Sunday, April 1 "Modesty- the Lost Virtue"
What is modesty? Most of the time it is hard to picture in your mind something that fits the definition of modesty. It takes no trouble, however, to conjure up a picture in your mind of something immodest. This series of blog entries on modesty is more geared toward teen girls like myself. If you aren't a teen girl, I hope you enjoy reading this anyways. Some of the principle concepts can apply to things other than modesty.
Going back to the illustration I used at the beginning of this entry, different people have different views on modesty and what it means. That is sometimes why it is hard to define what clothing is or isn't modest. For me, I choose not to wear low cut or way-way-too-tight jeans, to be cautious about how much my clothes reveal about me, and try to make sure my heart is in the right place when I choose my clothes. Other people might have different views on modesty. To some people, wearing a low-cut shirt is no problem if it has a cami under it. At the same time, you don't have to be Amish to be modest with your clothing. We all know that what we think, however, has no bearing unless we know we are on the right track as far as what God tells us in the Bible. I am going to be using a few scriptures over the next couple weeks. I would be thrilled if you took the initiative and put some of the scriptures to memory. When you have doubts about whether something is modest, or are tempted to not be as modest as you probably should, one of these verses will pop into your head. Trust me, it happens to me sometimes. This entry is mostly to get you thinking about modesty.
1 Timothy 2:9-10 "I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God." (NIV)(The Message)
I will probably expand a little more on 1 Timothy 2:9-10 in the next week. I hope you really enjoy this series as much as I am enjoying writing it!!
May your day be blessed!
P.S. Happy April Fool's day!

I'm just curious to know what that first Bible version was that you quoted 1 Timothy 2:9 from...?
Please message me. Thank you!
