You Are Not My Friend...a poem

You Are Not My Friend

You are not my friend
You do not talk me through a bad day
You do not ease my stress

You are not my friend
You do not celebrate with me
You do not bring me joy

You are not my friend
     You don’t heal my hurts
     You cause me pain

You are not my friend
     You are not my confidant
You cannot hear my stories or keep my secrets

You are not my friend
You do not hear my cries
You do not care if I cry

You are not my friend
Your company cannot bring me happiness
You cannot be happy for me

You are not my friend
You are not my enemy either
     You are just food

Some of you will read this and have no idea what I am talking about but many of you will.  This is my battle cry!  I must do something about my weight before I can't.  I am in prayer of what course to take; I've lost and gained so many time.  This time has to be permanent, it has to start internally, spiritually and that will translate physically.

Wow, that was powerful! I knew what you were talking about before I even read the last line. I've struggled with weght gain and loss for years. At first it was only five or ten pounds, but the gains got bigger each time. Thankfully, I'm losing now, never forgetting that this is a spiritual struggle.

Praying that you find peace with this!

As I started the poem I scrolled quickly down to see if it was food. It was like I could have written it from my own experience and yet I wish I would keep all those thoughts at all times. I feel God is doing a work in my now but it has been many years a struggle. Thank you for sharing.
