Jul. 26, 2006 - Anticipating Motherhood
I just added a new ticker up there so ya'll can see Baby V's progress, but I also thought the second one was cute - plus, I like that it counts the weeks, vs. the days... (It just sounds shorter to me somehow!
)
I can already feel little Baby Vinson (or "Biscuit," as my dad says
) moving around! Last Tuesday was the first time I was for SURE it was the baby - before that, I couldn't tell. It was like this little fluttery feeling that kept coming every 15 seconds or so and then stopping. It was soooo cool! Unfortunately, Travis missed it, but we're sure he'll be able to catch the baby action soon enough!
August 22nd we will go back to the Dr. for the EXCITING visit.... That's right, the one where we may get to learn whether or not we're having a boy or a girl!! We simply cannot wait!
?? or
?? I seem to be finished with the nausea and sickness associated with the first trimester...well, almost.
Yesterday it hit me pretty hard after I had gone quite a few weeks with just the tiniest bit of it. Smells seem to trigger that lovely little nauseous feeling of mine, seeing as my nose is now quite sensitive. Comes with the territory, I'm told! I also seem to sneeze ALL the time now... Another side-effect of the increasing abilities of my nose, no doubt!

My dear momma (who came down for a great visit last week) took me shopping for maternity clothes!!! It was sooo much fun. Even though I'm just beginning to "show" to the rest of the world, I've already gained about 5 pounds and added approximately 3-4 more inches around my tummy and hips. Needless to say, my old clothes weren't fitting very well anymore!
I'm so grateful to have some more comfy, cute things that I can wear now. Hmmmm....maybe I'll post a picture of my little bump of a belly for ya'll sometime...hmmm.My mom also brought me some great books when she came that I have been devouring...

What to Expect When You're Expecting came from a dear family friend back in Wichita who am I so grateful for, and the other two were gifts from my mom. *smile* I am reminded as I read these books of all the mind-boggling and sometimes overwhelming responsibilities that come with parenting. However, as scary as it seems at times, we must always remember that ultimately our child is in the LORD'S hands. And what better place is there to be? I love this prayer in Stormie Omartian's The Power of a Praying Parent (pages 36-37):
Your Word says that every good gift come from You.
We know that You have given him/her to us to care for and raise.
Help us to do that.
Show us places where we continue to hang on to him/her and enable
us to release him/her to Your protection, guidance, and counsel.
Help us not to live in fear of possible dangers,
but in the joy and peace of knowing that You are in control.
We rely on You for everything, and this day we trust our child to You
and release him/her into Your hands."

Oh my word!!! I haven't checked your blog in a while I guess. I am so excited for you. I will be keeping avery close eye on all your latest news now for sure:)
I just read "The power of a praying parent" a couple weeks ago. It is fantastic. Ihave really been trying to pray more spefically for my kids. The one thing that she said that has really stuck with me was" What might or might not happen today because I prayed or didn't pray for my child"......
Well, take it easy- enjoy every minute, it is the most awesome thing in the world!!!

Your excitement is contagious. I love the ticker. How fun to have an idea of what your baby might look like and how it is growing each day!
Let us know how the ultrasound goes!

Thanks for visiting my blog. It's a wonderful thing - God creating and forming your baby. I remember my first - my son - when he was close to being born his foot was up by my left rib and if I wanted to make sure he was okay I would squeeze his foot and then he would move - wasn't very nice of me - I probably woke him up or something. Then with my daughter when she was about 5 months along we were camping out and in the middle of the night there was a really loud thunder and lightning and boy did she jump! Have fun and God bless!! jill

Babies are so exciting! You are just one more person I can live vicariously through when I think about not being able to have any more. It seems January is a popular month - I have 8 couples interested in my next childbirth class which is for January due dates. By the way, if you have any questions on the labor and birth part of this whole process, please email me. It's really nice to get a non-medical perspective sometimes - a perspective that believes that God made our bodies to birth. (I don't know if you noticed yet, but most doctors think birth is a dangerous process where something could go wrong at any second - which, of course, isn't true.)
Let me also recommend a couple more books to you:
Christ Centered Childbirth by Kelly Townsend. Very good read and includes a devotional.
A Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth by Henci Goer
The Birth Partner by Penny Simpkin
I am praying for you and your baby. Take care of yourself and eat LOTS of protein, fresh fruit and veggies - and stay away from the sugar! LOL.
Christine
