After several wet days, the garden is exploding with green. It amazes me. There are a few wholes, but those can be taken care of with some plant starts when I get some extra cash. So far our garden is progressing better than hoped for. Next thing to do is install a fence of some sort to keep the chipmonk from eating all the berries AGAIN.
The Morning Glories have sprouted! They are hard to see in this picture. They are the lighter specks.
Look at all the green!
Here are the poor strawberry-less plants. At least the green beans are doing well.
Up-close green beans
The weather has been cooler than average lately. Now if we could just get some sunshine again, the garden will take off even more. As it is, I am excited to see that everything is still alive. (I am not by nature a green-thumb.)

GOOD JOB ! Yes, this year has been cooler than normal for this time of year. ]0= I planted peas and potatoes a few days ago. [0= That was my job given on Monday. [0=
I am learning a lot from my MIL and Handsome in the gardening department. I am starting to day dream of what I want to do in the gardening department. I want to terrece off two areas that would be to hard to work with otherwise. I am going to have to buy the latest square foot gardening. I have been wanting to do more vertical gardening that he talks about.
I think your garden is doing great. Looks like you have a green thumb to me. Squirrels and chipmunks like to eat the seeds. I have a problem with rabbits. Good luck!
Looks great, I am sure your strawberries will come along in time. Isn't it fun to watch the plants sprout! Yours look really healthy!

OH, your garden looks wonderful Jenn! Like a real professional! My dh just finished making our strawberry pyramid and I'm just awaiting him to put the fence around the garden to keep the naughty chickens out, then I will plant and post pictures. I was hoping for a lovely cottage fence around the garden, but my dh is fixing to put the ugly snowfencing up around it again this year. (sigh) Maybe next year! Oh, I love the new look of your nature blog too, and the pretty nature sounds - blogger envy. Have a nice day! Oh, can you email or PM me with your email address too (I think I had it at one time - but have lost it). There are times when I am forwarding things, that I think you might like too. Right now I have pictures of egg to baby hummingbirds that your kiddos might enjoy. I also have a funny cat one that you may or may not have seen on tv.
Just wait and the sun will turn up and your garden will seem to grow over night. We have green beans and sunflowers up and the zucchini is doing well.
I need to get out and string up some place for my pole beans to climb here pretty soon.
I planted some morning glories after your lead and I am hoping to see them sprout any day. I planted foxglove for the first time so I will keep you posted on that.
Yes, I would suggest starting with number one because part of the process is reading the HNS and beginning to apply your thoughts to your own nature study. Even if you do nature study now, which I know you do, there is still so much more we can do and the book really helps change *our* attitudes towards what to expect from our children.
Some weeks you can combine but never skip the reading. :)
Your garden is so organized! It looks wonderful. I know what you mean about the rain and the garden exploding. My perennial bed exploded with weeds! I never saw so many!! Bob's hitting it with Round-Up. It's that bad. ha

Yay! It looks fabulous, Jenn! You guys did a great job planting and tending, obviously. You should be dancing the dance of joy right about now. ;')
I have to wait a little while longer before planting anything. It's way too cold here yet. *sigh* And, I have yet to sort out our Tomato Jungle. (Whoops.)
It's looking good! We lost all our cucumbers and most of the squash and zucchini plants to pickleworms. I don't know if the remaining squash and zucchini are going to make it. We shot out of the 80's up to 95* so all the green beans kicked the bucket as well.
Welcome to my happy little place to learn about the study of nature and all things beautiful. This is my personal nature journal, where I hope to record my fledgling journey as a naturalist and my appreciation for the Master Gardener's creation. I will also display some of my favorite paintings and list some of my favorite living books and quotes. I hope you will enjoy your visit.
