This and That
I haven't posted in quite a while. Sorry about that! This one is going to be quite a mix of things, but will hopefully catch everyone up on our lives, or at least the big highlights.
Miriam has been doing SO much better with the diet we've had her on. We have her off of all chemicals, processed foods, additives, food colors, etc. - basically an ALL natural diet. It has done WONDERS for her! Praise God! She's talking better, far less aggressive, is yelling less, and has far better body awareness. She is still in the morning only special needs preschool and seems to enjoy it there.
Susanna is quite the walker now. She can stop, turn, bend down and retrieve things, etc. We're so proud of her and how far she's come! We're now working with her on walking on uneven surfaces (ex: outside) and climbing stairs with assistance. We have finally found a speech therapist for her and she will be getting her evaluation early next month.
Today was an exciting day for nature study. The children found a gray tree frog and named him/her "Sticky." Sticky was a delight. Not only did he do all the usual frog things, but he was able to change colors. When they put twigs in the jar with him, he looked brownish/gray. When they threw in a bunch of grass, he turned green. Talk about neat!!! We looked up gray tree frogs online and learned more about them and also found a link to listen to how they sound. Sticky was quiet the whole time we had him.
We are continuing forward with the adoption of Sarah - 8, Stephen - 7, and Samuel -4 from Liberia and are praying that God provides the necessary funds to bring our children home. Our children are making hotpads and selling them for $5 each as an adoption fundraiser. They are delighted to be able to do something to help bring their siblings home. If any of you would like to purchase some of these homemade hotpads or would like to send us a donation for the adoption, please email me at hallfamily8@gmail.com. Thank you so much!
We're putting in a big garden this year and I'm so excited about it! So far we have in tomatoes, peppers, corn, squash, cucumbers, lettuce, kale, cabbage, green beans, brussel sprouts, and sugar snap peas plus quite a few herbs. We are doing companion planting, which has worked well for us in the past. We still want to get broccoli, cauliflower, and melons into the ground.
Thomas turned 10 this month. I can hardly believe that I am the mother of a 10 year old! The years have gone by SO quickly! He loves dinosaurs, modeling clay, cars, and computer games. Outside, he loves running around, especially if he is chasing his sisters.
Lord bless each of you! |
