Sep. 23, 2009 - Can this happen every night please????

Posted in Homemaking

The other night I was exhausted, we had a busy day and I had made a wonderful supper as well.  So my hubby Tom decided to do the dishes (I never even asked!)  Well, a few minutes after he started washing what couldn't fit in the dishwasher Claire came over to help her daddy...but she had a plan.  Tom said "Oh, my sweetie is going to help me heh?"  To which Claire replied, "Well, yeah, cause if I help you and you can get done faster, than we can play Uno and I can cweam ya!"   She loves to play Uno, or any game for that matter!  So she helped him and Dad did play Uno later with her.

Sep. 23, 2009 - An ap-peel-ing job to an almost 6 year old!

Posted in Homemaking

Claire wanted to learn how to "skin" a carrot as she calls it....heee heeee....she cracks me up!  I told her it was called "peeling a carrot" to which she replied  "okay, sure, can you show me how to skin it please?"  I give up.  So, here is my little domestic mama peeling carrots for the first time-she did awesome too!

I tried showing her how I do it, but those of you who know ClaireBear know she will come up with her own way of doing it....haha

I was looking at her hands in this picture and they are losing their "pudginess," she is growing up so fast.

Here, she realized I had been taking pics of her and she said, "Wait Mom! Let me pose!"  Ha hahaha...Camera Ham!!

Nov. 26, 2008 - Vinegar....all purpose stuff!

Posted in Homemaking

VINEGAR:  Kid's definition: stinky, clear stuff that makes you say "Peeeeeuuuuuu!  What is that smell!"    Mom's definition:  stinky clear stuff that is cheap and all purposeful and makes mom say "Sweeeet!"  I use vinegar as a coffee pot cleaner, floor wash, laundry softener.....did you know you can use it in your dishwasher too in place of softened water?  YOU SEE, we got rid of our water softener, we were renting one and it just got to the point where you start to cut out what you can live w/o, understand?  Anyway, after we got rid of the water softener my dishwasher did a horrible job of cleaning the dishes...and I mean horrible....spots, residues...disgusting.  A friend told me "put a cup or so of vinegar in the bottom of the dishwasher just before you run it and that will help."  You still use your normal dishwasher soap.  Now, at first I did not notice a difference...but after a week of doing this daily my dishes are beautifully clean!   I think the vinegar had to clean out the whole system much like it does a coffee pot.  So, anyway, just wanted to share this tip with you.
