Five Kids In A Cottage--Loving and Learning at Home

BOOKS

We just finished 'rowing' the book Miss Rumphius.  Now we're onto rowing Owl Moon.  We all love that book and are excited to get into it.  I've been looking at Thanksgiving books a little bit early this year.  The book on the right in the picture, The Story of Thanksgiving, is exactly what I have been looking for my four year old and even almost three year old.  It is simple, yet covers the history of Thanksgiving well for younger children.  I like it as well, because it gives God thanks for our blessings.  The book on the left, The Night Before Thanksgiving, is a very lighthearted book.  More for fun than anything.  Yet, it really does give a good look into how many modern American families celebrate Thankgiving.   The only thing I don't like about it, is that it doesn't give thanks to the Lord.  So...I just make it a point to add that into our conversation after we read the book.
