Happy March! and a challenge too!

ahhh, wonderful March! you never know what to wear, if it will rain or snow or be 80*F...and the end of the month is my birthday i'm a perfect March person...completely unpredictable!
there's this small thing that the Lord has been working on with me the past month or so...anger and yelling... let's just say i'm failing miserable, but i had an ispiration this morning! The Lion to Lamb Challenge! see, i don't have any nifty stuff to give away for a contest, but i invite all of you who have been pricked in your heart by the Holy Spirit to join in the Challenge with me (and a few OLF's at HK's)
here's what i think...those of us who have anger issues have an "inner lion"...we get all our hairs on the back of our necks raised when something isn't going right, the kids aren't being perfect, the kids need us while we are blogging, etc...and the "lion-ish" nature kicks in and we roar away the disturbance to get back to our interests. The only thing is that our "roars" scar the hearts of those we roar at. There's a great article on yelling at Christian Homeschool Fellowship that you can read, by Barbara Smith. (and you don't need to join the forum to access the articles) It has really been a major conviction for me, even if i fall short of actually stopping the "roar" before it erupts. Psalm 51 speaks to restoring the heart, please read it over and over and over again! (special thanks to TaminAz for sending me the link to the article!)
anyway, back to the challenge (yes, i am "rabbit trail" queen) When those "lion-ish" qualities start to rise, what can we do to become more "lamb-like" in response instead of reacting "lion-ish"? Firstly, we need to RESPOND and not REACT. Reacting is an impulse, we don't think, just act. To respond, you need to stop......then THINK....then reply. If this seems elementary to you, see what happens today as you go through your normal routine. How many things are "responses" and how many are "reactions"? You may be surprised!
Please comment here, and subsequent weekly "Lion to Lamb Challenge" posts how the Holy Spirit is turning YOU into a Lamb. PLEASE post sriptures that have spoken to your heart! I look forward to having victory in this area and seeing victory in others also!
Blessed day!

Hey, are we related or something? How did you know that I get like this?!
I've gotten better about the yelling...I replace it with a whisper, which actually strikes a little fear in their hearts... *sigh* I guess I will forever be a work in progress...there is SO much that needs to be improved!
Love,
Marsha

Hey, I have a March birthday ... and I never thought about my unpredictable nature, lol. I sure do have a inner lion that needs to be tamed, this challenge comes at a great time. In fact, I got *in trouble* last night .... my Dad called me last night and got on to me for talking to him disrespectfully :)

ya ya ya...my reactions is something have been working on for a while and doing better, but I still have moments--you know, like when everything is happening at the same time. My brain just can't process it all!
I'm finding that while I'm doing better--my second born has taken up the gauntlet and I have his reactions to work on as well!

Greetings from a fellow lion. I AM getting better...but I still have those volcano-erupting times -- a Mommy temper tantrum.
Count me in for the challenge.

I didn't do so well yesterday :(
I am wrapping up a survey (and contest) on internet security. I am quite interested in the results, since so many seem to have concerns as of late. Please stop by and answer the survey questions. http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/Janne/89977/

I'm in. I'll join the challenge. I heard a tip on the radio a few weeks back that helps me (whenever I remember it) - when things are going crazy, state the facts. Just state the facts. (Or whisper them!) Things like, "You are interrupting me. You are not being respectful. This is not a good time for painting. You need me now, and I can come back to this entry later.."
whatever it is!
ps - I'm looking for my missing juicer...have you seen it???
