i hope that you can see that...it's me and my now 22 yr old DD!
22 yrs ago today *I* was 19 and a new mommy! i was scared! of course you can insert the usual jokes about her being the "experiment" child, etc. She really was a joyful baby, and a terrific little girl. Of course we had our troubles in the late teens, but she is a competent and smart young woman now. I pray that she falls back in love with Christ as an adult. I pray that God would put new Christians in her life. I pray that she drives safely, that she makes wise choices and that she always feels the Master's Touch of Love. It's all I can do now that she is an adult. Yes, she does things that I'm not happy about, but I'm sure that some of my choices didn't make my mother happy either. The Lord is LORD of all, even our bad choices...and He alone can use all things for His good.
Going to make some cookies so we can celebrate...

Melissa enjoyed Christmas home with her family!
She will be starting treatments next week, please keep them in your prayers...Especially her dear husband, who is also coping with elderly ill parents

Melissa has come home! She is soaking in the tons of hugs from her girls and catching up on cuddle time with the baby Snow Prince! They are still unclear as to future plans regarding treatment options, etc, so please continue to pray for them, click on her link there-------------> for further updates, etc...thank you all once again for lifting this dear family to the Lord of LORDS!!! |

firstly again, thank you to ALL who read this blog who have lifted this dear family up in prayer! Praising HIM, the Wonderful Counselor, The Mighty GOD!!! for the work HE is accomplishing thru these dear servants of His!
here is a small snippet from Melissa herself: "I want to make it clear that we have complete peace in God's plan for us and our family. I realize that God has the power to heal me completely but I also know it isn't His will to always do that. Our goal is to be vessels to bring glory to God in whatever way He chooses. With the tumor as large as it is and placed where it is, I very well may loose my motor functions permanetly but we are going to do what we can. We do plan on trying radiation, but if they get off at all they will destroy my memory. Curtis and I have talked about this extensively and if we feel that is at risk we will stop treatment. Even if it means my true timeline comes down to five years(that is what the internet said) I want to KNOW my family"
There are many people both local to them and around the country via HK's and other boards that are taking care of Christmas for them...it has been truely inspiring to see how women of the Word come together for their sister's needs even though most of us only have an internet bond. This is a truely awesome thing!
Melissa will probably be home on the weekend awaiting and praying about the many life changing desicions they must make. Please remember to check her CaringBridge site or here or the many other HK ladies blogs here on HSB...we all have the link button with Melissa's beautiful picture there in our sidebar. things are not progressing well. But our GOD is a Mighty and Loving God and all we can do is rest in His wonderous and sometimes puzzling Will for our lives.

Melissa had a setback over the weekend, her seizure activity has increased and she went to ICU...they are seeking second opinions on their options. The tumour supposedly will respond well to chemo and radiation...Dawn has also been posting updates about the family
her girls are worried, they miss their Mamma...
over at HK's we are organizing their Christmas since they had no time to think about that before this occured. I will be bold enough to say that if you feel led to help out this family in any way please email me, and i will direct you to the source. They are ministers of the Gospel, and their resources are limited.
thank you for lifting them before the Throne of God!
UPDATE as of noon on Monday:
the meds haven't been able to completely control the seizures and she has lost some control of her arms. They are looking into wheelchair options. PLEASE keep them in your prayers! |

this was the update this morning...please continue to pray for this family! thanks
"9:55pm, Tuesday: Melissa is out of surgery, but not out of recovery yet. It went as expected, and the results were what they expected. It is a Level 1 cancer (means it is early and has not spread--what they would hope for!) They will meet with the oncologist tomorrow morning. Please continue praying for the dc. Marilyn has been in tears a couple of times, esp. as with all the changes, they did not get to go visit at the hospital as planned AND Curtis couldn't come home. Also, the friend I've talked to a couple of times now (lives just down the road, who will be taking Isaac with her tonight) has promised to keep me updated as they get reports. Lastly, they have found 4 nursing moms who are pumping for Isaac right now. Since there was dye in Melissa's system, and now possibly cortisone, too, and then the radiation and chemo to come, she may not get to nurse him any more--it is still an unknown a bit. They are doing 1/2 donated milk and 1/2 goat's milk at Melissa's request." |

a dear friend from an online message board has been diagnosed with a brain tumour and will be having surgery today (DEC 6) her husband and the family serve the Lord in Teen Challenge in MO, her name is Melissa...i will update this as i hear more

i read the original post wrong...she has an INOPERABLE tumour and will be having a biopsy later today
