We have been a family of 12 for almost a year now. Olivia joined our family September 19, 2006. Where does time go??? She was our first home birth!!! What an experience, something we hope to repeat. Our oldest son Jason bought his first house this past December. Jacque started her senior year in college. Aimee started her junior year in college. Heather will be starting her last year of homeschool this fall. Hannah is a sophomore, Angela and Emily will be 7th graders. Ethan will be starting kindergarden. And Karlie and Olivia will be in trouble I'm sure. LOL We took a wonderful trip to Texas as a whole family in one 15 passenger van!!! We had a neice that got married and we wanted to go. It was cold, rainy or should I say.......STORMY!!! End of May first part of June........what could go wrong??? Needless to say, we nicknamed the trip........"Trains, Plains & Rains 2007". LOL Now we can officially say that most of our kids have been in over half of the USA!!! That's about all for now, hopefully I don't wait to long to update again. |

Since my last entry we've discovered that God isn't done with our family yet, #10 is due in September. It isn't the best timing living on a farm and sell produce but we figure we've got 8 more months to prepare. That's a little better than 2 years ago when my husband, Mark, had a farm accident the same day we opened on the farm with our produce. He had come through the door yard with the first load of 2nd crop hay, told the girls he was ready to unload. Everyone went around to the back of the barn to help. Mark wanted to make a few adjustments to the elevator when the large spring decided to go through his jaw. It not only broke his jaw but shattered it which lead to a 4 hour surgery at the UW Madison Hospital. His jaw was wired shut for 7 weeks with a total liquid diet. If this family could make it through that ordeal............we can handle anything. A new baby is such a blessing and an exciting time that we're already planning how we're going to handle this summer. |

With our anniversary in Dec. we always do a family thing and it's usually cutting down a Christmas tree. This will be our 15th year heading out into the woods. Some years we have snow and sometimes its really warm, we never know what to expect except a great time. We'll make a whole day of it. The stories we come back with, it always makes for some wonderful memories. This year "tree" day will be Dec. 10. Even our two daughters that are away at school are coming home to get the tree. One daughter is trying to talk a friend into coming along. Grandpa joins us every year to get his tree. A family picture is taken in front of the tree before it is cut.
A couple of years ago there was about 10 inches of fresh snow at the tree farm. We found our "perfect" tree which was also covered in snow. Took the usual picture, cut it down and dragged it back to the farm. They then baled it and loaded it into the truck. When we returned home as usual very excited to set it up, out came the stand and up went the tree. Remember this thing is very full of snow and is brought into a warm house. Science class quickly came back as we all realized that the snow will melt and rather quickly. LOL What a mess it made. That was one day I was really glad we didn't put carpeting in the family room. This 11 foot tree was dripping and sliding and tipping. OMG what fun that was. I couldn't tell you how hard we're all laughing. DH and oldest ds were laughing so hard and getting so wet. We could have made some bucks with funny home videos if we only had a camera. Our still pictures didn't do it justice.
Can't wait to see what memories will come from this year.

I'm back, kind of forget that I have this going. LOL
Today the girls and I are into the holiday spirit. Some may think it's early, but in our eyes we're always behind. This year we switched our school books to all Catholic (MODG) which I wish we would have done years ago. It is so nicely laid out and gives the girls some "mom" time. School work gets done in the morning with the exception of Heather and then we bake, craft, go to the library, shop and after New Years we want to get back to scrapbooking. Our trip pictures from this past summer really need a perminant home.
Most of my holiday crafts are made, just picked up the cards from the store, the holiday letter is written and now we're baking.
Tomorrow is opening day of deer hunting and it's a big deal in this house. Even Aimee is coming home from school with a friend just for my opening morning breakfast. The guys seldom get a deer but the breakfast is always a big hit.
On Wednesday Aimee will be home along with Jacque to help us with our Thanksgiving meal. Jacque won't be able to be with us for Thanksgiving but she made the comment that at least she'll be able to smell the preparations. We'll take her some left overs on Friday.

My name is Marlene. I've been married for almost 22 years to a wonderful man who's name is Mark. While we dated we dreamed about having a large family. Our oldest is Jason who came into our lives within a year of marriage. Jacque followed within the next year and Aimee within a year and a half. WOW Married 4 years and 3 kids already. After waiting 3 years we added Heather, then Hannah followed within another year and a half. Almost 4 more years went by then along came our twins Angela and Emily. OK, now we need some more space! LOL Six and a half years went by without hearing the pitter patter of a baby, then came Ethan, two years later Karlie. There, that's our family in a short condensed version.
It wasn't until I was president of our local PTO that really made me question the public school system. (I was pregnant with the twins at the time) Before the twins were 2 we were officially a homeschool family. The best decision that we ever made and we would not return.
As of right now we've graduated 3 of our children. Jason works on a local dairy farm, Jacque is a sophomore at a catholic college and Aimee is a Freshman at the same college. |
