sleep deprived

What a night I had.... It all started out okay.  We had Pancakes for dinner last night, and afterward I got everything cleaned up.  The girls had taken their baths, and my husband was in bed at 6:30 last night.  Here I was thinking, "Great, I can read my book, have a little 'me' time, and then go to bed early."

Hah!  5 minutes after I laid down at 10:30 my son was coughing in his crib.  (He's had a cold for a week or so.)  So after a while of him coughing, I get up to get him a drink.  I then leave to walk out his door and he screams bloody murder at the sight of me leaving his room.  So I pick him up thinking he'll just go right back to sleep......how wrong was I.

Ironically, earlier that evening I was thinking how great it would be to have another baby....3 hours later at 1:30 in the morning he finally went to sleep and I remember what it was like when he was a tiny baby, deciding that I need to get a few more months of sleep before I can have another one.

To top it all off, I thought I would at least get to sleep in, but my child who usually sleeps until 7:30 or 8:00 woke up at 6:30.

I just felt like complaining a bit to everyone, thanks for listening.

Have a wonderful day, and God bless!

That stage iin life is NOT always fun. Sick children are so heartbreaking. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Poor guy. Poor mama. Nights like that are hard on both of you. I hope you had a chance to rest up a little, and that Little Man is feeling better soon. I hate the cough thing the most.

You know, doing with whatever amount of sleep you can get does get easier with each additional child. I remember that after Jared was 2 years old I woke myself up a few times a night because I kind of missed being up and around while everyone else was asleep. I'd even go grab a sleeping child to rock for a while.

I just got back into the habit of sleeping all night when Abe came along.

But doing without sleep is like riding a bicycle. You just hop back on and soon you are sleepless like a pro.

Shurleen must've written her comments while sleep deprived!!!! She's nuts. It gets more common, but not really easier. LOL. I have a little window of about 3-6 months of sleeping through the night between when older-baby finally learns to sleep through and younger baby is on the way but hasn't yet been born, but before pregnant bladder and carpal tunnel start waking me up. I'm not in that window right now. But I'm sure someday I will miss these sleepless nights. Right? :-)

Nights like that lead to days where I fall asleep while I am reading to my older children!... Hope you can rest up now, as it is a couple of weeks since your post.
