Surgery Update

I am posting a quick update for the many people who have been praying for my dad and my family during his recent illness.  Tuesday was the surgery day. When the doctor came out to talk to me, he was amazed.  The cancerous growth had actually shrunk in the past week! The biospy had said that there was widespread growth in the surrounding bones, but when the doctor went in there was not.  My father will not even have to take chemo! Before the surgery, the doctor had said this was a certainity.
I really believe that this was an answer to prayer, although the doctor was skeptical when my dad told him this.
It was still a major surgery with a long recovery time and truthfully, I am exhausted from being the caregiver.  After this is all over, I hope to take a long nap with no one interupting me for pain pills, bandages, food, to run needed errands, or any other personal need!   (Not that I mind doing this for my dad or my family members, but sometimes a short break might be nice.) Hopefully, I will have time to visit blogs soon!

Jun. 20, 2008 - Thank you

Thank you for keeping us up to date with your dad's news. I've not been in your position as care-giver, but know many who have been and know that it is incredibly hard to not get a break, however much you love and want to help the one you are helping. I'm praying someone will 'give you a break' on a regular basis so that you are refreshed to bless your dad. I know as I have cried out to the Lord to 'give me a break!' somehow He always has, though not quite how I have thought. Thank you for your honesty. We need to know that Jesus keeps us through all of lifes trials and right now you are living proof of that. May He richly bless and encourage you!

Of course it is an answer to prayer. Oh Alleluia! If I could dance on screen right now I would. Thank you Jesus! I'm so glad to hear this Pam. I'm sure you are too because from what I've heard chemo is not fun. I pray that you would get that much needed rest time to refresh.

I'm so glad that your father's cancer was so much less than expected - PTL, we all know that it's God's healing powers, even when the dr.'s are so skeptical. I'll be praying for your dad's recovery and rest for you too.

Pam,
Sorry I haven't checked in in a while. I hope you had a decent (I won't say good under the circumstances) anniversary. I am so glad to hear the news about your dad! No chemo is very definitely a blessing from God! Hopefully, after recovery time you will be able to take a little time for yourself even if it's just a long soak in a warm tub! You are in my prayers.

Pam,

You have to be the most thoughtful pretend friend I have ever met in the blogosphere. With all that's on your plate, you are still dropping me notes to inquire about my husbands injury. Incredible.

His knee (not back) is recovering nicely. A torn meniscus takes a long time to heal, but we have opted not to do surgery, but instead to just wait it out. He is using a cane, which is frustrating for both of us...he just still doesn't have the mobility he has always had. But it is getting better. =)

Looks like you really have a lot going on in your corner of the world. I will be praying for your dad and for you to be sustained and strengthened during his recovery.

And happy anniversary. 19 years is truly something to celebrate!
