About The Hunters
My dear sweet hubby, Ron, and I have been married for 20+ years. We began dating during my freshman year at Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville. He is my college sweetheart. We have ministered together in various ministries during our lives together. We pastored for 10 years in Florida. We moved to TN in 2000 to Co-Pastor with some friends of ours. The Lord has given me a fabulous provider whom I love more than any words I write could ever express. He is now the CEO at our denomination's publishing company, Randall House Publications. I am honored to support him.
Our oldest child is named Michael. He is now officially a teenager, although I don't think I'm old enough to have a teenager. He is a very sweet and considerate young man. He is my thinker and my reader. He absorbs every piece of new information that he comes across. He loves playing soccer, riding his bike, skateboarding, reading, watching the History Channel, the Military Channel, ESPN and any documentary on TV. I am privileged to be his Mother.
Lauren is our youngest child. She is just 15 months behind her brother in age. She is wise beyond her years. She has a sharp-witted tongue (which sometimes has to be tamed), a quick sense of humor and a heart for people and animals. She loves organizing anything and everything. She loves being with her friends, singing, talking on her cell phone and playing soccer. I am blessed to be her Mother.
Just the knowledge that a good book is awaiting one at the end of a long day makes that day happier.

Those are the sounds my stomach is making today because I started a "diet" this morning. Why is that water tastes better when you drink it because you WANT it and not because you HAVE TO drink it? And I am sooooo hungry! GRRRRRRRR
Anyway, Ron found a website (well, actually a friend told him about it) that helps in the weight loss process. It is www.nutrimirror.com - it figures your caloric intake for the day to reach your goal weight. Randall House is starting it tomorrow. They will make it a contest. They will weigh in once a week and record their weight gains/losses on a board for all to see. At first I said I wanted to come and participate as well. Then I regained control of my run away brain and have decided to keep my weigh in numbers here at home. I have agreed though to post them on the wall for all to see. Thankfully here only those who HAVE to love me and who I can ground if they laugh at me will see it!! I am, however, contemplating keeping the countdown here on my blog as well. I will see if I can find some of those countdown sites I used to use on my blog.
Since competition is not an incentive for me - I don't really care about whether I am ahead or behind anyone else - Ron has offered me an incentive I understand. First of all he asked me what my ideal weight was. I told him I wanted to lose 100 pounds. He assured me that this was too much. Even though in MY head it seems perfect. I have chosen a more realistic weight. I'm not giving any weight amounts right now. But I will say that my goal weight is 58 pounds away. The site encourages you to lose one pound a week. So, I am expecting it to take 58 weeks to reach my goal AND my prize!!!!!
Ok - that's accountability people!! Wanna join me? Check out the site and jump in with me. YOu can even come over here and step up on my scales that are now in my kitchen once a week with me if you want!! Come one - Come all! Let's all get healthy!!!!!!!
Now I'm going to have another glass of water. Yummmsloshyummmslosh....
I am giving serious consideration to doing the WW Core Plan. Does anyone have experience with it? I have looked over the list of foods and it looks very doable. I have done the whole Points program before. I am not interested in counting points again AT ALL. But the Core Plan appeals to me. So, I'm just wanting to hear from those of you who have done it or are doing it. I want to hear the good, the bad and the ugly. Something has to change for me. I'm searching for not just a "diet" but a life change. The Core Plan seems to include the healthy choices of foods.
Also, I have read someplace that there is GOOD carbs and BAD carbs. Does anyone understand that? Can you explain it to a very unhealthy, fat (and getting fatter everyday) girl? I want to make good choices.
I've had a number of people ask me about the cleansing diet that I mentioned in an entry a few days ago. So, I thought I would just plug the program in here. It is a program that my Clinical Nutritionist created years ago. He recommends it for all of his patients. Let me know if you have any questions. I will answer what I can answer.
Fresh Start Program
When the cells of your body are clogged up with toxins, ACID – SUGAR – MUCUS – PUS – etc. you have no pep, your appetite is poor, you do not sleep well, your complexion is bad, your eyes are dull, you suffer from aches and pains, you are nervous and irritable, you feel indifferent – everything seems wrong. Life is not as fulfilling as it once was; in fact, you really are ill.
The sensible and logical thing to do is to clean out and detoxify, not just the digestive tract, liver, and kidney, but all the cells. Purge these cells – get all this accumulated toxic material out. Follow these recommendations for 7 days and get ready to enjoy life again!
Breakfast for each of the seven days
Fifteen minutes before you are ready to eat breakfast, squeeze the juice of a lemon in a medium glass of hot water and drink it.
Carrot Juice – 8 oz – You can take more if you desire, but be sure that you take 8 oz at least.
2 hard boiled eggs
Fresh fruit – one-half pound. You may eat more, but be sure to eat at least 1/2 pound. You can eat only one kind of fruit or you may mix (no bananas or avocados – as it may cause constipation.
Between breakfast and lunch you should drink all the vegetable juice you can hold. (recipe at the end) Also eat fresh, raw vegetables and fruit. The more of these you take in – the more thorough will be the cleansing. Make up a lot of vegetable broth. Drinks lots of the broth. It is full of minerals.
Lunch for each of the seven days
Vegetable broth (for the “flushing” effect) – drink 2 cups during the meal
Salad – make a chopped salad of fresh raw vegetables. Use a dressing of oil, lemon juice, vinegar and salt. Eat al least EIGHT LEVEL TABLESPOONFULS or more if you desire. Use four of the vegetables listed below. You may sprinkle flax seed on your salad.
Artichokes, asparagus, beans, beets, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, cucumbers, celery, endive, egg plant, fresh corn, fresh green peas, green peppers, kale, lettuce, okra, onions, parsley, parsnips, pumpkin, radishes, rutabagas, spinach, squash, swiss chard, tomatoes, turnips
Dessert – fresh fruit
Between lunch and dinner drink all the vegetable juice you desire. Eat all the fresh fruit and vegetables you want. Drink lots of broth.
Dinner for each of the seven days
Vegetable Broth – drink 2 cups during the meal, more if you desire.
Cooked Vegetables – Select 2 or 3 of the different kinds listed previously and sauté them with olive oil. Eat a generous helping of each (NO POTATOES – due to increased glycemic index)
Bread – one medium slice WHOLE GRAIN BREAD – no butter
Dessert – fresh fruit
If you feel hungry after dinner, eat fresh fruits and vegetables and drink vegetable juice or water – ALL YOU WANT!
Recipe for vegetable broth
Take 7 carrots and 1 small bunch of celery and cut fine. Place in 2 quarts of hot water and boil for 15 minutes. Add 1/3 bunch of parsley and a large handful of fresh spinach, cut fine. Boil 10 minutes more. Drain off the juice or broth. Flavor with a pinch of salt, okra, tomatoes, green peppers or garlic. Mix with 1 quart of V8 juice (low sodium).
The above recipe makes about one day’s supply. You can make more if you desire and place in refrigerator. It can be used hot or cold.
The purpose of this broth is to FLUSH. Drink lots of it during the seven days. It is full of minerals from the vegetables.
What to expect from this program
The first day you may feel slight discomfort by having changed your regular mode of eating, but do not allow this to disturb you, for it is natural. About the 3rd or 4th days the bowels and kidneys will begin to move freely. Much toxic material will be passed. There may be symptoms of headache, perhaps nausea, gas and a few aches and pains but do not be alarmed. Nature is merely cleaning you out. These symptoms are quite natural and to be expected. About the 5th day you should start to feel a surge of energy. Continue on until the end of the 7th day.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.
If you start this program – STICK TO IT!! Don’t try it one day, then quit. Follow the instructions and reap a wonderful reward of moving towards a healthier you.
Patients with diabetic tendencies will have to replace much of the fruit with vegetables, as the fruit may raise your “blood sugar” to unacceptable levels. Limit your fruit to 1 serving per day.
