TRAIN UP A CHILD....in the way he should go???

DSC02667-2.jpg

PROV. 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: & when his old, He will not depart from it.

The proverbial question~ what does this mean?  It is a very important question, yet the Bible is not specific about this. Ive heard different conclusions to this verse. One friend said, "the way he should go", "that means, individually, each child has a different way to go." (okay!)  Worked for her! Her children turned out pretty good!  Another gal said, "its the Word! The Word is to be used to train up a child, nothing else & then they will go the way of the Word." (Oh! Okay!)  I think I get it now! I think.  So which is it?

Training is the hardest job Ive ever had in my life!  Its seems like you have it all together when they are very young, then they turn a certain age with their own minds & then you realize you failed miserably.  You really see the fruit in the later years.  Good or bad~

With our girls, we did with the know-how the Lord has given us. The older girls are at an age where they can make up their mind how to respond to certain situations & they are accountable. The younger girls, well, they still are so moldable. Our girls are wonderful! We love them dearly, wouldnt trade them for the world! NO WAY, NO HOW!

Its been a learning experience for both my husband & I.  We are forever learning. Daily!  Hopefully we have instilled much into their hearts & our goal has always been to point them to the Lord in every instance. You can get through anything if you go to Him!  Thats all I want to drive into them. Its because of Him! Everything we do is because of Him! Its ALL ABOUT HIM!  I wish I would have known that growing up. So, I would say, the girls have that advantage.  I love my girls dearly & want the best for them. The best is the Living Lord!  Dare I ask for more?

Nice to meet you, and thanks for stopping by. I KNEW there was a reason I misunderstood this week's Homeschool Memoir lesson. LOL
And quite frankly, I'm enjoying others' personal favorite things much better than seeing their favorite web sites.
I liked your post, also (though pink font on black is a bit difficult to enjoy to the fullest). :-)

edited: O....K....I just posted this comment and your blog turned to black on white. Was I blind? Which are the true colors? Am I going crazy? LOL

But I especially LOVED that last picture of your 5 girls. You know what it reminded me of? The All-of-a-Kind Family book series. Go here to see my review of this old "classic."

Have you ever read these books about a Jewish family of 5 little girls and their parents living in the early 1900s Brooklyn New York? Worth reading!

I always say parenting is the hardest job in the world.

The Lord says that if any man asks for wisdom He will give it - liberally. Just for the asking. :) So, I always pray for wisdom in how to deal with my children.

It's all by God's grace...

I heard a really cool comment on 'train up a child...'

It's this ~ The Bible says 'Train up a child... ' Not 'educate' a child. I just took that to mean that we are continually training our children to be Christlike and Christ followers. We need to remember not to get tangled up in 'teaching' them EVERYTHING on EVERY subject in school. We just need to train them. I like that perspective. The education will come as long as we are training them. I also don't think this gives us liberty to NOT educate them. It just frees us to do what God has called us to do and not fret!!

Oh, and on your question of where to get one? Do you mean the 'No procrastinating' logo at the top of my post? If so, it's through image chef. Anti Procrastination Tuesday is where that came from. It's a group of us 'bloggy friends' encouraging each other every week on those not-so-pretty jobs we keep putting off. Check out Canadagirl's site. I think you might enjoy it!!

I stopped by yesterday and saw the new look. No new posts for me to comment on, though. : {

Today, another new look! And, YEAH, a new post! : }

Hugs to you!!
