Velvet and I are currently reading Black Beauty by Anna Sewell. We purchased the notebook pages to go with it from Currclick . It is a timeless classic. Any child who loves horses should read it.

This is Bert, our black Lab. He has never let anyone train him to anything until Velvet moved in. She has him walking on the leash, sitting and staying and being a pretty good dog!

That's Ernie our Golden Lab mix in the bottom corner of the picture.

We have six Rhode Island Reds we got as chicks in April. They are really big now and the hens are already laying. Velvet's Great grandpa built a new coop just for them. But we still need to get the wire on it. So they are living in the bunny barn. The rooster is Velvet's pet. His name is Little Red.

This is our Calico Mini Rex, Miss Callie. She is a very loving bunny and likes to be played with. She will walk on a leash and collar for Velvet.

This is Miss Daisy. She likes to be petted, but she doesn't like to be picked up.

Green beans , balck eyed peas and turnips in the fall garden. Looks like it needs water.

The white building at the end of the yard is the new coop for the red chickens. It is waiting for wire to be finished. My dad and my sister both live in our back yard in mobile homes. You can see one of them here. The green bushy plants at the left far end are asparagus plants.

Velvet also took another picture of our old fat hens. These girls are so spoiled. They were all hand raised and are like pets. They are very good layers.

Velvet has always wanted a short hair cut. I finally gave in!

We have two different flocks. These beauties are about 3 years old. They are Barred Rock's and lay like crazy. Barred Rock's are also very friendly birds and easy to make pets off. We have 25 of them, all pets!

The little stinker beat me!!!  I demand a rematch!!

Grandma

We worked so hard today Velvet never had a chance to post on her blog. But it was a good! After we finished supper tonight She and I went for a walk. We stopped and talked to some of our neighbors down the road. We live in the country and don't have a lot of close neighbors. Mr McRae down the road promised Velvet a ride on his horse Brock soon. His wife said she would teach Velvet to brush the horse and learn how to earn it's trust. Velvet loves horses and has always wanted one of her own. Who knows, maybe someday! Good night all

Good morning bloggers, this is Grandma, today is the day after Labor and the official "1st" day of homeschool for Velvet and I. We have big plans. Velvet will be on later to update you about our day.

Last years school picture. I went to Brawner Intermediate School. But this year Grandma and I are homeschooling.

Hi! This is  Velvet!   This is  the frist  time my  Grandma and I (Rose)  have done school  together,   I can't  wait to start !!!!!!!
