Chicken Soup for the Mortal Soul

• May. 27, 2008 - Ernie Comes Home...

Posted in Funny
About two weeks ago, I went to our local thrift store. We looked around, found everything we needed, and were heading out, when my Mom said, 'Nick, look at that mug in that display case!

I looked, and this is what I saw:

It was the funniest mug I had ever seen! Naturally, I couldn't resist buying it for $0.98.

I've nick-named the mug-man Ernie. Why? I don't know. It looks like an Ernie to me.

Ernie has not only brought me a warped joy, he's also inspired a new product line.

And, since we luckily have Gimp, Jake has helped me to make some pictures of Ernie, in his average day, heroic life. Here's Ernie:

That's Ernie for you! :-)

Okay,
(On the subject of Harry Potter)
My sister is making me read the books,
and I like the movies.
The last one I went to dressed up as Bellatrix Lestrange,
And my (Older) sister went as Luna Lovegood.
We were the only ones dressed up, sadly.

(My little sister pointed at a bunch of teenagers dressed all in black saying "Hey look! Dementors!"
she was then informed that, no, that was how they dressed all the time.)

I also went to the midnight book opening, also dressed as Bellatrix.

I do occasionally watch American Idol (When I have a whim to do so.......Whim....Funny word.)

Those answered, It is now your turn:

1. Do you like old movies (Like "To catch a Thief" and so on and so forth (Which is a phrase that looks stupid to me when ever I write it out, and is a cliche.... I hate using cliches...)

And 2.
(Which I haven't thought of yet but thought one question would look odd and it would ruin the "Question's in pairs" theme that has been going on.)
Ummmm....Oh! I got it!
Have you ever read "Chasing Vermeer"?
I love that book, and I couldn't think of another question
so.....Hazah! (I like that word!).

~Jacqueline

(Oh, and my (Little) sister wanted to know how to pronounce
your user name....)

Lol, that is a pretty funny mug! I'm not sure if I would like to drink out of it :P

RYC: I'm not sure if you saw, but I posted this on my blog when I updated.

One of my readers commented that in World Magazine there was an interview with the cast and crew of Narnia. The crew said that “Caspian was one of Lewis’s shortest books and that it was really hard to make into a movie.

Some of you may not be familiar with us “Lewis Purists” but basically we are a group of people that believe the movies should follow the books as closely as possible. We are C.S. Lewis fans, not movie fans. Lewis’ books are complete the way they are, so they should be followed to the “t” in movie adaptations. Although in some instances this would be impossible, in many cases it can be done. I don’t mind the addition of minor scenes in the movie, but not ones that change the plot.

My reader also commented that “One major thing they said was that in the books, Peter is supposed to be flawless. But think about it: You’re an almost grown man, coming back to Narnia where you were high king, and then realizing someone else was high king. Now, they could follow the book exactly, and make Peter unnaturally perfect, or, they could make Peter a little more human…”

Peter had enough maturity and enough discretion that he was able to cope with Caspian having the throne in Narnia. This isn’t not being a human or being perfect, it is just showing his maturity. There was never a mention of what happened when the children were in England which is the way Lewis wrote it. In fact, one of Peter’s lines to Caspian goes something like this “I’m here to help you gain the throne, not take it from you.”
---

I think that Peter maybe needed to be more of a role model then a realistic person.

Yeah, lol. Mom and I stay up late all the time. We both work on the computer a ton for business.

Oh really? I didn't know that.
I liked Micheal Johns too. I loved his accent!
It's nice that all of the people who got off get to go on tour and come back on the finale day.
I love those pictures! They're hilarious!
