Are Public Schools an Option for Christian Kids

Posted in children

Great E-Book from The Old School House Magazine! and it's FREE to download!!

Are Public Schools an Option for Christian Kids?

It's an encouraging read for those of us who homeschool for religious reasons!

and if you like that book...

I also recommend Family Driven Faith by Voddie Baucham and his DVD titled "The Children of Caesar". I have links to his website in my sidebar somewhere (being technically challenged really has its limitations)  The book is available at most Christian book stores.

It is just tough when you feel like a failure as a homeschool mom and most of the stuff you see is either about how preschool and kindergarteners are learning latin and time tables or how public school is bad and I feel like I never live up to it.....

Martha,

I know how you feel. As homeschoolers, we hold our children's futures in our hands. If they grow up to be jobless and homeless, its because we failed to teach them. :o) But in reality we know that's not gonna happen. Is it? The kids learning Latin in Kindergarten are the kids who are going to college before their 10. :o} Latin? I'd be happy if we could get the times tables mastered before we start HIGH school! :o) Each child is different, each mommy is different, which is the beauty of homeschooling... To each his own.. But remember what our one true goal must ultimately be....Math, Latin, and Grammar isn't going to matter much if our children's hearts are not right with the Lord. That should be our priority every day. www.hisimageministries.org (I have a link in the sidebar) has some great tapes/CDs I highly recommend listening to: 'Schoolroom of a Mother's Heart' and 'Hope and Help for the Weary'. I really enjoy listening to these when I am feeling like a homeschooling failure. (we didn't have school last week due to life's hiccups. or as I commonly refer to them as Chaos and Murphy's Law) The tapes/CDs have encouraged me in our homeschooling journey. If I had to choose between having a child genius or having a child whose heart is right with the Lord. I would most definately choose the latter. Keep up the great work and 'stay the course'. And remember.... Kindergarteners only need to master their letters and numbers, not physics and Latin (those are high school subjects)...... :o)

About Me

Confessions of a SAHHM (Stay At Home Homeschooling Mom). SAHHM to six children, 3 cats, 1 German Shepherd, Chaos, Murphy's Law, Notme, Idunno, and one incredibly loving and patient husband! :o) If I haven't blogged recently, it's probably because chaos has gotten loose. It does that from time to time. Rest assured I will be back as soon as it is under control again.
