Workboxes
I am sure I will move everything around in the room 100 times before I can get it just right for us. We are starting the workbox system this week, so hopefully our school day will go more smoothly! This is what we have so far...12 boxes for Keegan and 12 boxes for Kyleigh.

School Days in Kodiak
Here is Kyleigh using her math cuisenaire rods with her new book. She really loves doing this activity, but I am thinking about taking the advice of another homeschool mom who suggested putting all the pages in a 3 ring binder with page protectors so they will lay flat...much easier to work with!

Here is alot of fun math activities and games that we use, having them all in one space keeps us organized!

Keegan's drawing of ocean life for her Apologia notebook. We are starting the new science book this year and so far we really enjoy it.

Kyleigh is decorating a folder to keep some of her Five in A Row printables in...she drew a huge giraffe on the front implying she wants to read The Giraffe That Walked To Paris..again, lol!

Getting things ready for the History fair!
Tomorrow night we have our local homeschool group's History Fair! Keegan has been working hard on her project....The History of Alaska! We may be moving there this summer, so it is fun for her to get to know more about the state. She made a salt dough map, read books, and wrote a paper on it. She learned about the Iditarod, the animals, and the Northern Lights. We did tons of craft projects and had lots of fun with it!

History Fair
Keegan had a great time doing her project on Old Salem in NC. We took a field trip at the beginning of the school year there and she really remembered alot just from looking at the pictures we had took. We had bought a coloring book there so she had pages to color and a great paper to write! She liked working on it and I think she felt very proud when she got the certificate! She said next year she wants to stand up and read her paper... like the older kids did, lol. I think the Lemon Moravian cookies won everyone over!

A New Coat for Anna
Here is another favorite book of ours that we loved reading. Its called A New Coat for Anna, and it goes through the process of making a new coat for a little girl. The little girl visits the sheep and learns how long it really takes to make something new. She learns how the wool is dyed with Ligonberries to make a beautiful red color! We bought some ligonberry jam and had it with our pancakes...yummy!

Ladybugs!
After we were done with school, we went outside to play and found tons of ladybugs in our frontyard! Keegan put all of them in her bug catcher, then we watched them climb all over sticks and tall blades of grass.
