Missing In Action because of Parenting

Perhaps some of you are wondering, "Why did Pam's week long blogging break turn into a month of no posts?"  I was sure that when the excitement of the holidays was over it would be back to business as usual.  I was feeling better from my recent medical problems and was excited about starting a new semester.

I noticed that my daughter was feeling bad for several weeks in November, but since she has asthma, I attributed her symptoms to that.  No!  She had a severe sinus infection.  It was causing her blood pressure to skyrocket, dehydration, fainting spells, and other problems.  She was very sick.  We thought that after her two week dose of the strongest antibiotics available and a major diet change, she would be well.

Nope!  Instead, she got worse. Back to the doctor we went.  This time the doctor suggested because she had been on antibiotics so long (several times since September) that they are no longer working.  Plus, her sinuses were so backed up that she is barely able to breath.  Only a couple of pinhole size spaces are available for her to breath through. The doctor told her,  "I don't see how you are still functioning."  Her doctor recommends sinus surgery because something is wrong with her sinuses.

We are visiting an ENT tomorrow to find out what the verdict will be.  Therefore, I have been missing blogging to "do mothering."  I do miss everyone and hope I will be able to catch up soon!

On to more fun topics, my son received this gift (his favorite!) for Christmas.

My son says, "Nothing says love like a new weapon."

Pam,

I am glad you are feeling better. I hope the medication continues to work. Since my blood pressure is under control, I don't get sick as often.

I will keep your daughter in my prayers.

Blessings,
Jean

Hi Pam. I hope the ENT will have some answers for your dd. My oldest went through something similar, but fortunately three rounds of anitbiotics worked for him. Loved the comment your ds made...sounds just like something my 13yo would say. :) Thanks for stopping by my blog and keeping in touch. I'll be keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers. What a struggle you've all had the past few months. I pray that you will turn a corner soon, and return to full health. And I'm grateful for God's continued presence and blessing in your lives and in your family.

"Nothing says love like a new weapon!" HAHAHA!

I wondered who was sick, but I didn't want to ask on Facebook. I'm sorry your daughter has sinus trouble. My daughter does, too, and we know that it takes forever for antibiotics to penetrate the sinus cavity. Laura is so tired of it. Plus she has an inhaler for asthma and takes Zyrtec. Yuck. I hope the trip to the ENT will help.

Funny side note that maybe you'll appreciate more when your daughter is better: there's a business down the road that's been renovating an old farmer's market building for ages. Every time we go to Dairy Queen in the summer (so read 'frequently'), we pass someone's dream. The name of the business? "The Ohio Sinus Institute."

Hi,
I stumbled upon your blog and enjoyed it a lot. My daughter would be very jealous of your daughter's new car! My daughter turned 17 in April and I know what you mean by gray hairs!

Sorry to hear about your daughter's sinus problems. Sounds kind of scary, in fact. I'm glad the doctors are getting on top of this and looking into a fix for it. Hope it gets taken care of soon!
