Much to be thankful for . . .
|
We have so many things in our lives to be thankful for that hardly grab our attention during our busy lives. A phone call from your sister, right in the middle of dinner; Christmas with everyone together; discussions about politics and left-wing media; praying together; filling her hot water bottle, again. Sometimes it is the loss of something so dear that reminds us of all the details that mean so much to us.
Lorrie Ann (MacKenzie) Gnos, wife to Swiss hubby, mother of two practically perfect children, master to one needy dog and rescuer to three stray cats, daughter to parents married over 50 years, dedicated daughter-in-law, grand-daughter to 95 year old grandmother, only sibling to devoted sister, auntie to beautiful niece, best friend to so many and many more she never met, Homeschooling advocate, staunch Republican, lover of HGTV, and blessed to finally be in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Lorrie peacefully passed away in the early morning hours of this Thanksgiving day. She left without fear or regret and was surrounded by loving family and friends in her final days.
I give my deepest thanks to all those who have blessed my sisters life with your love, kindness and friendship, big or small. Every one of you made a difference in her life. She will await our arrival into heaven with open arms and a big smile.

What an incredibly beautiful post. My prayers are with your family at this time. It is hard to know what to say at times like these, but knowing that there are others praying and crying right along with you provides the encourgement we need. That is what I am doing right now.
You have given your sister a beautiful tribute. Thank you for painting a picture of the essence of her life.

I did not know Lorrie in real life, but enjoyed getting to know her through the FIAR message boards. While I am not surprised that God chose to bring her home this Thanksgiving Day I know that this will be a tough time for you all. My prayers are with you all. May our Lord and Savior hold you firmly in His grasp as you mourn the earthly loss of dear Lorrie. May you feel His peace and protection and love.

The first time I came to this blog I was so sad to read about the cancer Lorrie had and that there was no hope for a cure this side of Heaven. My prayers are with the family, and I am so thankful that I have had a chance to "meet" a woman who had so much to share with all of us here at HSB.

I've been diligently praying for your sister. My heart is so sad for her husband tonight. Next year, while sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner....I can only imagine the discussion. A time to focus and say Thanks Lord for this dear woman who meant so much to everyone who knew her.

Oh how my heart aches for all of you today. What a lovely tribute to your sister. I was privileged to find her blog, and to read of her courage, strength, and great faith in her God. Praise God! that she is standing in His presence at this very minute. That she was able to express her thanks to Him in person yesterday. I'm so sad for your loss, but so happy for heaven's gain, and that we will all have the opportunity to meet Lorrie someday and spend eternity with her worshipping God as she is doing right now. My thoughts and prayers will be with all of you over the next difficult days and months as you adjust to life without a dear sister, mother, wife, daughter. May God pour out an extra measure of grace upon you all this day. Much love to you....

Praying for your family during this bittersweet time. Be encouraged today as you allow the sweet spirit of the Lord to envelope you.
"When I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me the strength I need." Psalm 138:3
Another favorite:
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

There are so many who mourn with you and your family at this moment. Even though we have never met in person, a brother or sister in Christ is as close as your own heart. I've not been able to remove Lorrie and your whole family from my thoughts and prayers from the time I found out that Lorrie was ill. I pray that the Peace which passes ALL understanding would FILL you to overflowing at this time. I pray the children and Lorrie's husband are held so close in our Saviors arms and that they know in the fullest the indescribable joy that their Mommy is experiencing at this very moment. The Lord knows each and every tear that we shed and He keeps them. He will one day wipe them all away! Paul said in the Word that our present trials cannot even compare to what which will be reveiled one day..........
2 Corinthians 4:15-18
15 For all things are for your sakes, that the grace, being multiplied through the many, may cause the thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.
16 Therefore we don't faint, but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day.
17 For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory;
18 while we don't look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
May you sense the embrace of our arms across the miles..........
In His Love,
Cathy Nagle and Family

I am so sorry for your loss. May the God of all comfort, wrap his arms around you during this time.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 5For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

I am currently praying for my friend who has stage IV breast cancer. The doctors have told her she will be on chemo for the rest of her life. My prayers go out to you as well that God will comfort and bless you and your family.
