Finally I have a picture of my hummingbird friend. It was at the suggestion of my smart husband that I set up the tripod to try to capture a photo of our illusive hummingbirds. Unfortunately, I could not use flash because of the window and had to use digital zoom, so the pictures were not the greatest, but I finally have them nonetheless.
Aren't they so sweet. I haven't refilled my feeder in a while because we had so many wasps up around the front porch where it's located. The garden boxes look great and I'm trying it next year. Loved the nature walk...especially the cow...she looks so content!

Nice job!
I haven't yet noticed a female at our feeder this year...just a male. We usually have more than one male around and at least one female. I hope she's around......hm...

Oh, how exciting to catch one in a photo. I have the same type of feeder. I finally bought one this year and it has been so fun. We had a hummingbird on it the second day we had it out. I actually need to change the liquid because there are a bunch of dead flies in it right now. ick. I bought my mom a feeder a few years ago from Nature's Workshop that sticks right onto the window and she gets some great pictures since it is so close. She hides along the side of the window so they can't see her and snaps away at them. Have a great day!

Hummingbirds are just magnificent creatures. The more you learn about them, the more you are amazed at God's creation.
I have only captured a few of our humming friends but we have quite a few in our backyard. Chasing each other, chirping at each other, eating and eating at the feeders and in the garden. I love to watch them fly up really high in the air and then swoop down to the feeder. I have no idea why they do that but there must be some reason.
Way to go! Hummers are so fast it's really hard to get a decent photo. We have our feeder set up on our deck near where our table is, and last years hummers became quite friendly with us. But this year, for some reason, they are different. I can't get them to hang around for long.
You ask what kind of camera I have, it's an Olympus Stylus 1030SW. It's shock guarded and waterproof, perfect for nature study!
I loved your nature sound generator so I downloaded one too but mine doesn't automatically come on as yours does. How did you do that?
Blessings, Julie
Welcome to my happy little place to learn about the study of nature and all things beautiful. This is my personal nature journal, where I hope to record my fledgling journey as a naturalist and my appreciation for the Master Gardener's creation. I will also display some of my favorite paintings and list some of my favorite living books and quotes. I hope you will enjoy your visit.
