Free Simple Photo Manipulation Software.
Nov. 26, 2006
If
you have digital photos you'd like to upload to your blog, but the pics
are HUGE, this is a simple *free* program you can download to resize
them. (You can do some minor editing, too, such as changing to
greyscale or inserting text.) To download this program click on this link: Photo Software - and select "save to disk".
You'll be downloading from a site called
"mysideoftheinternet.com". That's just a site I have in order to
store files and programs, so please don't be confused or alarmed if you
receive a security notice warning you that you're being taken "off
site".

I downloaded this program, but Windows Security is telling me I should not run it because it does not have a valid signature. How do I know this program is OK? Obviously you trust it-- can you offer me any reassurances? (I am not very internet savvy.) Sorry to question this, but I'm a little paranoid and wanted to be sure. You can post your answer here on your own blog and I will check back.

Hello! You're getting this warning because my domain doesn't have a registered signature. I could pay to have it upgraded, but there really isn't any reason for me to do so. I don't collect anyone's personal info or sell anything requiring payments/credit card numbers or anything of that nature and for the most part, I simply use it to hold my own files and photos. The expense of having a "valid signature" doesn't seem worth it to me. Because Windows doesn't know or recognize "mysideoftheintenet.com" it is giving you this warning to make sure you aren't downloading something harmful (or even illegal). It's a standard warning for all websites that don't have secure servers or registered signatures.
I realize you don't know me personally and so you have a legitimate concern. The only assurance I can give you is I have this program on my own laptop and on my son's computer and I never would've installed it on either if I didn't trust it and the person who gave it to me completely. (I received this program about a year ago from a former teacher. We give it to people who use a forum board we frequent when they post pictures that are so enormous they take up the entire viewing screen. Also, the original creator of the program released it as freeware with an open invitation to pass it on.)
