The History of my Wedding Ring

I am just sick.  I went to put on my wedding ring a few days ago and it wasn't where I normally put it.  I'm pretty sure it's floating around the house somewhere but doubt creeps in and I think maybe the garbage men will find it at the dump or it got sucked up in the vacuum or went down a drain.  Most likely my 2 year old found it and left it somewhere, but in a 3000 sq foot house it's like a needle in a haystack.

Now, wedding rings are important to everybody I'm sure.  But this one had some extra attachment to it.  I got married with a borrowed band because what we had picked out was supposed to be getting sized but they instead sauldered it together and it turned out looking like melted gold.  Not pretty!  We sent it back and I used a cheap silver band that I had in my jewelry box for my wedding day.  After the honeymoon I got a new ring with a microscopic chip for a diamond because we were young and poor.  Boy, did I wear it with pride though.  I caught myself quite a man and the ring was gorgeous to me.

A few years ago our marriage took a devastating blow and through much repentance, prayer, and a good God we worked it out and things were better than ever.  For our 10th anniversary he bought me a new ring and re-proposed to me.  This wasn't just any ring.  It signified a new commitment, a fresh start, God's grace and forgiveness, our detirmination that we were together till death and that the enemy was not going to win this battle.  It also was during a time of plenty in his career and it cost 5 times as much as the original ring.  And now it is AWOL!  I've been heartsick and weepy and it's now been missing for 2 days.  If you think of it, will you please pray that my ring comes safely back to my finger?

Mar. 12, 2006 - Lost ring

Posted by DiWilliams
Oh, I'm so sorry about your ring! I lost my original wedding ring and another ring my husband had given me in high school, one night in the car as he was driving. It was during a really bad time in our marriage, and I threw them up on the dash to express how I felt about our marriage ... and they went through the vents and who knows what happened to them from there. Fortunately the family heirloom engagement ring did NOT go down the vent! Then a couple years ago I took my rings off again for some reason, and couldn't find them anywhere. Finally, I found them ... I have no idea how they got there, but they were under the wall-to-wall carpeting, where it meets up with the tile in the next room.
Anyway, I hope you find the ring!!!

I remember when I lost my first engagement ring. I was so overwhelmed with saddness. I had no idea that it meant so much to me.

My husband and I will be married for 10 years in April. I've asked for a wedding band. I hope that's what he has planned.

I hope that you do find it.

Ohhh, I feel for ya!! You see I have a wedding ring story that probably won't cheer you up. My FIRST wedding ring (the word "first" gives you an idea of how this story ends! LOL) was put down the toilet by my ds when he was 2 y.o. . You see I had one, big, ole, obnoxious ring (appraised at $5,000!!). It was so big (LOL) that it wasn't practically to wear doing every day mommy things. Like I would accidently scrape and draw blood on my dc when changing their diapers. So, I would only wear it when I went out. Big mistake! My two year old at that time thought it fun to put whatever he could find in the toilet and flush...which unfortunately was the fate for my ring.

I just wore a band for about a year after that..never had to worry about scraping anyone with that! Dh bought me a nice, flat, diamond ring to replace the first. I NEVER TAKE IT OFF!!!

I really do hope you find it. :)

Oh Gayle! I'm sorry. I sure hope it turns up soon! I took my rings off once while we were painting this house. I left them on the game cabinet. When I went back for them, they were gone. I had a housefull of toddlers, so I was pretty sure one of them had gotten hold of the rings.

I didn't see them for two years. Me, the person who cleaned this entire house daily by herself...never found them.

Then a person who used to be a toddler came to me one day holding my 3 rings. I asked where they had been, and the 4 year old told me they were in the girls' room. And I was never able to get anymore information about who took the rings and where they had been hiding for 2 years.

Now...if I could just find my wedding Bible.

NO !!!!!! Not your gorgeous ring. For those of you who don't know Gayle in physical form....Her ring is amazing. Sort-of like my own 3 diamond ring, only bigger. muey.

But, I do remember seeing it when you picked up E***** on Friday. Or at the VERY LEAST when I picked him up. I remember specifically since I had taken mine off to clean it. Which made me look at yours, since RINGS where on my mind.

UGH, double UGH. I will pray. God cares about us, even 'small' things like rings. :)

Praying you find your ring. The Lord knows how important it is to you. A good friend of mine lost a ring that was very dear to her. She searched high and low for months and had given it up for lost. One day she looked in a place she had looked many times before, and there it was! Let us know when you find it!

Blessings,

Angela

Okay I have been gone and this is the first post I have read. I am SO SORRY Gayle! I will be praying for you and your ring! When you find it, get it insured right away! You can pay 10% of the cost and get a totally replacement when you lose it. My DH had a friend who told him all about rings when we got engaged. If it makes you feel any better I chipped mine my first year. (Remember I have role reversal). Probably happened when changing my oil. Then the insurance paid for a new diamond! Since diamond prices when up my diamond got bigger. =) No I didn't plan it that way. We will all keep praying for you.

Add another prayer partner to your list. I never go anywhere, including to bed, without mine and would be devastated if it went missing. I'll be praying!

You don't know me, but I happen to stumble upon your story and it broke my heart that something so special went missing. I just wanted you to know that I am praying that you find your ring. I am really sorry that it is lost!! I am recently married(August 2006) and I am terrified of losing my ring. I haven't had it real long, but I sure do feel naked without it. I hope it turns up and again I am sorry.

In my prayers,
Jenna
