i was offline for a few days, and BOY did the LORD open my eyes to alot in a short time...alot i really didn't want to see so my time online will be limited...i will continue to blog, but i will be giving up several message boards, etc...*SIGH* but i can and have stayed online for many hours while my young ones just while away the day arguing, watching TV, or whatnot...and then i squeeze in some schoolwork to smooth over my ego this week we are working on a little unit study for Holy Week...and i fully intend on getting it DONE then we will be on to Acts in our Bible study...i got my materials from Lamp and Quill, and i am quite excited! I'm also going to treat myself to my OWN copy of The Complete Jewish Bible...i had borrowed my cousin's for a while and decided I really need my own... then we are onward with Colonial America, the War for Independance and all that i also added a link button to the Notebooking Nook, a great site! there's many freebies for Mystery of History, plus a few packets for sale...i'm especially eyeballing the Primary Copywork Pages oh, and if you go over to my Xanga blog, there's a contest for a Dyson Vacuum...yes! a DYSON!!!
blessed week everyone! |

we had a very slow, partially sick week, so we spent alot of time watching TV it snowed about 10 inches here...have i mentioned how very much i dislike snow year after year? well if i haven't, rest assured i am NOT in love with the white stuff...nope, not at all. I think it would be wonderful if snow could gently fall then disappear...that would be a good thing we have a field trip Monday to an Indian museum...if we can get a ride so i'll probably brave the cold and snow to get groceries today instead of tomorrow...then we can have a nice Sabbath even if some of us are less that healthy dreaming of a beach...Blessed sabbath and weekend to all! |

Biblical Feasts and Holy Days, level 3/4, Teacher's edition free PDF eBook! looks like tons of fun! Homeschool eStore has many terrific downloads very reasonable and always a great choice of weekly freebies! check them today, you'll be happy!
i listed my Sept/Oct reading list at Totally Hippiechyck...don't make me type it out again here
I completed my first week study of "Introduction to Things Messianic" from TNN Online...VERY interesting and lots to think about and pray on. With all that has been going on here at home with my Mom, sons, etc, it was SO good to get into a meaty study!
Big J, currently a BORED freshman at Kutztowwn, is considering a transfer to Full Sail in Orlando, Florida. He should hear by the end of the week to early next week all the details of when and all that...so until that's all finalized....yes, you guessed it...he's coming home
Mr M will also be going away to school...Job Corps for Auto Mechanics Certification, and he can take either diploma courses or his GED...this is a HUGE load off my mind as my Mr M has been somewhat of a bundle of trouble the past year...and he needs to be away from bad influences, KWIM? This is a great opportunity that i NEVER thought he would have.
And due to all the hub bub above plus my Mom being so gravely ill, we have NOT started our Creation unit study from HOW yet...oh well, it gives me a few more weeks to try and find a few of the books *snort!* We DID start our local co-op, and even though i was sort of dreading it...it has been really great for the young ones! the first week, they were rather rowdy, but the boys (about 20, ages 6-12) made bat houses and the girls (about 7, ages same) made blueberry jam. The follwing week they switched...20 boys in a kitchen is...ummm....well, it all worked out and nothing has permanent staining or anything
anyhow, it's been a very full life....and i have lost 6 lbs and been stuck at 150 lbs for 3 weeks, BUT since i've been exercising, i fit into jeans over the weekend that i haven't worn in over 2 years! (but WHY did i still have them???
be extremely blessed this week! Shalom! |

i finally got a pic of the big lug!
he's the "community bear" and he's probably about 500 lbs or so...he was hanging around in my yard for a while before he got bored and moved on. Interesting things you find when you live in the mountains

i know you are all really waiting on this
the oral surgeon...very tall, very young Italian fella...but very nice to a nervous old lady whose blood pressure was 179/120
he was happy to pull it out if i chose but he very kindly encouraged me to "save the tooth". It has very healthy roots, it isn't rotting (well, the part with the huge cavity is
and penicillin for the infection. I left with my throbbing tooth and two prescriptions. I will be calling my NJ dentist so she can gloat over my tooth. He says i have about 4 weeks to get it done before the infection starts building up again. The nurses were very kind, even the one hulking over me with a hypo full of novacaine. And the cool beans xray equip was neat too...yes, i am easily amused, even in pain
oh, and Stinkpot finally sent my shirt! Now i have my blogging shirt with JenIg's John Hancock on it...i can rest easy now with my shirt and Voicodin |

didn't come out!
apparently taking a picture of a 500 lb BLACK bear at 5:30 in the morning isn't a good idea IF you want to actually SEE the bear...oh well, you'll just have to trust me, the darn thing is HUGE!!!
weigh in again tomorrow...hoping the scale budges a tad, you all know how that cycle week can be (unless, of course you are male, so ignore said comment) but i FEEL better...especially today since i'm recovering from our CHALLENGE. Yes, the benevolent leaders of our message board's Biggest Loser Contest give us a CHALLENGE to do on Tuesdays. This week's was "Chair Lifts"...squats, using a chair for the guide for your rear end
815!!!!!!!!!!!
now, please (as you wildly applaud my lunacy) think about this fact...some of the women did almost as many as that PER SESSION! Yes, i didn't know there were such mega-women in this world, much less all congregated on one message board! I could barely walk upright yesterday, and let's NOT mention the stairs or the potty...i'm feeling much more up to snuff today, still a tad sore to the touch though...no one is sitting on this lap for a few more days
so, looking forward to what the scale says tomorrow...because if it went up, it has GOT TO be newly formed thigh muscle!
Till the Morrow!
8/18 ETA: lost HALF a pound! better than none or gaining! |

for us anyhow
we have been a one car family since November (i don't count Big J's 6 cars in on that (and yes, he has bad car karma)) but thankfully, as hubbyman is an auto body fellow, we were offered a car from the shop. We picked it up on saturday, and here's the oficial "it's MINE!" picture of the day
yes, that's yours truely in the Boat, as we have been affectionately calling it...it's a 1990 Buick Estate Wagon, and it's an ESTATE...errr, i mean it's HUGE but relatively fun and easy to drive...my hubbyman is so the best in the whole world (yes, Jen, even better than Geo, although i know you'll differ
Young J and Mr B in the back, enjoying the spoils
we then "cruised" for a spell, as we are wont to do...we are such car goobers (okay, there USED to be a car in the graphics)
then we went to shop at WalMart, and let the boys ride home from t here in the jump seat...yes, that seat way in the back that alot of you remember from childhood...we putthe groceries in the MIDDLE! *snort*
all in all we had a blast! even though it's not a "new" car, it was such a blessing to recieve! And now i can get to Sheila's house for coffee! (iced decaf in the treehouse!
be blessed! |

**copy warning...some of this is from my Xanga blog**
wahoooo, here come da weekend!i am SOOOOOO looking forward to this weekend, but i have no idea why really, just that hubbyman
at any rate, we do NOT need the rain as the Delaware River has finally receeded and the poor people who flooded again are finally getting back home and on their feet...it was awful and we definately DON'T need any more rain! at least the torrential variety
Big J is planning a road trip (see below) to Florida, with a stopover in Virginia Becah for the Warp Tour concert we all have very strange car luck around here
which brings me to OUR second car update: our GIANT Buick wagon will be arriving next weekend it's looking like...i was really hoping for tomorrow, but hubbyman needs to finese it a bit (new plugs, battery, etc) before we take the monster up here, because up HERE it will be staying...no road trips in this baby till gas is back under $1.50 a gallon which won't ever be again in THIS lifetime...but at least i'll be able to be out and about if i NEED to (like getting over to my friend Sheila's for a decaf frozen latte) i havce ALWAYS wanted a big old Buick wagon, complete with fake wood paneling on the sides...can we say "Brady Bunch"??? i'm really looking forward to navigating the mountain roads in that and MAYBE we'll take it on our annual Woodstock adventure
homeschool update: there's a new co-op starting up around here, which is really good...hubbyman gave me the go ahead to check it out, with the admonition that i cannot get overly involved (like heading up something or another) he's a wise man
diet update: 3 days on The Lord's Table and it's going well...i have tremendous support on my online community, especially with Kirky, who apparently has some sort of fruit phobia that i am gently helping her overcome...she may just make me get over to the LARGE state she lives in and force feed her cherries
be incredibly blessed this weekend! |

we had a delay in celebrating Young J's 7th birthday, and here's the highlights
the dino cake (let's just say i don't work for Wilton)
the happy birthday boy and Mr B who needs to be in almost every picture
the boy and his present (CHCHC'ers don't take note of the mess i never got rid of
we had a fun day shopping for the bike and it's accessories |

-having a graduated "adult" in the house actually means that he is never home
-having an ALMOST 7 yr old who is crocodile crazy means you revamp your school plans to study crocs for a few weeks
-having a 3.5 yr old who has suddenly aquired a mini battery powered ATV means you need to hide the helmet or they walk around all day with it on
-canceling eDiets before your 90 day enrollment costs you $25
-having a cousin who MET JenIg and all doesn't mean that your signed Tshirt will EVER arrive in the mail!
-running a Fantasy Lit board means that all your members will nag you to DEATH until you read the completely boring Hobbit and LOTR series just to save face and SAY that you read it
-starting a Xanga blog is about as addicting as it is HERE!
i shall write more upon the morrow about my week...how poetic, huh??? |

then we went grocery shopping...my hubbyman is snoring away as i type
Blessed Memorial Day!

a cyber friend, sammycakes, self-publishes a "zine"...actually TWO...and i'm so happy to be recieveing them to "officially" review! i have long admired her work (she makes lovely rag dolls and cards and journals!) so i am happy to watch my mailbox for the zines! So keep your eyes peeled for the official "Eclectic Domestic" review! She also has a neat blog, linked above
i haven't been "random blogging" in a while now...i'll have to get back to some of that later this week
i'm officially two weeks behind in my school schedule, but that's okay...when we do sit, we make alot of progress...we made a homemade periscope today out of a Cheerio box and two mirrors (if any of you have seen "The Sandlot", you know what i mean) and we are now enjoying SpongeBob
i started a message board for those of us who love fantasy literature last week...Sleeping Dragon Cove...anyone interested in chatting about Harry Potter, LOTR, Amber, Pern, etc is welcome to come on over and join us. Just remember it is for people who ENJOY that kind of lit...don't drop by to try and change our minds about it
we also had a chance this weekend to come across a few CAMELS of all things! whodathunk that CAMELS could be found in Orage County, New York??? well, here's photo proof that they are there!
yup...it was weird
and here's a nice picture of my oldest, Miss K and two youngest, Young J and Mr B
yes, she goes tanning regularly...we visited my Mom, since we were all sick last weekend and she cannot afford to be sick...she's having enough health issues without a bad cold or flu
i'm highly doubting that my weight ticker will move on Wednesday...i have really been "off" the wagon, so to speak. I'm quite frustrated with my low resolve in this issue...especially when i DO feel so much better following the vegetarian McDougall Plan ....the flesh is totally weak!
be blessed! |

i mentioned him last month since he's a stinkpot who is going to get to meet JenIg and co. at the Florida convention....
well, i invited him to come a join my new message board for fantasy literature fans, and he sent me this reply (you may want to cover young eyes)
so Jen, now you know who to look for at the convention...remember to avoid oak trees at all costs! |

but it was better than average...we found we actually COULD do things that didn't require a plug or batteries
so hoping for a MORE free week next week...we have to get started on that next KONOS unit ya know...ATTENTIVENESS! and how can we pay attention if the TV and computer are on? we CAN'T!! at least i know that much going in...
alos getting better weather around here so we need to start spending some time daily outside...which also doesn't require plugs or batteries
i have to finish my puzzle that i got for an early Mother's Day present...i love puzzles but haven't done a big one in a VERY long time...so of course i picked the hardest one i could find here ...
this is a great site for all kinds of puzzles, and i have a mat to carry it around with me too...except that this is bigger than the mat i bought
so anyhow, have a blessed weekend everyone! i'll update my ticker next Wednesday (hopefully DOWN and not UP!) |

head on over to Cottage Primrose and congradulate the bride to be! i'm sure she hasn't blogged in a while, but that's okay...she's getting married TOMORROW!!!!
and also go to her Mom's blog to peek at the various wedding attire SHE made...simply georgous!

i stayed the same...hmmm, i wonder why?
i have been a little heavier on the dairy issue this week than i was the first week. Maybe that's the reason
i had a few things to write down re: funny things my kids said to me...i KNOW what Young J said today cracked me up, but i can't remember it to save myself!
Big J, on the other hand, can slamming into the kitchen the other day (while i was in full CHCHC sweat) and says this:
"MOM!!! i have to thank you! Thank you for being so beautiful, because if you weren't go good looking then I wouldn't be!"
he has always had this small humility problem...he is SUCH an image of my father...which can be a really great thing, or a really bad thing...you know how that goes
and for those of you interested, my Harry Potter Essay is up at the Leaky Cauldron. i am trusting that no matter what your view, if you read the essay and would like to leave me a comment it will be civil. I will delete anything that i deem nasty or an attack. If you read the essay, you will see full well that i understand the opposing view and admire those who stand firm in their choice of literature for their families. So read, enjoy, think and be nice!
in other news around here, i am almost done with "Crunchy Cons" and then, in no particular order my TBR pile shall consist of: The McDougall Plan (vegetarian lifestyle) No Compromise, a bio of Keith Green Creative Correction, by Lisa Welchel Dragonflight, by Anne McCaffrey, the first "DragonRiders of Pern" series re-reading Marilu Henner again as well as at least 3 of the Harry Potter books...they are always a great thing to fall back on!
reading with Young J and MrB if he'll listen: Cowboy Sam The Voyage of the Dawn Treader Blood and Guts Helen Keller
we will also sometime soon be dissecting an eyeball...don't ask me WHERE i'll get one since i hear that the local butchers won't GIVE them out any more due to Mad Cow Media Spin...maybe i can get a sheep eye instead...maybe JenIG has a goat eye laying around unused? gotta LOVE KONOS ....i was so happy to see KONOS getting an award in TOS magazine as well as my other favorite curriculums, Sonlight , Math-U-See and Ambleside!
and my last rambling, thoroughly unnecessary question of the day...
who is weirder, Tom Cruise or Michael Jackson? |

i seem to be stuck in the swirling vortex of cyberspace today...and my WHOLE stinkin' post seems to have swirled off there too!
okay, to recap...
here's the hutch clean:
the down side is that my teens have done something nasty to my camera and it won't upload my pictures to my computer properly. so i have to figure out what went wrong (and the Fuji web site is no help at all!) so i can start taking more "after" shots...amazingly, i DID walk through and do all the "before" ones the other day. I'm taking the day from the challenge today because i'm in day one cycle mode and i have allowed myself a day on the couch to read
i have started reading Marilu Henner's 30 Day Health Challenge (WHY is everything a challenge?) and i'm loving her thought, her program, etc. I know that this is a good thing and what i have been wanting to do for a LONG time...but i can't get past the first day of the "start up" phase...probably due to the raving PMS at the moment...but i'm really hoping to get in gear with that over the weekend. I'd love to join her website, but i think it costs $$, so i'll have to pass on that for now...maybe she can just come over and make my meals for me for a few weeks....
i'm also starting the book "Crunchy Cons"...i'll post my thoughts on that when i finish it, but it looks right up my alley...my hubbyman thinks i have FINALLY gon 'round the bend....
and hubbyman also brought the mail hoome, which included my bible studies from Lamp and Quill which look to be wonderful! If you are at all familiar with either Bible Study Fellowship or Community Bible Study, you will like this study! They have a 6 year cycle through the Bible, and each year is broken down into 4 quarters. You can start anywhere, and i got the first quarter of Year 4, which starts with Psalms, and then goes through the Book of John.. I got an adult study for myself (and hubbyman if he wants) and a PreK for Young J and preschool for Mr B. I'm VERY pleased with the quality of the younger study pages...nothing "cutesey", KWIM?? i vcan get cutesey at WalMart, i'm glad they left it OUT of the bible study. We all will be studying the same passage, same day, for the 13 weeks...i'm quite happy with this! i wish i could remember who told me about it! We also recieved our Abeka Reading and Phonics program too...i'm so happy!
now off to curl up with a blankie, put in a video or put on Nick Jr and read away the day... |

i really need to stop this sillieness!
I intended on posting a monthly reading list when i started blogging. But really, a monthly eBay list is probably better, so at least somewhere there's a list of all the money i spend on that site!
In my defense though, i did sell $25 worth of books, so it sort of works out
so my purchases this month?
i won a lot of scapping stuff for $20...tons of paper and stickers and stuff...the same gal also had a set of 12 sissors for $12, and i asked her if she'd give them to me for $10...heeehehehehee!!! so i have paper AND sissors coming...i was hoping today but because of some silly president there's no mail...hmph!
now i'm waiting on my purchase for today...Vegan Planet, a great cookbook that i got out of the library over the weekend and decided that i wasn't copying out 15 recipies, i'd just see if it was on eBay...yup, it was, and i have another hour till i have it
so, i also joined ANOTHER message board, a scrapbooking group on MSN...lots of cool looking ladies, and they even have a prayer corner...they have all kinds of fun stuff to read, pictures of pages and stuff...i'll learn alot. i'm just looking forward to my eBay box...what i don't really want to do is go and find my box of 10,008,366,402,937,465 pictures that aren't filed (oh wait, the older ones are on the bottom) but i already have a great idea for my first book...i need a webpage that i can print song sheets off of, and hopefully i can find my wedding song (is Leo Sayer still popular????) and others and i'm making a "soundtrack" book...okay, not so original, but music is so integral in my life...any song i hear can transport me to the exact time i heard it the first time, or to a fun time that it reminds me of....even the Air Force song (here we go, into the wild blue yonder....) reminds me of my dad, so much so i can almost smell his scent...that would be a great page! the AirForce song and a Zest soap label
i also have lost almost 3 lbs...i was hoping for more but stressful doings around here last week i let get the better of me. i am determined to not allow this situation to steal my joy in Christ or my hope that it will all turn out fine in the end. He knows all about it and that's all i need to know...He'll take care of the rest (another great song, BTW)
and i still do not want a Gena puppy, just in case there was any question about that...
okay, i'm off to check my auction...too bad i can't ever find a great deal on a Mac on there!
ETA: WON IT!!! |

so, i decided i would like to start scrapbooking...why? you may think? well, it's easy, really...
I'M BORED SILLY!!!!!!!!
no, really, i have MORE than enough to do with my time, but that's just it...i would really like something to do to relax. i used to cross stitch...i love to cross stitch. i still have at least 6 projects undone
okay, that LAST one should really say it all, but honestly, i just can't get into it any more...i need to do something that is creative, that's affordable and that the boys can do with me...they simply cannot handle small needles and threads...i love paper and all that fun stuff... my favorite part of working at the resource center at our old church was all the Ellison die cuts i got to do (okay, cutting out 200 letter "L"'s for VBS was alot of work) i'd love to get myself an Ellison machine, but i'm digressing already and i just STARTED this entry!
i have tons and tons and tons of pictures...ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!! i even have some at our old house! (inlaws still live there!) i am very disorganized about these things...but i also love to start new stuff. you heard that, right...START new stuff. i rarely finish.... one of those fault-type hereditary things i have
really, i can start with my wedding album, which is in a very dated faux-naugahide covered photo album, with no fun embellishings or ribbons...then there's the 3638940583524 pictures i took of my dd, the first born, the 29836 pictures of son #1, i'm not sure if i have any of son #2, then there was 9 years when i didn't have any babies to take pictures of, then along came chilren #4 and #5 so there's alot of them too...maybe i can lie and say some of the ones of my dd are actually child #3, but there i go rabbit trailing again...so you can see (or hear) that i have lots of pictures laying about and doing nothing...i even have some from our 2 trips to Florida and my one glorious trip to California. i even have a newspaper clipping with a picture of my dad with the airplane that was on our front lawn for almost 10 years! imagine being able to prove a silly thing like that!
i'm just feeling an ebb in my creative juices...i love to blog, but i have to think deeply before i write stuff (oh STOP LAUGHING!!!!! AFTER ALL YOU ARE READING IT!!!!) i love to read, but i tend to have tunnel vision when i'm immersed in a tale and the house could literally burn down about me before io would notice the firemen dragging me from the couch (so long as my book isn't wet) i'd love to write a book, but Gone With The Wind and Harry Potter are already written and selling well. I totally can't sew unless it's a straight line and i'm none too good at that...i haven't drawn in a very long time and i have reverted back to stick figures. So here i am, stuck on scrapbooking. Do any of you watch Carol Duvall? she always gets me wanting to start some fun crafty stuff or another...but i think i should be safe with scarpping.
so, let me hear from you if you scrap...what are some of the things to get to start out with? (besides and Ellison die cutter) what are some of the things you must have? things to avoid? favorite places to shop online or off? there's so much to find out about! i'm so excited! i can't wait to have a whole bunch of paper all over my house not doing anything! |

and Betsy has her own blog here at HSB
i really do not like being a one-horse family...even worse, i don't like to drive with too many people except my hubbyman...i'm really getting weird as i get older aren't i???

i'm not UNhappy about that, at least we can chat Harry Potter again, but i was surprised that he so quickly decided he was not really getting anything out of KU...but he was already wishing he had applied at Full Sail when he did the "big road trip" in August to visit his friends there...who were already doing "recording labs" and were only there less than a month...
)
) i'm determined to get below that this week! Denise Austin, here i come!
just under the threshold for an extration, BTW...
you get the point

that's dad alright!
