Feb. 23, 2009 -
Greetings bloggers and previous readers of my blog.
It has been a very long time, as you well know, since I last posted on here, and since then I have no doubt drifted to the far reaches of your memory, if ever I occupied any real place. NONE THE LESS I will give reason for my absence, my reason is simple and I know you all have heard it over and over again “I’m just too busy” well, it’s true, and I am. After all a lot has changed and this is 2009 “the year of change” which reminds me, we have a new president! YAY! Not….who just passed a bill to spend hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars to stimulate the economy and bring us out of this “crisis” Yay! Again not……it's only going to drive us further into debt, help people who got into houses, and bought cars they could never afford, it’s going to make government even BIGER, nationalize health care, and redistribute the wealth. Not to mention giving it to organizations that only further immorality, humanism, and ungodliness in our nation. BUT anyways where was I? Oh yes, I have been busy, between school, music and more recently work, I’ve just been too busy. Yes I got a job, and it pays pretty darn well. As for music, well I play violin for a state high school honors orchestra, and church. Oh and also speaking of music did you watch the inauguration of our dear leader at which Yo Yo Ma, Itzack Perlman…and some other people who I’ve never heard of played? (I’ll assume you did) well, it was prerecorded because it was too cold for the instruments to stay in tune. Once again…Anyways, I’ve been on facebook a lot lately if any of you have a face book account you can find me on there. Now where was I again?
Oh never mind I’ll post again later
God bless.

Oct. 12, 2008 - BUSY! BUSY! TErrrrribly BusY! Much Much To BUSSSSYYY FOR... Well...pretty much everything
YES, My most sincere apologies to y'all, I've just been to busy with school and violin, that I haven't hardly touched a computer. But I digress.
Recently I auditioned for a state, high school honors symphony, made it, that, pretty much takes out Monday, since I rehearse an hour and thirty minutes away from where I live, and for 2and a half hours straight I get to play . Which is awesome, since the music is a little challenging it is really good practice!
That, on top of lessons group classes, and playing for church has me playing violin somewhere around 15hours a week, which is good.
School as going fine, algebra is long and boring as usual……
Hunting here is GREAT, Pig, turkey, deer, DOVE, quail season coming up here in two weeks. And! Since we now have bird dogs that need training, we’ll be quail hunting Lord willing twice a week!
As far as bike riding goes I have gone on another 30miler and several casual 10-15milers as often as I can get out, (But that is for another post, cause, it would take to long to tell you about it.)
This is a little abrupt,
BUT, I must be off, I’ll post again as soon as I can,
GOD bless,

Aug. 18, 2008 - Sunday Bike ride
Ever just hop on your bike and just ride? Well, that’s exactly my brother Anthony, Sam and I did on Sunday after church. Only we rode between 20 and 30 miles......

(Above are the first mountains we came to, the one in the middle we climbed to the top of after ridding to it, and the one fathers on the left we wound up a ways behind that one)

(above: the vews from ontop of the center mountian) ( while we were at the top a Uh-60 flew by)
(the view half way up, the big green hill you see off in the distance, well we rode past that one too)

(
and this is looking back from the top of the hill, those three hills you see, the center one is actually a really NICE cliff, and it is described by every major explorer that explored this area. I'll get some pictures of it up close)

Looking up halfway up the hill
(above: some abandond bleechers, at an abandond field)
Ok, above, is what might just look like a regular, really big, 3ft long grass carpe. But no! My brother is standing next to it! Just kidding! It is a regular dead, 3ft long grass carpe.
It’ what we did with it that made is special!
We took the fish out of the creek (we were on a low water crossing, which is a concrete bridge only a foot above the water and when it floods the bridge is designed so the water simply rises over it.) and we laid the fish on the bridge so it looked like the fish had leaped out of the creek and onto the bridge. The bridge was in a small valley so we went to the top to look around and change a flat tire on one of our bikes. While we were up there we saw some one driving by, as they went over the bridge they saw the fish stopped the car in the middle of the bridge and got out! They took a few pictures, looked at the creek no doubt amazed at how far the fish had jumped out of the water, so far it couldn’t get back in. after about 20 minutes 10 or so people had driven by and stopped to look at the fish!
On man and who appeared to be his wife drove by, and the man immediately stops backs up, gets out, of the car walks around the fish with his arms out expressing to his wife how big it was. All this as she rolls her eyes and tells him to get back in the car. Let me tell you, it was pretty funny!

Above is a picture of a 4’inch long locus we found dead of the side of the road! It was really big!

We saw armadillows total, the whole trip (thats counting dead ones) Here in
Well about 4miles away from our house, still a ways out, (and we had already hear pigs fighting and squealing when we were onto of one of the hills) but as we rode down a stretch of road woods on one side nice plainsy grass on the other, we here really loud rustling in the bushes. So anticipating pigs (it was that loud) we stopped and quietly waited for them to show them selves. Wanting a good picture I got the camera out, but, to our amazement, no wild pigs came out, just two little armadillos. These critters are like little tanks, there is nothing stealthy about the armadillo!

Well that is all for now!

Aug. 1, 2008 - Some Gave ALL

Today is the second anniversary of the death of my cousin Marc Alan Lee, The first Navy Seal killed in
Below are some pictures and information I found on some political web sites regarding Marc’s Mother. and him.
(This is her Profile form Moving America Foward.ORG)
Her son, Marc Alan Lee, was the first Navy Seal to lose his life in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Marc, 28, was killed August 2, 2006 in a fierce firefight while on patrol against insurgents in
U.S. Navy officers told Debbie Lee that her son died after single-handedly holding off enemy fighters as his team rescued a wounded soldier from a rooftop. During the two-hour battle, Navy officials informed her that Marc Lee fired 100 rounds of ammunition against insurgents before he was killed.
(he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star with Valor & Purple heart.)
As the Portland Oregonian noted, “A Navy SEAL's everyday life would reduce most people to sobbing wrecks: extremes of heat and cold, sleep deprivation, the constant specter of danger. It is an existence of late-night phone calls and missed birthdays, while standing watch over the troubled waters of this world so that others may sleep peacefully.”
Debbie Lee has toured the nation, speaking at pro-troop rallies, and helping to organize shipments of care packages to our troops serving overseas.
She met with President Bush and pledged her commitment to use her voice to make a difference in
She appeared onstage at the 2007 Country Music Awards where Tim McGraw presented to her and other Gold Star Parents his new song, “I’m Already Home” which honors those in the
(here is part of a article she wrote. I found it fitting)
It was a warm August evening in Surprise, Arizona and a small group of friends had gathered as they regularly did on Wednesday evenings. This Wednesday was different as we were celebrating my birthday, which was a week earlier but we weren’t able to get together that week. One of my friends had given me one of the Willow Tree Angels named “Courage.” When she gave it to me she told me that it reminded her of me. She told me “To her I was a Woman of Courage.”
None of us knew at that moment how much courage would be required for me to survive that night what was about to happen that would change my life forever. As we were finishing cake and ice cream I received what would be the most devastating phone call of my life. My oldest son Kristofer, had called asking where I was and how long it would take me to get home. When I questioned why he said, “You just need to come home.” I had a sick feeling in my being and I knew what faced me ahead. I knew that when I arrived home that I would be informed that my youngest son Marc had died, being the first Navy SEAL killed in
Remember those who paid the ultimate price for your freedom.
And keep Debbie Lee in your prayers this second anniversary of her sons death.
God Bless.

Jul. 22, 2008 -
Well, as some of you know, last week my family drove up to
We left on Uhmmmm, last-Monday-I think. We got to where my grandfather lives around 5:00 Pm, went out to eat, then all of my brothers and me, went home to our grandfathers house, when we got there it was still light. After un loading everything, I went and grabbed my new pellet gun. (See, they have a problem with Voles (a type of rat) and my grand parents and they’re neighbors Love for us to shoot them) After about 5minutes I saw what I was looking for- A huge fat rat crossing the side walk in they’re garden. And, I immediately shot it, first shot hitting it to far back, so it took another. After removing the pest, my brothers and I continued searching out side of they’re yard, near a dry creek bead. (30yrds away from they’re house) which was where they were coming from. I shot 3more before it was dark, all of which only took one shot.
This is what they look like.
That night we watched a movie until 11ish, then went to bed. Didn’t sleep a bit. So I got up at 06, grabbed my pellet gun and went out to shoot more rats. Before my brothers we even up I had shot 3 more. And then my brother Sam got up and we went and shot 3 more between the two of us. On shot I made was at about 40yrds, shooting off handed. It was really cool, because we say the rat way off, and I was using my brothers shoulder to steady the rifle, but before I could get a shot a bunch of quail can tromping right behind the rat, and I knew they would scare the rat away, so a quickly took a step away from my brother and shot the rat. It took a second or two for the round to reach the rat and when it did it just rolled of the trail and the little quail, passed safely by. Before 11, I had shot 12rats and my brother had shot 3.
Then, when I had come back form rat hunting, still gun in hand. I was looking around a lumber pile next to the house, when I saw the back of a snake, and stood still for a second, I had just barely set my foot down when it sprung up, scaring me half to death!
Then he struck at me as I jumped back. After that he stood there Just like this
only, he stood higher then my knee and he struck at me. My older brother heard him rattling and came over when he saw I said, "should I shoot i?" and he said he said said “SHOOT IT!!!!” so I did. It took a few shots actually. But we got him.
We skinned it and saved the pelt.
Here it is it is. it was about 4.5 ft long. (This picture is mine, the other too are not)
Well, that’s all that was "exciting"
We worked on our house, caught guarder snakes, attended our grandmothers 70th birth day party, and drove hours and hours, and on and on.
(About getting pictures, for my last post. Sorry, I haven't seen my neighbors since, but I'll ask them to e-mail me them when I do see them)
Until then.

Jul. 13, 2008 - About time
Well, think it is about time I updated my blog. And you know how it is with everyone, we all use the same excuse every time we don’t post in a while- I’ve been Sooo Busy"
"I haven't had time" and on, and on.
Well I have been and I haven't had time. My family just moved in 4days ago, and we set the computer up on Friday. We've been working very had to settle our house before we have to start school, before we really start over again here.
But, we have met a few people here, and yesterday was one of our neighbors' son's 12th birth day party.
And for it, he had many of his friends and all my brothers, over, and then we all went to the creek near our house to go fishing. We caught tons of fish and then had lunch. After lunch I took a few people, and brought my canoe over. (I paid one fourth of the cost to buy the canoe)
Then while we put the canoe in loaded it up (with have the party goers), while the rest of the people we all swimming in the creek. and we left them with half the people from the party, we went about half a mile down stream to some old mining equipment that out only out neighbors, and now us know about. There we all pulled the canoe onto the land and (over near to mining equipment the water is deep enough to jump off the mining equipment and into the water. (Which we did for a while). Then we left to get the other half of the party, on the way back my brothers decided to flip the canoe to surprise everyone on board. And we did, twice dumping everyone on, into the creek. Also at one point we had several people on the canoe and we were going really fast, we hit a low hanging tree limb that was over the creek, when we hid it and it smacked everyone onboard, as it did, it dropped hundreds of little spiders all over us and the canoe. So, we quickly capsized the canoe, which washed the pests off. We then flipped it, bailed it, and got back in.
Before the day was over we had canoed, fished, and swam, for 5hours straight.
Now, what made the occasion particularly fun was, being the oldest guy there, and put in charge of the canoe the other people (unlike my brothers listed to me, ad respected me, says allot about brothers in general)
Well I need to go to church now.
I will ask my neighbors who took lots of pictures, to email me them.
Then, if I find the need I’ll post them.
Untill then'
Luke

Jun. 20, 2008 - Cannon
here are some of the videos.
The clip where we shoot the milk jug, the jug was full of water, and the huge plume is smoke and water, the camera, and every thing around it was covered in mist. And, the bullet went through, and far into the field behind it.
The Mc'donalds cup was also full of water, and was vaporized
(TAKE NOTE)
I usually use the cannon on concrete, and the cannon simply roles a few feet back, but on the grass it cant exactly role, and the recoil has to go some where. So it goes flying.
ALSO, it is a real gun, and necessary safety precautions were taken, (by that I mean, look down range and around to make sure no one is past the firing line, light it, and RUN.

Jun. 5, 2008 - A series of dumb things I've done. Part ONE
This post was inspired by another blogger’s post (baptistgrits). . When I was about four or five, my dad took my older brother and me to a petting zoo, at this particular petting so they had some little Gazelle in a pen, and the gist of the story is, my dad turned his back, and my brother and I went into the Gazelle pen, my brother preceded to lay hold of the Gazelle by the antlers as I hopped on its back. I then put a sturdy grip on its antlers, and my brother let loose! It was great! Unfortunately our enjoyment was abruptly ended by the shouts of other concerned parents and zoo employees. Some people just don’t take to kindly to rodeo prodigies like my brother and I. As you can imagine we were kicked out of the zoo, go figure?
Please note. These are the funny and intertaing stories. Also note, the only mistake I've made twice was trying to reason with HANNAH PHILLIPS.
Like her, and most people, I am one who learns from my mistakes, and as often as I can (or preferably) other peoples. So in this post I’ll share a few of the many mistakes and dumb things I’ve done.
On another occasion, when my family was stationed in Elpaso Texas, and I was five years old, there was some construction going on behind our house, and the construction workers had pilled a 20ft or so high pile of boulders and dirt. My friends, brothers and other neighborhood friends had constructed a slope, to ride bikes and other things down by clearing the rocks and sharp stuff from that side of the hill. And we would ride bikes and big wheels (for those of you who know what those are), down the hill. I’m sure you all can see where this is going……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….Well you’re wrong, I climbed to the very peek of the hill, and fell face first down the non cleared and all rock side of the hill. Aside form some bruises, I had landed on a particularly sharp rock and cut my head right by my eye, I got 5 or 6 stitches and a few staples. Let me tell you, it left a pretty cool scar.
Alright, a few years later when I was eight, while stationed in
Ok, on a les hot and burring occasion, my three brothers and I were staying at our grandfather’s house in
Oh did I mention it was SOOOO COLD.
I’m not going to have time to do the list of 13instanced like those above, right now, but maybe this will make for a good series of posts. None the less I have time for one more!
This is form a few months ago.
My family had gone raspberry picking at an old farm. At this far there was one restroom and it was right next to the old barn. His barn was built into a hill so one of the entrances where the restroom was at the same level as the roof of a building added onto the barn. As I waited for the restroom, which some one else was using, I notice the roof was made of steal, or aluminum. I thought “hey that’s pretty neat” and walked over to it and tapped very lightly on the metal roof, suddenly I was surrounded by a swarm of angry yellow jackets. I took of running for my life, while doing that I was stung four times twice on my knee and the other two times on my chest. Once I felt safe that I had lost the swarm of angry insects, I could not help but laugh at how dumb that was, and how much my knee was burning and swelling.
I really want to write the other stories right now, but that would take me all night.
I haven’t even gotten to electricity, and have only covered one instance out of MANY that had fire involved. So I will have to get to those.
Until then,
don’t bang on metal barn roofs, and God bless

May. 26, 2008 - Another real post.
Well, this week my dad flew out to Idaho to bury his mothers ashes next to our great- great-grandmothers grave, and to do a memorial service with his moms (my grandmothers) family, that couldn't be there for the her first memorial service.
In this post I've put a picture, of my dad, and my grandmother in 1969. Which was on the program at her memorial service.
Also I put a copy of the short biography that was on the back of the program at my grandmother’s memorial service.

(This might have been the ruff draft, I'm not sure..................)T
GOD HAS HONORED MY PRAYERS
My mother grew up in the 20s and 30s during the great depression as the third of five children. Her father died when she was only six and her mother struggled to raise the family on a widow’s pension. Because of the difficulties of her youth she had a special place in her heart for the poor and needy, especially little children.
As I grew up, she worked hard to provide for her family by working in a convenience store. She worked many nights but never complained. She never wanted to see anyone go hungry and I have memories of her paying for food for homeless and poor people that came through her store. She always supported me, loved me and provided me opportunities that she never had. Her and my dad’s greatest goal for me as a young man was that I get a college education.
After I was married and had children of my own, she spent many holidays and special occasions with our family. She deeply loved each of her grand children. When we finally had a daughter after four sons, “Mama Marge” as she was affectionately called, was present to see the birth of our own little Margaret who we named after her. We have many wonderful memories of her sharing the ups and downs of my Marine Corps career.
During the last few months of her life God gave us the gift of having her in our home. All of our family had meaningful time with her and she was able to build a special bond with our youngest daughter Esther, age 3,
God honored my prayers for her by allowing me to hear her proclaim Jesus as her Lord and savior, and hold her hand as she left to join him.

May. 25, 2008 - Late thanks Giving Dinner
Today I
am going to do a real post, for those of you who have had to bare with TheLandOfPink's arguing and my beating her at it.
So, for that last three weeks or so my brother has been going out to a friends land in hopes of shooting a Gobbler (a male turkey) and we knew there was one out there, just for 70hours he hadn't shown himself. Until last Thursday!

At about seven O'clock in the morning. The way we have been hunting
The turkey my brother shot, and I wish I shot, was a trophy bird, he had a 12inch beard, and the spur (in the picture below). was over an inch and a quarter long.

Then on Thursday, we had out late thanks giving dinner, Turkey, Gravy, Cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, THE WORKS, Now, I am not usual a huge fan of turkey, but this turkey was really good.
On Friday we had turkey noodle soup, and not a scrap of the bird went to wast.

After my brother got his turkey, he and I went out to see if we could get the Tom that my brother saw this turkey chase off. (A tom is a one year old male) When I went, It was cold and rainy, but I still saw three hen turkeys and a fox. When my dad went out he say a hen and heard the Young Tom gobbling.
