About The Hunters
My dear sweet hubby, Ron, and I have been married for 20+ years. We began dating during my freshman year at Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville. He is my college sweetheart. We have ministered together in various ministries during our lives together. We pastored for 10 years in Florida. We moved to TN in 2000 to Co-Pastor with some friends of ours. The Lord has given me a fabulous provider whom I love more than any words I write could ever express. He is now the CEO at our denomination's publishing company, Randall House Publications. I am honored to support him.
Our oldest child is named Michael. He is now officially a teenager, although I don't think I'm old enough to have a teenager. He is a very sweet and considerate young man. He is my thinker and my reader. He absorbs every piece of new information that he comes across. He loves playing soccer, riding his bike, skateboarding, reading, watching the History Channel, the Military Channel, ESPN and any documentary on TV. I am privileged to be his Mother.
Lauren is our youngest child. She is just 15 months behind her brother in age. She is wise beyond her years. She has a sharp-witted tongue (which sometimes has to be tamed), a quick sense of humor and a heart for people and animals. She loves organizing anything and everything. She loves being with her friends, singing, talking on her cell phone and playing soccer. I am blessed to be her Mother.
Just the knowledge that a good book is awaiting one at the end of a long day makes that day happier.

Ok - I intended to blog each day while in NYC. However, Ron told me that I needed to put a few days between our visit and my blogging about it. By the time this entry is complete you will understand his wisdom behind that statement. I will also be sharing pictures in an entry by themselves.
The Good things:
I learned that I love being pampered (what woman doesn't?) Ron had a limosine pick us up at the airport and Laguardia to the Waldorf. WOw!!! I do have pictures of this that I will share later this week.
I got to spend a lot of one on one time with Ron. We were celebrating our 20th Anniversary. Well, actually our anniversary isn't until the 20th of next month. But this fit into our schedule better. Ron had been to NYC before and wanted to share it with me. I wanted to go somewhere that we hadn't been before. So, I chose NYC.
We stayed at a historic hotel - the Waldorf-Astoria. They offered a historic tour of the hotel but we didn't get a chance to take the tour. I wish now that we had been able to do that. I will look some things up on the internet and see what I can learn after having been there now.
I found some great deals shopping - but not quite where I had hoped to find them. We spent the first day going to the shops and boutiques that I wanted to go to - which I KNEW would be waaaayyyyyyy out of my price range. I ended up spending nearly ALL of my money at Macy's - something I could have done at any one of our malls in Nashville.
I got my best friend the greatest gift in the world. I can't tell you here what it is because of obvious reasons. Let's just say that it is what she wanted. And I was happy to oblige.
The Bad Things:
I hated leaving the hotel. There are SO MANY people there. My stress levels shot up as soon as I walked outside of our hotel room. A while back I heard on some TV show that NYC was the friendliest city in America. To that I say - BALONEY!!!! People are on a mission - rushing to get from point A to point B with no concern about who gets in their way. Not one time did anyone smile at us on the street. They would just as soon run you over as look at you.
I'm sure all of you have read about driving in NYC. Let me tell you it is 1000% worse than you were ever led to believe. Everyone is so impatient. And the horn blowing is RIDICULOUS. The drivers will blow the horn just to blow it. Again - IMPATIENCE. They will blow the horn if the light turns green and the person in front of them doesn't take their foot off the brake fast enough. Lauren is all the time telling me to blow the horn at someone who is irritating me when I'm driving. Well, she would be happy in that city. I'm forever telling her that it's rude to blow the horn. AND IT IS RUDE TO BLOW THE HORN!!!!!! EVEN in NYC!
The boutiques that I was so excited about going to don't sell clothes above a size 10. For anyone who knows me - you know that it has been a very long time since I have even DREAMED in a size 10. I was extremely disappointed. Those stores that you see on What Not To Wear? Forget it!
Sounds Interesting! I hope to make it to NYC someday, but I suspect the rude crowds will effect me the same as they did you. Can't imagine how people live there and raise children?
