Originally, each of us, man and woman, was given the purpose of partnering with God to rule over the world and to make it productive -- in an infinite number of areas -- government, the arts, architecture, food production, worship and so forth. Each of us is created with a capacity and purpose to be productive and creative in life -- according to our drives, gifts, and strengths -- and to glorify God as we rule over the specific dominions he has entrusted kto us. And each of us will be required to give an accounting of how we handled this responsibility -- how we invested our livesin God's purposes to subdue our own little corner of the earth -- the circumstances of our particular life -- for his glory.
I love the previous paragraph. Our vision of our purpose is so narrow and dim. We are partnering with the King! He is our father and He has given us the responsibility of making the world productive and creative. I am just in awe of how grand it is, how important it is. What am I doing with that responsibility? Am I being creative? Am I being productive? Am I inspiring creativity and productiveness in others? I almost feel like I have been promoted. Well, I guess the position was mine all along but I had not accepted it, had not embraced it, had not committed my life to it. I was too busy chasing myself and my own frivolities.
