. Now I'll just "think" bad things about you!! rofl

I like what you have to say about persecution vs. trivial matters. So true.

I really liked this post. Sadly, I agreed with most of it. :I I wonder what's up with Christians sometimes. then I realize....sometimes 'those' Christians are me! eeek!

Oh yeah...did I leave that bit out? About how sometimes I'm the winger? Whining about how things could or should be and complaining about how some people just don't get it? Sometimes I really irk myself...

Thanks for visiting!

You are so right. How many times do we hear complaints of the most trivial nature? We need to spend our time focusing on Jesus and on that which is good and profitable in Christ, those which will stand the test of time and eternity. Our character and Christ likeness is produced in those down times, as uncomfortable as they may be.

Good post!

I do agree, honest. But... sometimes those with little faith in Jesus have to learn to trust Him through those things first, before He allows them to experience the more important issues. I know, He's done it to me over the last several years. He had to teach me that when 35 "little" things happen to wear me down (and often, yes, they were attacks), I still need to turn to Him instead of cry and throw fits about how awful my life is. That way, when the one huge thing happens to me, I am able to know without any doubt that He is there.

At this point, my frustration with the trivial complaints and complainers still tends to get in the way of my understanding of the journey God is taking them through. I'll get it eventually.

Just another perspective. : )

Well, I took the test, and my wise quote was pretty right on, "Be kind to unkind people,
they probably need it the most" by Ashleigh Brilliant.

Oh boy, feeling convicted. Got some big things going on, but then the little things mount up & yes, the whining starts. Thanks for this post...

About Me

"Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word, equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude."--Alexis de Toqueville
