it snowed again today, but it'll probably be gone by afternoon or evening. this is how i like it: if it's summer, it should be as warm as possible, not cold. if it's winter, there should be lots of snow, and NOT just little skims that melt away, if there HAS to be snow, i would rather that it does it's best, and brings on the feet of snow! anyhow... thats how i like it.... do you? mom sure doesn't, anyway, silas is kicking me off the puter now, so- BYE!!! |

here are some poems by me! hope you enjoy them!
An Autumn Poem by Haven Fehler
A bit of a chill in the air tells me that we're almost there- to winter, the cold, the ice i wish it could just always stay nice... Like this, the bright colours lying in cushy beds oranges, yellows, golds, and reds whipping up and dancing, when the wind sends them prancing. I wish it could always stay nice, away from the cold, the snow and the ice.
Scenic October
The wind carries an icy chill As sharp as a porcupines pointiest quill Leaves are frolicking in the air, As the wind kicks up a gustier flare As I walk along with my hands in my coat I think about this poem that I wrote, And wonder if it describes this scene As good as a beautiful scene you’ve seen?
A sleepy september poem
leaves are orange, gold and red as I look out from in my bed my sleepy eyes see the colours blurred, as my sleepy ears hear the chirp of a bird I look out at the spreading dawn and suppress a very large yawn and then i walk out to the lawn covered in leaves like a thin coat of paint they whirl up as I jump without restraint their bright colours enveloping me as I get up, for a cup of hot tea well... hope you enjoyed that! bye! luv<3 Havie! |

the cutest thing happened to me yesterday, a little boy was coming around with a large green stone, at mom's fiddling concert, and as he went by, everyone made a comment on how pretty it was, so when he came to me and held it out i said "what a lovely colour, so pretty." he also had a little stick with him, and i soon knew what it was for! once he had carefully stowed away his stone, he came to me, and i guess my compliment wasn't lavish enough, so he came up, and hit me softly on my leg with it. i raised my eyebrows at him. and he ran away. i could hear his mom saying he had to say sorry, and so they came up to me. the mom said "say sorry honey." he looked miserable. he stood there a few minutes, then came up, never hesitating and hugged me! isn't that sooo cute?! i guess it's his way of saying "sorry"! well *kisses* haven. |

FORT CARO CARO
It was a beautiful day in the Caribbean seas. On the island it was big enough for four mansions and a teeny tiny town. Town, as in a food hall and a few playgrounds, beaches on the sides they could see, and a small church. On this island were many children. Nineteen, in fact. Most of them were out biking or playing right now, except, of course, the babies. There was a large fountain in the middle of the town, that was where they got their water from, for all around them was salty seawater for miles and miles. This island had many plants and trees all over. Though their houses and “town” populated half of the island the other side of the island was unexplored.
Four girls who were between the ages of twelve and nine biked across from the fountain and whirred past a small toddler eating a cookie (that no doubt Charlotte, the pretty, dark haired young cook who cooked for them on the island, her past was a mystery so was why she scanned the sea as well as she could, each morning, and once they had even found her in the Fort Caro caro with sad remembrance in her eyes, but as soon as they found her there she rushed out and pretended not to know what they were talking about when they asked her about it later) “Hey, Uly!” the second girl yelled out as they sped towards the park. The toddler waved his chubby hand at them. Once out of sight of the toddler, the girls stopped their bikes and looked around.
“Now?” asked a girl about ten, she had an oval face with a light tan and bluish-greenie eyes and caramel brownish gold hair she had a carefree happy face scattered with a few freckles, and seemed to make all around her like her,
“Shush, Sloan, wait until we’ve seen if no-one is here” a girl about thirteen with a bit of a tan, rather light gooseberry green eyes and white-blonde hair with a pretty nose and a responsible, kind, look about her said, as she looked around all the playground equipment and buildings.
“I guess now”, she said as she turned to the other girls. “But hurry!” the other girls quickly got on to their bikes and they started off towards the dense jungle on the unexplored half of the island.
“Whew” said the nine year old girl “we’re here” she had white-blonde hair and light gooseberry green eyes as well, along with lots of freckles that added to her charming appearance. the last girl about ten as well had brown hair with some highlights, and a bit of wave, she had oval glasses and ocean mix of grey-blue-greenie colours. The girls put down their bikes and went to a small hole in the undergrowth all four got onto their hands and knees, then crawled through the hole one at a time. When they got to the end of the hole and stood up they all gasped in awe.
Even though they had been there many times before, the girls still gasped in awe when they went in. There it was - the tree. It was their tree, it was huge, it was massive, it was a Caro Caro tree only twice as tall as normal, but they just called it The Tree. It was 70 feet tall and the trunk was very, very wide. A rope ladder hung down from up in the leaves but the girls didn’t use it, instead, they went over by the tree and looked behind. There was a small waterfall. They went very close to the tree and slipped in.
They found themselves in a small room with a twisting staircase leading upwards. Slowly they walked up until they got to the top. They came up through the door, looked around and smiled at each other. They were in a large wooden room with walls made of glass except where doors were. There was a bit of wooden wall around each door, a flat tin roof with a wooden trap-door on it, a small green sofa and six doors on the wooden walls.
A wooden sign about 2 feet high and wide stood at the end of the room, on it was printed in green ink, (in slightly crooked writing)
“Club Caro Caro, members in age order: Cairo 13 years, Haven 11 years, Sloan 11 years, Carrie 10 years”.
Cairo smiled, “who wants to go for a swim?” she asked, “I do!” they shouted, “one at a time” said Cairo then they each went into a small room and came out in their bathing suits without their backpacks and went through the trap door on the flat tin roof. They came up on the tin roof and all of them sat down except Carrie (the nine year old). She walked over to a wooden slide. It had been sanded and varnished it was a reddish brown colour it went down about six feet and stooped about sixty-four feet from the ground, it was a long drop. She let out a long shivery sigh and started sliding downwards.
“AAAAHHH!” She screamed as she dropped from the slide.
She closed her eyes but knew she was safe; for just at that moment she landed on a large round swing made of the same wood as the slide. As soon as she landed on it, it flew off the light hooks that were holding it’s brim and sailed through the air it went lower and lower. But then started to go up again it went over the waterfall, which had a large, deep pond on top, she looked down when she was over it and was just deciding she could never ever jump, the swing gave a queer little jerk which launched her into the sky. She landed in cool water and called up to the other girls “come on down the water is nice and cool!” The swing came back up and, with no weight on it; it hooked onto the hooks easily.
The next girl went down and yelled as she went down “you're lucky I even play with you!” Then it happened all over again. They had lots of fun swimming that afternoon then went home. Quickly they went to their parents told them about the fort and begged their parents to let them sleep there overnight “well OK” the parent reluctantly said “but take some thing to make your breakfast with” they handed the girls some pancake mix, some sleeping bags and each of them a pair of clean pjs.
They went to their fort and prepared their beds then took out a bag chips they had brought and went into the last door where there was a mini TV where the watched a movie then each girl went to their room, but soon they got scared, and huddled together in one room and locked the door, but eventually fell asleep.
Haven was awakened in the middle of the night by voices “come on Oren it took long enough to climb the tree and get in the window” said a high pitched nasally voice “here is a place to spend the night, look! It even has beds!” then the second voice came in, a deep rumbly voice “I don't know, Sam, this door is locked, it might have someone in it!” Sam said, “aww you're just a party pooper, only babies believe in monsters, I'm sleeping in this room! You big baby bottom!” “Well!” said Oren “I guess I'll sleep in this room then!”
As soon as she heard them snoring she quickly shook the other girls “ wake up!” she hissed “there is someone in here!” Sloan sat up and said, “I know. I've been listening to them too!” slowly the other girls woke up. “Wha-” Haven clamped a hand over Cairo’s mouth “Mmf!” said Carrie having found Sloan's hand over her own mouth. “We have to be very quiet and sneak out” they said in unison whispers, “all right” whispered Carrie “I'll sneak out and grab our clothes, so that we don't have to go back through the jungle in our pj's!” she hopped out and was soon back with their clothes and backpacks. Slowly they opened the door and went to the door that went down to the jungle but it was jammed! Their faces went pale and Haven let go a little cry of surprise, then they heard something behind them the door to one of the rooms the girls hadn't used was opening! They crouched against the wall and were very silent.
Sam's voice came through the darkness “I'm sure I heard a squeak, I wonder if tree houses have mice?” he began to yawn “Oh-h-h-I'm-so-tired-never-mind” but just as he began to close the door Cairo's tired head began to nod, as soon as she realized she was falling asleep she jerked her head back up, unfortunately a little too far up and it hit the wall! Sam appeared to wake up “aha!” he cried, “there’s something else! I'm sure someone’s here!” he began creeping around getting closer and closer to where they were and chuckling to himself all the way. Then they were found! “Aha!!!!!” yelled Sam, and Cairo slipped away and went through the trap door on the roof
“what have we here, three girls snooping around, eh?” the girls were paralysed with fear, suddenly an idea came to Sloan she pointed to their mouths and shook her head, “mmm” said Sloan. “So you can't speak huh?” said Sam “too bad it’s been years since I heard a human voice beside Oren’s and its not very pleasant I can tell you”.
“Well then I guess I can’t ask you any questions that aren’t nodding and shaking head questions, so which one of you hit you’re head on the wall?” the girls looked at each other, where was Cairo?!!?? Their eyes were wide and they were trembling finally Sloan pointed to her head “really?” said Sam. He was a small man, perhaps a dwarf, he had stringy sandy hair not quite shoulder length. He was unshaven which you could tell because there were dirty stubby hairs coming out of his small pointy chin, his face looked evil and sinister. He was wearing an old jean jacket that was much too large for him, and a pair of pants that might have once been jeans but now, were just plain brown from mud and dirt. “Oh Oren,- come see what I found” he yelled in a singsong tone.
Out of the room over from Sam’s came a large man, no let me rephrase that, a GIANT man he made Sam look like a dwarf for sure! He had long black hair tied with a bit of twine behind his back and a long beard but his eyes agate grey and filled with aged sorrow, but not bitter sorrow, he looked kind, and the girls saw in his eyes he wanted to save them. He was wearing the same kinds of clothes as Sam but much larger and slightly less dirty
“well I guess we could lock them up in one of the rooms...” said Oren rather doubtingly, and Haven thought he said rather unwillingly “until morning.” “yes, yes YES!” said Sam. They pushed the girls back into one of the rooms and the girls heard them click the outside lock. Sloan quickly whispered to Haven “Cairo must’ve gone for help, they should be here soon” she thought for a while then added, “I hope”
back at the houses Cairo was quickly waking the fathers and telling them about what had happened. They quickly dressed and hurried out towards the fort. “here we are.” Cairo said as they arrived. The fathers tried to squeeze in one by one, but couldn’t. “I’ll go in” said Cairo waveringly “you wait here”, the fathers tried to get her before she went in, but they couldn’t. Cairo made her way silently up the tree until she found the other girls quickly she untied them “we have to go find them, the -er bad-guys I suppose” she said. None of them wanted to go. Finally Carrie said she would. “The youngest doing all the work,” she laughed nervously as she crept out of the room.
The fathers down on the ground were trying to figure out a way to get in. finally they discovered a way to sidle in. immediately they raced up as fast as they could just in time.
Carrie crept silently up behind Oren and started to tie his hands up, it worked! She rejoiced in her mind. just one more to g- she fell to the ground unconscious, Sam had crept up behind her with a large rock.
The fathers raced into the room to see a short man with a large rock, and Carrie, unconscious on the ground.
The fathers were armed, and cautiously found the other girls, tied up the bad-guys, and went back. The camp was ablaze with light, the mothers were worried by the short explanations of the fathers as they slipped out, and the children were up. Charlotte was up as well looking rather confused then rather eager.
As the men were brought into camp, charlotte looked up and saw the Oren, her face was one of surprize but not to much, as if she wanted to trick them into thinking she was surprized, but she wasn't really, then of joy. “daddy!” she cried, flinging herself at the taller man. “charlotte! How did you get here?!” he asked her. “I was about to ask you the same thing!” charlotte cried happily, the father and daughter explained thier stories to eachother.
it turned out, after her mother had died, her father went out on a one year sailing excursion in the carribean seas. Thier ship had been attacked by thiefs who had badly damaged the ship, and it was sinking when the robbers had left, so oren had crept on board thier ship, which had wrecked on this island, one year ago.
Charlotte then explained that when he had left, she was very lonely, and when these people had announced they neede a cook for thier island food hall, she had immediatly applied, thinking maybe her father would go by, and if he didn't, she would return at the end of the year she had been hired for, it was almost the end of the year. “and now you're here!” she cried.
After that they went to the police to confirm the details of the story when they found it was true they hired another cook and went back to thier island.
As they got back, four girls race out to one secret fort. They got there, sat down, and thought they would remember thier adventures with this secret fort and private island, for the rest of thir lives.
I hope you liked my story!
'cause now it's bye bye time! |

Book report by Haven Fehler on: Lacy Makes A Match by Patricia Beatty “Lacy Makes A Match”, by Patricia Beatty, is a book that girls between 10-13 would probably enjoy reading. “ Lacy Makes a Match” begins with a girl named Lacy who was found in an Indian basket in lacy, fancy, frilly baby clothes back in 1882. She tries to take care of four very picky men; her three brothers and her pa, after her adopted ma dies when she is only 13, and she tries to go to school at the same time. She isn’t getting good grades, and they don’t like her housework. What should she do? Her pa gets her help from town, but still it’s too much work. Suddenly, her oldest brother elopes, which gives her a happy idea: to try matchmaking! The story is about her trying to keep up her grades, run the house, and marry off the other two! This is a very interesting story, in which she has many adventures such as “getting her head cut off” in the circus as a circus trick! Eventually they all marry off, no, that’s not quite true, the last brother you just see riding off into the sunset with... oh I can’t tell who! Will the secrets of her past be unveiled? You’ll have to read it to find out! I would recommend this book because it has interesting characters, a pretty good plot and a nice setting. |

I didn't want to tell anyone my secret plan, but i hoped, as we practiced our songs for the Premier's Prayer Breakfast, that i would get the chance to talk to Premier Ed Stelmach about abortion. You see, in our province, the government has recently begun "delisting" insured health items. Diabetes is a disease that is not covered - people still have to buy their own syringes and insulin (although doctor visits are covered) - but sex reassignment surgery was still being covered, despite it being an operation that is never necessary to save a life. (Although some of its proponents will argue that these "transgendered" people have a higher suicide rate before surgery, it is even higher after the surgery). So in all the hullaballoo, i was hoping that one big ticket item would not be completely ignored. Abortion. It hurts my heart and makes me sick to my stomach that my hardworking husband's tax money goes to fun the deliberate murder of unborn children. I wish we could move again so that it would not be the case, but there are no jobs in New Brunswick. (We've checked! And will continue checking!) In Canada, health is a provincially regulated agency, although the federal government does dip its oar in all the time to "mandate" "equality". But Alberta would not be the only province to not fund abortion if it decided to do so. And even defunding would not make abortion illegal (which i think should be immediately done!) - it would just mean that people like my husband and myself would not have to pay for other people's "choice" to murder their own children. The pro abortion people like to talk about "choice" - but we have no choice in supporting it when our taxes are used to pay murderers and buy equipment for this completely unnecessary, non medical act. Not only that, but we are trapped in a web of "health care" where all the "health professionals" are, if not complicit in the act, are trapped into toeing the party line and duped into pretending that abortion = health care, which it does not. Pregnancy is not a disease, a baby is not a growth, abortion is murder. So, finally at the end of the breakfast, i was waiting to slip through a little line of people to get back to my table, and the Premier was right there in front of me. I saw there was line of people, but the line just kind of dissolved, and my sister was beside me, and we walked over to him and i just said "This may be the only time I get to talk to you face to face while you are Premier..." and explained to him my thoughts on defunding abortion. He took a minute to listen, and answered thoughtfully, about practical ways to stem the tide of abortion, about involving the federal government, political kind of words, but from his comments, i knew he heard me, and understood what i was asking, and that in his own way, this was something he was mulling over, not necessarily that he will do it, but that this was something that he had thought of - that abortion is so widespread, and it's such a cancer for society. My sister jumped in with talk of ultrasounds being available, and i piped up about the younger generation being more pro life on average than their parents, and our minute was gone, but i was so glad that God gave me that oppportunity to speak from my heart. I felt like one of the suffragettes or abolitionists may have felt, only i wasn't as bold as they were. I almost wish i had just pleaded for an outlawing of abortion in Alberta. I did mention that there are many many women like me who were ready and eager to take in an "unwanted" baby... but defunding abortion is something i can see as a possibility right now, with the economic climate the way it is... Please pray with me, that God will work in the hearts of our legislators and turn the tide of the ocean of indifference and apathy and lack of love that has led us to the place we are now... And please pray for Ed Stelmach - God has placed him where he is for a reason, and if all he did with his time in office was to defund abortion, he would have saved many many lives... |
