My dear sweet hubby, Ron, and I have been married for 20+ years. We began dating during my freshman year at Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville. He is my college sweetheart. We have ministered together in various ministries during our lives together. We pastored for 10 years in Florida. We moved to TN in 2000 to Co-Pastor with some friends of ours. The Lord has given me a fabulous provider whom I love more than any words I write could ever express. He is now the CEO at our denomination's publishing company, Randall House Publications. I am honored to support him.
Our oldest child is named Michael. He is now officially a teenager, although I don't think I'm old enough to have a teenager. He is a very sweet and considerate young man. He is my thinker and my reader. He absorbs every piece of new information that he comes across. He loves playing soccer, riding his bike, skateboarding, reading, watching the History Channel, the Military Channel, ESPN and any documentary on TV. I am privileged to be his Mother.
Lauren is our youngest child. She is just 15 months behind her brother in age. She is wise beyond her years. She has a sharp-witted tongue (which sometimes has to be tamed), a quick sense of humor and a heart for people and animals. She loves organizing anything and everything. She loves being with her friends, singing, talking on her cell phone and playing soccer. I am blessed to be her Mother.
Just the knowledge that a good book is awaiting one at the end of a long day makes that day happier.

I have
decided to go with Indian in the Cupboard since it's the end of the
school year. I will begin next year with Johnny Tremain.
I've gotten good reports on both - so I feel good with using both of
them.
I have looked at the paces we have left for the school year and
realized that we are a bit behind in a few subjects. So, the kids
are having to do twice as much work in a few of them. They are
complaining but doing it anyway. We are compromising on a few
things though. I'm pretty flexible. Not as flexible as they
would like - but nonetheless flexible.
Here's what we did today:
English: They took the pace test on 1053 yesterday. Michael
got an 88% and Lauren got a 94%. We started pace #1054
today. The goals for this pace are - to review compound nouns and
subject nouns - to review action verbs and verb phrases - to review
personal pronouns - to learn direct objects - to learn to diagram
direct objects. They will be learning about honesty. The
memory verse for this pace is II Corinthians 8:21 - "Providing for
honest things,...in the sight of the Lord,.." They did 4 pages in
their new paces.
Word Building: They took the pace test on 1065 yesterday.
Michael got a 90% and Lauren got a 98%. I was very pleased with
both of their grades. I think the new ACE software program really
helped Michael. We started pace #1066 today. They will be
learning the "ou" and the "oi" diphthong spellings and about compound
words. They will be learning about loyalty. The memory
verse for this pace is John 15:13 - "Greater love hath no man than
this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." They did 5
pages in their new paces.
Social Studies: This is one of the subjects that we are changing
up a little bit. We were a bit behind for the year. So, I
am skipping the next 5 paces (they cover a bulk of Old Testament
history). So, I stopped them halfway through the pace we had been
working on - tested them on what they had learned so far. They
both did very well on this test - scoring 100%. We started pace
1068 today. This pace jumps us up to the New Testament history
beginning with the Life of Christ. We will cover the period of
time from his birth to his death. They will be learning what it
means to be persuasive by helping others to understand what is right
from God's point of view. The memory verse for this pace is II
Timothy 2:25a - "In meekness instructing those that oppose
themselves." Today they used their Bible Dictionaries to look up
some new Bible words and match them to their correct meanings.
These are new words they will be coming across in this pace.
Science: They did a check-up in the current pace. They
reviewed bacterium, single-celled organisms, lower plants, various
types of bacteria, reproduction of bacteria, spores on plants and the
fermintation process. They also did a page of identifying new
vocabulary words they would come across in the second half of this pace.
Math: We started learning about Common Factors yesterday.
Common Factors are fators that are the same for 2 or more
numbers. For example: The factors for 9 are 1,3,9.
The factors for 12 are 1,2,3,4,6,12. The common factors are 1
& 3. Then we learned about the Greatest Common Factor.
The greatest common factor for 9 and 12 is 3. They did several
exercises on finding common factors and greatest common factors.
We had a very good day full of learning!!! That's the name of the game called School!!!!!
