Entry from April 3 - My Enemy - The Scale
In spite of my best efforts, the darn scale just isn't moving. Now my
brain knows that since I have beefed up my workouts and added weight
training that I am gaining muscle and losing fat. Sometimes that works
out to be a draw in the scales department. And I have put three pairs
of pants in the too big to wear anymore pile. And when I put on my
shorts for the first time last year, I found them too big. And my 8 yo
son said, "Mommy, your butt is smaller."
But, the darn scale hasn't moved this month. And somehow I allow that
to mess with my brain. But in truth I do know that I have been slacking
up with my healthy picks in the last few weeks as well.
Therefore, I make a commitment to myself to journal my food everyday
for the month of April. This commitment should pay off by making that
darn scale quit laughing at me!!

Accountability through blogging is an excellent idea!
I saw a fascinanting program on 20/20 or some such show, where they threatened to show the nation pictures of weight loss candidates in their bathing suits if they didn't make their weight goals.. Just the thought that other people might see all that flesh made everyone work hard. Only one woman out of 7 or so, didn't make goal. Of course the TV station didn't show her pictures, the threat was enough! They said we could do the same thing by just telling your friends that you are trying to lose weight, make good choices, etc...
So, you go girl!

Good idea, Carole. Accountability really helps! I have found a lot of support at the blubber bloggers yahoo group! I didn't lose any weight this last week, but I added exercise in after plateauing from four months of weight loss. I am not going to let it get me down!

Last year I lost some weight. But this year the scales aren't moving either. It's a little frustrating but I haven't gain any either. Keep up the good work, I'm sure the scales will move soon. However, the scale is not always important tool in your success. It's how you feel about yourself and how your clothes fit better!
