still more Harry rantings, Volume 2

Posted in media madness

this is just a nitpick, but i have to say what i see, right

there's been much about the Harry Potter books being prominently displayed in bookstores right next to the books on witchcraft, etc...

what each individual store can't be tallyed, but any MAJOR bookstore i have been in, including Borders on Saturday, the witchcraft books, including the Satanic Bible, are always in the exact same spot...right mnext to the CHRISTANITY section of the store...usually right on the next shelf from everyone's favorite version of Scripture, there's the Wiccan guidebooks, spell books, Satanic Bible (if the store is bold enough to actually carry it), etc...while poor Harry, who gets all the blame for it, is over in the CHILDREN'S section, with nary a book about REAL witchcraft nearby...yes, they cross promote all the other authors of fantasy literature, like Philip Pullman (yuck) et al, some of whom do try and indoctrinate young minds into the whole "God is Dead" thing...but the REAL Witchcraft stuff is quietly upon the shelf next to Christ. Who do you think is laughing about that?

Ah, so this is where you have been! Very busy from the looks of it.

Congratulations on the writing assignment. Let us all know when it appears.

Miss O saw the movie at the IMAX in Palisades. A gift for her from her friend. I think they must be the perfect audience. They enjoyed it throughly. Was very frightful. And of course had to leave out huge important chunks of the book, by now tho' they were prepared for their favorite bits not to be there.

They did like this director better.

The girls were both shocked at the number of really little kids that were there. They went to the first showing which had been sold out for weeks. She sat next to a FIVE YEAR OLD who started crying before the movie even began. Also reported many many moms with young kids.

I just saw the third a few weeks ago and was stunned at how dark they made it. Where is all the fun stuff. There were still a lot of good interesting light bits in the that book. Even the gof had humorous clever bits. All is black in the film world, guess that noir!

be well.

you never know who will pop up around here! ;-)

yup, we went to MiddleTown and MAN!!! so many young kids! they were well behaved though...better than me and Jeff complaining during every scene! They did get that "boarding school" feel much better in this movie...i strongly dislike "PoA" for many reasons...darkness being oone of them.

glad to see you around here...:-)
