Jul. 12, 2005 Konos...never typical
I am so excited to share about Konos!
I have probably tried every curriculum on the market over the last 7 years. I have to admit Konos was my first choice but is scared me. I didn't think I could handle all the hands on. Last year I bought yet another curriculum that shall remain nameless and we all hated it. A good friend of mine brought her Konos book to a Mom's Night Out and I sat engrossed in it. That was it for me, I was hooked! I just wish now I had started with Konos!
Here is what I love about Konos:
-
I love that I can teach all 3 of my kids the same subject at their level.
-
I love that I DON'T have to do everything listed, they are suggestions and I pick what works for us.
-
I love that we still spend a large part of our day together reading, working on projects, etc. even though my kids are 14, 12 and 8
-
I love that Konos is about real books and experiencing the material not just reading a pre-digested text of what someone else thought was important on the subject.
-
I love what I saw when I met Jessica, Wade and their youngest son.
-
I love that we create memories every week not just memorize something for a test
-
I love that we are learning about character along with science, history, etc.
-
I love that if I don't feel like doing school one day Konos will be there without fear that I have messed up the entire year's schedule.
-
I love that my kids LOVE doing Konos and rarely refer to it as school.
-
I love that drama is included in so many of the units. This helps my kids become part of the lesson.
Ok I could go on and on and on about what I love! Seriously though Konos has given me what I always wanted; I have a flexible curriculum with hands on learning (you don't have to make a coonskin cap if you don't want to), real books (no twaddle here) and multi-level learning. I can't imagine have 3 separate science books, 3 separte history books, etc.
The kiddos do work in their own level of math and language arts independently but everything else is working together in Konos. Konos brought home back into my schooling and you can't beat that.
