On July 4, I started itching and assumed it was a mosquito bite. July 5, I went to my brother's house for another cook out and my itching got worse.... more mosquito bites.. maybe? Insects have always been attracted to my fair skin. I itched but it was a "tolerable" itch. Yesterday morning I became awake that mosquitoes were not the culprit though. I had a "rash" and it was spreading. I took a benadryl and went back to bed. I slept a couple of hours but when I awoke, I still itched.
I have not changed detergent, soap, come in contact with poison oak, or anything that I could put my finger on... but I have an itchy rash.
As the day wore on, I itched more and the rash grew bigger. By evening, it covered most of my abdomen and back and my scalp was beginning to itch. I would need something if I was going to sleep tonight so I decided to see my doctor.
The doctor was only in the room a few minutes when he gave me a diagnosis. I was shocked. How could this be? After the inital shock wore off, I began to laugh in disbelief and felt like a little kid...
So what diagnosis did the doctor give me?
I have chickenpox .
