Things That Make Me Smile

Seeing the kids reading their Bibles on their own
Hearing the ocean
Smelling a cake baking
Remembering our wedding day
Singing in the church choir
Shopping for my family
Feeling good
Reading in the tub
A quiet house
Watching a funny movie with the kids
Seeing my kids playing a game together
Ron's little finger dance
Hearing my kids being excited about church
Watching Ron play with Faith (our dog)
Hearing Ron snoring beside me after he has been gone on a long trip
Chatting with special friends
Feeling hot sand under my feet on a beach somewhere
Game night with Brian & Kim and kids
Spending one on one time with Kim
Double Dating With Brian and Kim
A clean house
Sitting on my front porch in my new rockers
Walking on a cool evening with my family
Losing weight
Seeing my kids make a great play on the soccer field

About The Hunters

My dear sweet hubby, Ron, and I have been married for 20+ years. We began dating during my freshman year at Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville. He is my college sweetheart. We have ministered together in various ministries during our lives together. We pastored for 10 years in Florida. We moved to TN in 2000 to Co-Pastor with some friends of ours. The Lord has given me a fabulous provider whom I love more than any words I write could ever express. He is now the CEO at our denomination's publishing company, Randall House Publications. I am honored to support him.

Our oldest child is named Michael. He is now officially a teenager, although I don't think I'm old enough to have a teenager. He is a very sweet and considerate young man. He is my thinker and my reader. He absorbs every piece of new information that he comes across. He loves playing soccer, riding his bike, skateboarding, reading, watching the History Channel, the Military Channel, ESPN and any documentary on TV. I am privileged to be his Mother.

Lauren is our youngest child. She is just 15 months behind her brother in age. She is wise beyond her years. She has a sharp-witted tongue (which sometimes has to be tamed), a quick sense of humor and a heart for people and animals. She loves organizing anything and everything. She loves being with her friends, singing, talking on her cell phone and playing soccer. I am blessed to be her Mother.

Saturday Six - 11/24

Posted in Saturday Six

Yes these are the Saturday Six questions from LAST week.  But you know me - I don't tie myself down to a schedule.  hahahaha

1. As a general rule, are you more stressed or less stressed during the holiday season?

I'm usually more stressed during the holidays because they are so busy.  I don't like to be busy.  I don't like having a schedule.  So, when I have a lot on my calendar it stresses me out.

2. Do you tend to be happier or sad during the holiday season?

I get depressed during the holidays - like this past week was rough.  But stress leads me to depression and as you can see in my previous answer the holidays stress me out.  So, of course, I'm going to be depressed.

3. How much shopping did you do on the day after Thanksgiving?

Absolutely NONE - like every year.  Too many people for me.  I prefer to go during the week days when all those people are at work and I have the mall/stores to myself.

4. Take the quiz: What color is your brain?

Your Brain is Blue

Of all the brain types, yours is the most mellow.
You tend to be in a meditative state most of the time. You don't try to think away your troubles.
Your thoughts are realistic, fresh, and honest. You truly see things as how they are.

You tend to spend a lot of time thinking about your friends, your surroundings, and your life.

5. When it comes to Christmas gifts, how organized are you in terms of gift ideas and choosing the right ones for the right recipients?

We are fairly organized.  We have a budget per person with an envelope for each person.  We put the CASH for that person in their envelope.  When we buy something we put the change back in the envelope as well as the receipt.  I ask everyone for a list of things they would like.  I try to buy from that list.  This year will be a little different.  But I won't go into that now because I want it to be a surprise!

6. What was the most inaccurate part of the answer you received to the brain color quiz?

Saying my thoughts were fresh surprised me.  I think they are all quite stale actually.  But the rest of it was pretty accurate.  I am fairly quiet and mellow.  It fit me very well.

Saturday Six - Restaurant Experience

Posted in Saturday Six

1. As a general rule, how much of a tip do you leave on a normal night of satisfactory service at a restaurant?  I usually leave a 20% tip.

2. What happens when the service and/or the food is completely unacceptable: how much of an impact does that have on your tip?  I don't usually hold it against the server if the food is bad.  But if the service is bad you can bet their tip will reflect it.  I have left NO tip before.  How much can a server expect if my glass stays empty more than it stays full?  Come on!!!

3. What was the last food you picked up from a restaurant and ate at home?  Probably wings from The Wing Zone on Murfreesboro Rd.  If you ever come to Nashville be sure to try their wings.  They are the BEST!!!!

4. Take the quiz: What’s your pizza personality?

Pepperoni Pizza
Robust and dominant.
When you go for something, you go full force.
You tend to take control of situations easily.
And in return, you get a ton of respect.

5. What was the last dish you tried to cook yourself based on a dish you sampled at a restaurant?  Cook?  Me?  I don't cook.  Therefore, I don't recall if I have ever attempted to cook something based on a dish at a restaurant.

6. How close to the original recipe did yours get?  Who knows!

Saturday Six - 8/11/07 - FOOD!!!

Posted in Saturday Six

This is an appropriate Saturday Six set of questions today since I am eating anything that is in sight.  IF you are interested in participating in the Saturday Six meme click on the graphic in my left sidebar.

Here we go:

1. What is your favorite flavor of chicken wings? How many do you generally order at a time?

I love teriyaki chicken wings.  If I'm really hungry I can eat about 15 or so with RANCH dressing. Yummmmmmmm  Haven't had those in a while.  I think this upcoming week will call for a trip to the Wings place one evening since the kids Sylvan schedule will ease up with school starting Monday.

2. How often do you check out a restaurant’s nutrition information before going there to have dinner?

I never check out the nutritional information.  I'm too afraid to know.  Ignorance is bliss.

3. If you have ever done so, what was your biggest surprise in reading the calorie or fat counts?

I have been surprised by the amount of sugar in things you wouldn't normally think would have sugar. But I'm not a calorie counter.

4. Take the quiz: What does your pizza say about you?

You have a hearty appetite. You are likely to complain if a restaurant has small portions.

You aren't particularly picky about pizza. It's so good... how could you be? You fit in best in the Western part of the US.

You like food that's traditional and well crafted. You aren't impressed with "gourmet" foods.

You are generous, outgoing, and considerate with your choices.

You are unadventurous and boring. You should consider staying home when taking a vacation.

The stereotype that best fits you is geek. You're the type most likely to order pizza to avoid leaving your computer.

That is all pretty accurate actually!!!

5. What style of food do you think is generally served at what you’d consider the most romantic of restaurants?

Fondue - The Melting Pot - without a doubt the most romantic restaurant!!

6. What type of food would you be likely to sample first: food that is hot and spicy or food that is more mellow but has a richer taste?

I have very mild taste buds.  So, I would have to go with food that is more mellow but has a richer taste.  Hot and spicy food are just NOT FOR ME!!!  Ask Kim about that one!!  heeheeheeheehee
