I love the 'Welcome Robin' idea. I'll have to check out that book when we go back to the library tomorrow. In fact, let me write it down real quick before I forget.... Gardening.....my dh is the gardner here in this house. I help and the kids as well, but he really enjoys it. I dont have any favorite books, but I am looking forward to receiving a book about container grardening with my kids....its probably in the mail box now. Thanks for the book recommendation.

I just got Square Foot Gardening by Mel Bartholomew, however I must admit I'm more of a hands on gal; I just want someone to show me how to do it! We will be having a small garden square foot garden or two this spring, so I guess I find out by trial and error what works! Melissa

Thanks for the suggestion of downloading the Burgess Book. The kids and I are going to head out to the library today, I'll look and see if its there. I might have to have it sent over from another library like you said, if not. Have you started your garden yet? I have some veggies that we're going to start indoors, hopefully this weekend. Strawberries are already outside, ones that have been coming back for a couple years and new ones I just planted over the weekend. Have a super day!!

hi again! You're welcome for the link. Just came back from the library, they didnt have have the Burgess book :( but I'm going to see about an intralibrary loan. I did, however, find some neat bird books!

Our current garden bed was done using the lasagna method. It didn't quite cook down over the winter the way the author implied it would, but it seems to be okay nonetheless. I'm reading through parts of The Backyard Vegetable Factory right now ... basically about the crops themselves. It has good info about problems you might experience with each and solutions, pollination, etc. There is also a chart in the back that lays out planting times based on your first and last frost dates of the year. It's the most accurate chart I've found for my particular area since we are so different from the norm.
