Goodbye to a good friend

Posted in Family times

We lost our faithful friend this past weekend.  Our dog, Ginger, had to be put down.  I blogged about her awhile ago.  She became sick and just couldn't recover from it.  We are all sad to see her go.  She was a gentle and sweet dog and we will all miss her very much.  I went on a walk today without her.  That was really hard.  I had been really faithful walking her six days a week for the past month, until she became sick.  It was kind of a lonely walk today without her but I know I need to keep exercising and it will get easier.  The hardest thing about owning pets is that they don't live as long as we do.  They add so much to our lives and really become part of the family which makes it so hard when they go.  We took her up to our family cabin with us this last weekend and burried her up there.  She loved it up there so it seemed the right thing to do.

My oven is working

Posted in Family times

I am so very thankful for my multitalented DH.  He fixed our oven!  HORAY!

It ended up being a burned out wire that he was able to cut and solder and best of all fix it for free.  We though it was the baking element, which would of cost about $75 to replace ourselves.  So, Aztec Quiche is back on the menu for today, baked in my now working oven.  Due to the overwhelming response, the recipe will be in my next post.

Guard Dog

Posted in Family times

I baby-sit a couple of toddlers, ages 2 1/2 and 3.  Yesterday while playing outside they climbed up and sat on top of a playschool picnic table we have on the patio.  I had stepped inside when this happened.  The little boy, Kyler, got annoyed with the little girl, Emmy, and pushed her off the table.  She fell head first, and landed on my dog, a lab/Chesapeake mix that happened to be lying at the foot of the table.  Ginger, being the sweet natured dog that she is, just laid there while the little girl rolled off of her.  I was so thankful for Ginger being in the right place at the right time so that Emmy didn't land on the concrete patio.  This made me wonder how many near misses we have each day where God uses something or someone to avert danger and often we are completely unaware of what almost happened.

It is such a comforting thought to know that He holds us in his right hand and keeps our feet from falling.

I am discovering day by day God's faithfulness to give me just what I need just when I need it most. It is my hearts desire to trust him more completely, as he molds me into the woman, wife, and mother he created me to be.
