I am just sick. I went to put on my wedding ring a few days ago and it wasn't where I normally put it. I'm pretty sure it's floating around the house somewhere but doubt creeps in and I think maybe the garbage men will find it at the dump or it got sucked up in the vacuum or went down a drain. Most likely my 2 year old found it and left it somewhere, but in a 3000 sq foot house it's like a needle in a haystack.
Now, wedding rings are important to everybody I'm sure. But this one had some extra attachment to it. I got married with a borrowed band because what we had picked out was supposed to be getting sized but they instead sauldered it together and it turned out looking like melted gold. Not pretty! We sent it back and I used a cheap silver band that I had in my jewelry box for my wedding day. After the honeymoon I got a new ring with a microscopic chip for a diamond because we were young and poor. Boy, did I wear it with pride though. I caught myself quite a man and the ring was gorgeous to me.
A few years ago our marriage took a devastating blow and through much repentance, prayer, and a good God we worked it out and things were better than ever. For our 10th anniversary he bought me a new ring and re-proposed to me. This wasn't just any ring. It signified a new commitment, a fresh start, God's grace and forgiveness, our detirmination that we were together till death and that the enemy was not going to win this battle. It also was during a time of plenty in his career and it cost 5 times as much as the original ring. And now it is AWOL! I've been heartsick and weepy and it's now been missing for 2 days. If you think of it, will you please pray that my ring comes safely back to my finger?
