Nov. 29, 2005 - A Life with Meaning...
In the work and ministry with Heart of Virtue I have the opportunity to see and hear from so many young people (mostly young women) who are searching for answers to their questions, for some kind of hope and meaning, and for understanding about what this life is all about... It's heart breaking to see the struggles they face! It truly causes me to reflect...
We all know that every girl will eventually grow up. When that happens, we hope she has learned the necessities of life to be able to make it in this world. A wise girl will learn these lessons while she is still young. How I wish girls undestood that making it in this world does not mean being successful in what we do, becoming well liked or popular, wearing the latest styles, or having the finer things in life (as our world often thinks)!!
Of course, in and of themselves these things aren’t bad things to have - in fact they’re very nice! However, I believe that making it in this world means knowing the appropriate words to speak at the appropriate time, striving to have a beautiful heart rather than an impressive outward appearance, loving the people in our lives that are the hardest to love, and most importantly, having a right relationship with Jesus Christ.
That is the reason I share what I do with young women when I have the opportunity to write or speak to them! How I pray that these girls who God brings across my path would understand beyond a shadow of a doubt what this life is really all about!
"And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us
an understanding, that we may know Him that is true..." (1 John
"[God] has saved us and called us to a holy life - not because of
anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace." (2 Timothy 1:9a)
Now, what about you? Do you have a reason to live? Have you stopped to think about where you will be spending eternity? You know, God deeply loves you, too… He’s sitting with His arms wide open, waiting to accept you into His family if you’ll just believe and accept Him into your heart!
He loves you more than you'll EVER know.
