my continuing computer troubles

Posted in blogging blah blah

anyone have a Mac that they would like to donate to me?

no, really, i'll take an Apple any day...i have always wanted a Mac.

our first computer was a gift to my kids from the in-laws...i lobbied HARD for a Mac, but since they were buying, and my BIL is a staunch PC man, i lost

i have to stop and say that i haven't ever actually PURCHASED a computer at all...every single one was given to us

our next two were from a friend who had just upgraded theirs...PC again. But it was an upgrade for us too, so we were happy.

our next one (current) was a donation from a local law office to three homeschooling families. again, an upgrade for us (to the dreaded Win98SE)

the hard drive has already been reformatted once since as soon as we went to cable internet we became infested with viruses and spyware that wouldn't come off

starting to have the same persnickety virus and spyware problems again. there really isn't any money for anything new, Mac or not. WalMart has those zippy little eMachines on sale for $400...ha, ya! we don't have $400

anyhow, not to bemoan my finances, my Outlook Express is toasted beyond repair. I tried IncrediMail yesterday, but alas, no matter how much dern fun that is, it has waaaaaaaaay too many spyware problems for me...not to mention the constant freezing of the computer. So i uninstalled it this morning and downloaded Eudora 6x

and it seems pretty nifty so far...at least it's actually SENDING out my email

my hubbyman, who could really give a rip wether there was a computer in our house or not, just shakes his head when i regale him about the computer woes i have...but he did buy me a Lexmark X1100 scanner/copier/printer for Christmas! I think he's happy to not have to make copies at lunch time anymore

so, i can vicariously surf the Apple web page since my Big J will be getting a nice iBook after graduation...he'll need it since he's going into the Arts program...you knw how those artists can be  (note to HSB staff...we need an artist smilie icon)

so in any case, if anyone knows of a lonely iBook, or iMac that needs a good home...email me

and no, Gena, i don't want a puppy instead!

and again, kudos to AmyBeth

Posted in blogging blah blah

i have gotten sooooooooo many comments on my blog and firstly thank you! the real accolades belong to AmyBeth, as she took pity on this old hippie mamma who thought that computer classes were a waste of air in high school!  Her link is on my side bar in friends and down at the bottom where my graphics credits are...please let her know what a beautiful job she did!

Posted in blogging blah blah

so, i will add back all m y other "hippie" links and be satisfied for now (and i can still play over at hippiechyck2!) and if anyone can explain how i make a blinkie into a link, well,  let me know!
