Nov. 2, 2006 - Yay for drive by postings!
(Finding myself up to my eyeballs in various school projects all due about the same time, I take a quick moment to share a few blogging thoughts with ya'll...)
Yay for a good grade on my last Algebra test!!
(Prayers for an equally nice grade on my 10-page research paper due next Friday are GREATLY appreciated...
)
Yay for beautiful FALL WEATHER!!! I simply can't wait for the holidays... Can you?
Yay for almost hitting the "30-week mark" of pregnancy!! Yep, only 10 1/2 more weeks till Baby V's due approximate due date... Can ya believe it??!
Not so "yay" feelings about painful rib kicks from a baby boy running out of room in my belly to move around.
Yay for insurance companies deciding to go ahead and pay for the damages to our car!
Yay for visits from friends from my old home state of Kansas!! (Isn't this the nicest little "Taste of Kansas" package the Werner's gave me yesterday?
)
(Our friends were also kind enough to bring a care package from my momma and poppa. Nestled amongst the sweet baby boy clothes and other items they sent us was this cute bumper sticker...)
And, as always, YAY for God's wonderful BLESSINGS and LOVE for us.

Oct. 5, 2006 - Thankful for God's AMAZING protection
Every time I get in the car now that I'm pregnant the thought runs through my mind that we should be even more careful and safe on the road as we're driving. It's been a little scary for me to think about being in a wreck while our little baby boy is still growing and maturing inside me. That's why I simply couldn't believe it when it actually happened to me Tuesday afternoon.
A guy ran into me from behind as I was stopped at an intersection, making my car lurch forward and hit the small SUV in front of me. And I have to say, the whole thing scared the livin' daylights out of me.
All that was running through my mind was that I was pregnant and that I couldn't possibly afford to be in a wreck right now. The lady in the SUV in front of me came back and asked if I was okay, and then looking down at my tummy she said, "Are you PREGNANT?" When I told her that I was almost 7 months along she said, "Wow, you only look like you're 3 months along. Honey, I'm calling an ambulance." (It's funny that at the time I didn't even dwell on the fact that she noticed I was pregnant without me having to tell her... I've been wondering if anyone who didn't already know me would be able to tell that I was. I guess they can!
)
I didn't end up going on an ambulance ride afterall because I didn't feel injured (just really freaked out) and the Paramedic said that I could go to my own doctor and be checked out if I wanted. Even though I was choking back the tears as I was so afraid of what might have happened to the baby, praise the Lord I somehow managed to stay calm and not shed a tear the whole time. Also, thankfully no one else was hurt and none of the cars were really that banged up. Heh heh, that is.... except our's.
I was driving our little Kia (yes, that'd be the one we just recently bought) and it's gonna need some work done on it. The hood is dented in pretty good and the back bumper is scratched up and sagging. Also, something's wrong with the steering and the wiring. Now we have the joy of filing claims, getting estimates and driving rentals for a while. Ahhh, what fun.
So Travis came in from work and took me to my baby doctor right away to make sure everything was okay with our little guy. And I'm happy to say that it was!! They did an ultrasound again to see how he looked and we were surprised at how much he has grown and changed already in just the last month or so! (Also...the lady doing the sonogram informed us, "Aaaand, he's still a boy."
)
This is his best picture so far. I can't believe how easily you can see his little face, hands and even his nose!
My, my... what a cutie pie.

Sep. 28, 2006 - Back from the dead? I hope so!
And now, nearly one month later....
I'm still alive!!
Yes, I know I surpassed my weekly posting by SEVERAL weeks, but never fear...Myklin is still here!
I jumped in with both feet at the college this semester and have been amazed at how busy I have been just keeping up with my assignments. I'm only taking three classes (2 basics - Algebra and Analytical Writing) and one having to do with understanding and teaching children. FUN! They are verrry interesting and I have good teachers, but me oh my... they have been keeping me hopping!
My apologies, as always, for not being able to keep up with all of you and leave sweet comments on everyone's sites! Alas, yet another one of my shortcomings ya'll can bear witness to.
I hope you know that I appreciate all of you and wish I had the time to leave ya'll as many comments as I possibly could on all of your awesome blogs!
To catch you up on Vinson news, life is still going WONDERFUL with us...(all THREE of us!) Travis loves his job (he celebrated his 1-year anniversary of working there on Tuesday - I'm so proud of him!!), we have been enjoying going back to church on Sundays now that the summer has settled down and I am no longer sick feeling all the time, and we're both getting more and more excited every day anticipating the arrival of our little BOY!!! Ah, but more about that in a minute. First things first!
To add to the normal excitement of homemaking, business and school activitities, I also made it back to Kansas last week for a short visit with the family!! It was WONDERFUL. Our adorable 3-month old niece Faith had a baby dedication at church on Sunday so I got see that special event. I also got to hold her, kiss her cute chubby cheeks and witness her coo's, giggles and outright laughter! Yep, she's already LAUGHING!! I got some pretty sweet pics of her...

The only down side to the trip was that I had to leave my loving husband for four nights because of his work schedule.
I miss my darlin' so much just while he's gone to work for 9 hrs every day, so you can imagine how my heart ached for him being gone for several days! But, he's such a dear. He positively inisisted that I go back to visit my family, and that I should not worry...he would be "just fine" without me.
It did feel sooo good to give him a big ol' hug on again when I finally got to see him on Sunday. *sigh* I think I'm in love with him.
Anyway, since Little Boy V. is due to arrive right after the first of the year, we just don't feel that it's a good idea to travel back up north for the holidays this time, so this trip was most likely the last one for the year. I cherish the memories I made with all of my dear relatives last week and thank the Lord for giving them to me to love! I am so blessed.
NECESSARY INTERJECTION: I love this weather!!! We've actually been able to open the windows a few days now and let the cool, fallish weather come breezing in! Ahhh, just "loverly."
I'm going to post another belly picture of me soon, as I am definitely growing! Still kinda small considering the fact that I'm 6-months along, but for my body build I think I'm pretty normal. I've gained about 15 pounds now and have outgrown the small size maternity clothes - well, at least the bottoms. Since I'm carrying him lower, my small size maternity shirts still fit...for now! I can't wait to see how things keep changing and he keeps growing.
I'm
almost to the 3rd trimester (woah, this is going so fast) and Little
Boy V. is sure active!! It's soooo fun to see my belly move from his
kicks and punches (yes, they are definitely PUNCHES) he's making inside
me. We're getting his baby room together more and more - thanks to my
sweet husband and his mother and brother!! They worked so hard on
Saturday while I was gone to KS to get his room cleaned up from all of the boxes and stuff we had stored in there. I was floored when I came home. I'll have to post a picture of what it looks like now, but ya'll will just have to imagine what it looked like before to truly appreciate the transformation. That was just sooo sweet of them.
We love talking to Baby Boy V. in my stomach... He will be pretty still while Travis is talking to him and then as soon as Travis stops, he'll go crazy kicking the spot where Travis's mouth was!! It's truly an amazing thing. We are aching to hold him and love him from the outside... It hurts my heart sometimes because I want to cuddle my little son in my arms. But...*smiling sigh*...I can wait. The Lord is still growing him and making him stronger every day that he stays inside me. It will be sooo worth it to finally get to see and hold him. My, how time flies and drags by at the same time!
Ah, so speaking of time, I really must go. I have some English homework to do and some dinner to prepare before my baby arrives home from work in an hour. Hmmmm, I'm thinking something with chicken tonight... Maybe, fajitas?? Yummers! That's making me hungry to think about.
I better get on it, eh?
Much love and prayers from me to you, friends!! May God bless your day with plenty of laughter and lots of SMILES.

Aug. 27, 2006 - Some More Site and Blog Changes
Well, I've been at it again... changing, tweaking and updating my site and my blog! I have to say, as time-consuming as it is, I think web-building is absolutely great fun.
I've just added several new pages to my site, including a new section of other resources that we would like to recommend. Also, on the links page, I added several new banners anyone can use if they would like to swap links with us. The new banners are listed below...

Aug. 8, 2006 - Looking towards 1 whole year...
Yes, it's hard to believe, but my handsome hubby and I will be celebtrating our 1-Year Anniversary in just 5 more days! We can hardly believe it. What a wonderful year it has been. I am amazed by God's graciousness and overwhelming goodness to us!
In lieu of the approaching milestone, I thought I'd post a few pictures I found from our happy day! (For more pictures of our special day, I've posted some on our website.)

She's been gone for what seems like ages to Costa Rica this summer
and I can't wait for her to come home to us.

We're so happy for them both! They make an awesome couple.

My good looking brothers! Logan is on the left (21) and Marc is on the right (25).

Travis's good looking siblings! From left to right: Eryn (17), Thomas (15), Regan (20), and Kristen (20).
Thomas was Travis's Best Man and the girls blessed us by singing a GORGEOUS a cappella
rendition of "How Deep the Father's Love for Us" during the ceremony.

This was taken right after the mothers lit the candles at the beginning of the ceremony.
While they were still on stage, right after lighting the candles, they turned to each other,
grinned and whispered, "See ya!"
It was too cute. They're great friends anyway and you can tell they were having a lot of fun!
(If you'd like to read more about Travis and I's families, here and here are some posts you may find interesting!)

Taken from the balcony of the church during the ceremony. My brother, Marc, and his wife,
Nicole (now parents of our niece, Faith), are beautifully singing "Grow Old With Me" off to the right.

Our beautiful reception! I had hardly anything to do with the decorations at the wedding
(much to this already overwhelmed bride's delight), so I was completely blown away
by the amazing beauty and the completely romatic feeling that our dear friends
and family who were in charge of decorating were able to capture.
I truly felt like I was walking through a fairy tale dream land!

but I honestly don't remember the taste at all... Hee hee, methinks I was a wee bit distraced.

I love this picture my brother, Logan, took of the cake table!

Travis and I's growing up years. I think the way the decorating ladies did the lights
and greenery was GORGEOUS.

~ Mr. and Mrs. Travis Vinson August 13, 2005 ~
How I thank the Lord for nearly one whole year of being married to my best friend and strong protector. Travis, you have no idea how much I love and simply adore everything about you. I cannot wait to see what the days ahead hold for us!!

Jul. 17, 2006 - Ahhhh, so the cravings have begun!!
The other night I was laying in bed, trying to fall asleep, when I realized that I was really hungry. The more I thought about it, the more I had visions of beautiful, succulent, icing covered doughnuts floating through my mind's eye. MMMMmmmmmmmmm! Yes, that's it, I thought. I really could use one of those nice, glazed long john doughnuts right about now. OOOOooo! Or even better, a warm Krispy Kreme doughnut. Yeaahh!
However, as I contemplated this delightful dessert a bit further, I had the sudden realization that, along with the lovely doughnuts dancing through my head, I also saw bowl after bowl of steamed BROCCOLI flying around in my mind's eye! Ahhh, simply divine steamed broccoli - how tasty, I thought. All at once I was aware of how completely strange that sounded. I was craving glazed, Krispy Kreme doughnuts and...STEAMED BROCCOLI. Toooo weird.... As I thought on this more, I remembered that I'm not even a huge broccoli fan, and would hardly ever choose to eat a doughnut if there were anything else I could possibly have. Then it hit me. Most definitely, this could be classified as my first pregnant woman's craving!
Wow, how exciting!!
The next day I went out to eat with Travis's mother, sister and younger brother. (These sweet family members are my mother, sister and younger brother now too, but just for the sake of clarity, I will say they are Travis's!) I had told them about my bizarre cravings the night before, so as I was getting ready to order, Trav's little brother, Thomas, starts teasing me about ordering doughnuts and steamed broccoli. Can you imagine?!
"Uh, yes sir, I think I'd like to order some doughnuts and steamed broccoli, if you please. Oh, and while you're at it, do you think I could have s a side of pickle juice and some Cheetos with that as well? And then, for dessert, maybe you could save me some warm rhubarb pie, with just a dab of icecream and ketchup on top. Do you think you could do that for me? Thanks so much."
Hmmm, if I ordered something like that, do you think anyone would suspect that I'm pregnant? *grin*

And for my dear, sweet, Travis...

Jul. 10, 2006 - Totally Twitterpated!
We had a marvelous trip back to Kansas to visit family and friends! Travis and I agreed after the first day of getting to see and hold and kiss our precious little niece Faith, that we were both totally in LOVE! Here are a few of the million pictures we took while we were there... (Some of the MANY differented faces of Faith!)
She's the sweetest and most beautiful baby. She already sleeps the night through, and the whole time we were there, we only heard her cry once. Woah! I hope when her cousin arrives in January, that he/she can follow Faith's example and sleep that much.

She was smiling here, but it kind of was fading by the time I snapped the pic.
She’s also wearing the outfit we gave her – too cute!
An adorable little face!
Sleeping peacefully in Travis’s arms…
A big yawn from a little girl.
Such a tiny little hand, covering a beautiful little face.

Uncle and Aunt, Saying Goodbye...(how sad!)

Jun. 20, 2006 - More thoughts from an expectant mother...
So, we wait to hear from my brother Marc and his wife Nicole about the arrival of their precious Baby Cox! That's right, sweet Cole went into labor last night. Would ya'll say a prayer for them if you think about it? Thanks.
Speaking of babies...my doctor's visit went sooo well last Tuesday! I had blood work and tests done, lots of paperwork to fill out, about 50 pages of pregnancy FAQ's to take home and refer to as needed, and....*drum roll please*....I got to SEE the baby for the very first time!!
My goodness, I could hardly believe my eyes! The baby was only about an inch long, but I could see the face profile as he/she was all curled up with it's tiny heart just beating up a storm. *sigh* I just couldn't hold back the tears. I was looking at our child. Our little baby, already growing and living inside me! I was sad that Travis wasn't there for the visit to see all the baby action going on, but at least I got to take a picture home to him. He proudly slapped it up on the refrigerator so the whole world could see!
The nurses told me that the next sonogram will be when I'm at 20 weeks, and that I should definitely bring my hubby for that one! I read that that's the time they can tell if it's a boy or girl...and we ABSOLUTELY can't wait to find out!!! We are just simply too impatient to go the whole time without finding out whether we're having a son or daughter. Of course, doctors can sure be wrong on it, but we'd still like to find out what they think.
Ya know, one thing I find extremely odd, is that so many actitivies I liked just a mere 2 1/2 months ago I simply struggle to enjoy now! One thing that has changed since I've been pregnant is my radio-listening habits. Strange as it may sound, I find that I can no longer listen to some of the talk-radio programs that I absolutely loved before!
I really don't get it, either. My favorite program to listen to before was the Glenn Beck Program...but now, the very idea of listening to his program makes me feel nauseous! And I'm not even kidding. He sort of overloads my senses and makes my head hurt now. I think it's because he's such a loud, silly, over-the-top sort of talk show host. He's just a little much for this pregnant lady!! Go figure. *laughing*
Oh! and right now it looks like my due date is January the 10th -- the day after our sweet sister Eryn and my good friend Tessa's birthday! It's just too exciting for me to think about having a sweet baby around in the next 6 1/2 months or so.
I cry or tear up almost every time I see a baby now! I'm always like, "Awwww, look Travis!! It's a baaaaabyyy."
Last week I went to the neighborhood pool to get some sun and a little exercise, and found that I couldn't stop smiling at all the adorable children! I had such a blast, just sitting back and watching all the interaction between the kids and their mommies, the toddler's cute little anticts... I found myself imagining coming to the pool before too long with our own precious bundle of JOY. *grin* Can you tell I'm excited to be a mother?!
loving and wise parents to the little one You will bring us.
Please give us courage as we face the time ahead of us and anticipate all of the new, difficult, and yet wonderful situations we will find ourselves in.
Father, You know how scary it can seem at times, but You also know that we
can always trust You to see us through every situation.
We thank You for Your blessings and Your amazing love that shows us daily
how we should love those around us.
Guide us, Lord.
Humble us.
Teach us.
Prepare us.
AMEN.
