Puggy Sue

Posted in Puppy Love

Puggy Sue is 3 months old.

She doesnt normally wear clothes but the above dress was so cheap that it was begging to be bought. She promply removed it after the picture was taken.

I'm still contemplating whether or not I want to show my dogs. If any of you have experience in showing animals, please tell me the pros and cons.

This is the newest member to my family. Her name is Puggy Sue. I adopted her Friday. I had some concerns because Pugly thinks he owns this house. As you can see, Puggy Sue has different ideas about who owns what around here.

Check out my blinkies. I made some of them. I googled "blinkies/tutorial" and got the instructions. I love playing with Paint Shop Pro. I dont have the time I use to but every once in a while I'll conjure up something. (The picture above was also edited using Paint Shop Pro).

These are some of my Blinkies:

The new puppy

Posted in Puppy Love

Thank you for all the kind words and prayers regarding the death of Bowser.

Kaylee took it far better than we expected her to. She asked about the puppy being at the doctor's office and about his boo-boo. Her parents told her that while he was at the doctor's office that Jesus came and got him. She is accepting of that answer.

Her mom (Karla) was a little (a lot) more upset. She cried and cried. It was difficult on her because she saw the puppy get ran over and there was nothing she could do to prevent it.

The death of Bowser put her back at square one. She again wanted a puppy (a watch dog). She had wanted an American Bulldog when Kaylee chose the mixed-breed puppy.

We once owned an American Bulldog. It was definitely one of the best dogs we've ever had. BUT when Kaylee was born we became afraid that the massive dog would step on her and hurt her so we gave him away.
We kept in touch with the new owners and saw the dog from time to time. He was like a family member to them and never stepped on nor hurt their child. This started her desire to own another American Bulldog.

Today, Karla called the woman who we got the first bulldog from and her son's bulldog had puppies that were ready to go to their new home. They keep their bulldogs in the house and they are extemely well behaved so it was love at first sight. There was four puppies (2 males and 2 females), they were solid white and brindle.

As you can see, Karla chose a white one. Her name is Roxy.

Below you'll find some pictures of adult American Bulldogs.

UPDATE: puppy accident

Posted in Puppy Love

Bowser's injuries were life threatening. The vet said he needed emergency surgery and that he probably would not recover/survive so he was put to sleep.

Puppy Accident

Posted in Puppy Love

I'm sitting here waiting for my daughter to call me back. They got a new puppy a few weeks ago and he's gotten big enough to leave outside in their fenced yard. It almost broke her heart to put him out but the weather was getting warmer and he needed more space to run.

Today, her husband was washing the car and when he went to move the car, he accidently ran over the puppy. My daughter called me bawling. She was not able to get the vet on the phone (it's a very small practice) so I told her to call the large animal hospital located in town. The puppy was breathing but was not getting up. He was crying.

Kaylee is like
Elly May Clampett (Beverly Hillbillies), she wants every critter she sees. She'll be devastated if Bowser is hurt.

Kindergarten

Posted in Puppy Love

Today, Pugly started puppy kindergarten. I have never enrolled a dog in school before but I want to eventually show him so I need to see how he can perform. He jumped right in and behaved as if he owned the class. The instructor was very impressed. She commented that he showed no fear of being handled. I laughed, it's because he's handled by a toddler all the time.. after that, what is there to fear?

For weeks, I'd been asking my husband to buy me a puppy but his answer was always the same "NO". As a last resort, I decided to bargain with him. I reasoned that if he'd let me have a puppy for 6 months and if during those six months, he doesnt fall in love with the puppy, I'll sell it and never ask again. He agreed and bought me a Pug.

My Puppy:

I named my Pug, PUGLY -- which is short for PUG UGLY. Of course, I dont think he's ugly but people always say "Pugs are so ugly that it makes them cute" so I just beat them to the punch.

Pugly is a good puppy. He is adapting quickly to being house trained. He has a few accidents but  mostly it's when I fail to take him out in a timely manner.

He sleeps in a crate (kennel) at night and doesnt cry or whine.

Pugly is 8 weeks old in this picture.

I also have a gray cat, named HAPPY. Pugly and Happy get along like Milo and Otis. I dont think they realize that cats and dogs are supposed to be enemies.

Kaylee's new puppy:

Kaylee wanted a puppy too. Her mom took her to buy an American Bulldog but Kaylee picked out a mixed breed instead. She named him "Bowser". Bowser was a sickly puppy. His mom has mastitis and could not nurse him. He was one of 10 who had been bottle fed. This was a fulltime job and the puppies were small and weak.. but Kaylee wanted Bowser just the same.

Bowser got a trip to the vet and a new home with Kaylee. He was small and had worms but was otherwise healthy.

A prescription, some attention, and unrivaled puppy food and Bowser is on his way to a full recovery.

I am a mother to three grown daughters who all graduated from homeschool. I baby-sit my two granddaughters and use "Before Five in a Row" with them. My grandsons are also staying here while their dad is deployed. My mother thinks I should get a "job" but watching the grandchildren grow is the most rewarding job in the world. Come along as we explore God's world together.

Grand-Kids

Ryan is the oldest of my grandchildren. He is 4 years old and is my Tom Sawyer. He's the quietest one of the bunch but if he's not careful, he can be swayed by Huckelberry Finn. He enjoys being outside and getting dirty.

Kaylee is 4 years old. She is a cross between Ellie Mae Clampett and a Disney Princess. She loves animals and all that is involved with their care but she also likes girly activities. She enjoys learning new things and is always eager for "school".

Rowley is a typical little boy. He is 3 years old and is my little Huckleberry Finn. He's the adventurous one and has to be watched every minute of the day because you never know what he might be up to.

Karsyn turned 2 year old on September 16. She is also an adventurous child. She enjoys cuddling as long as it doesnt take up too much time because she has a want/need to be on the move.
