What started out as a winter challenge to learn how to quilt. soon turned into a lovely and joyful time with my daughter. I’ve never sewn in my life and suddenly she wants me to *teach* her? What a journey. We decided to do the same pattern called “Rail Fence”. She would choose purples and greens and I would choose browns blues and tans to go as a couch throw when complete. The quilt show was coming to town and this year for the first time they add a “Kids Contest” Well, quess who entered that contest? The fun part was not telling the family (nana, papa, etc) so it would be a surprise for them. We kept the secret as long as we could and sent Nana up for a visit along with Auntie K and *W*. Nani from And what a Grande show it was. No, *A* didn’t get first prize, but in our eyes she will always *be* first prize! As it happened, I sold a vintage quilt in the show, never really expecting anyone to buy it, but someone did and through that money *A* was able to score her new sewing machine with all the bells and whistles she could ever want at this time. Next year we are going to quilt something together….what’s on your project list? |
