Hollylooyah: A Homeschooling Adventure

• Apr. 27, 2006 - Noah is a little worker.

Thursday, April 20

Noah was so cute today; he really wanted to drive the car.  Different times throughout the day, we would come out to the car and he would be in the driver's seat, playing with the steering wheel.  So... cute, but safety wise, we need t o keep the car locked.  Especially if we were to get both of the boys in the car alone togther... that might be bad!

Anyway, he sang "Pop, Goes the Weasel" in unison with me today.  He put up a fight for me today to drink.  He took a few sips of Diet Coke and a few of Pediasure at first.  Then he ended up drinking 6 oz. of Pediasure throughout the day, so that was great.  He was really enjoying his swing immensely.

Andy has been so creative and adorable.  He has a little dragon that he married.  Her name is Fancy Peterson. She gave him a little black rubber wedding ring and he takes care of her.  He swings her and carries her around.  We put a little polka dot ribbon on her neck... it is such a cute thing.  She gets blamed for a lot of "accidents" though.  It is just like Mr. Nobody in Family Circus.  He made some really cute art where he just wrote all of these D's out with paint.  Very, very cute.

Pascha Weekend

This was ANOTHER extremely busy weekend.  When will the business end?  All we want to do is to be able to lie in the hammock, play with the kids, read books, walk, maybe make a little hummus or salsa and CHILL.

However, the weekend, although busy was nice.  We really enjoyed the family time and the beautiful weather.

Monday, April 24

First of all, Noah has learned to stim with his books... which is really hard, because we all are avid book lovers, collectors, readers, etc.  I mean we have books everywhere.  So, I am just trying to stay on him to use them appropriately.  He enjoyed reading Wocket and asked for me to read it to him.  He has been talking quite a bit and our new goal is for him to verbalize six times a day for three weeks on a row.  4 out of  7 days that is.  He drank about 3 oz of Pediasure, which is great.  He did all kinds of talking today.  I am so proud of him.

Tuesday, April 25

Today was another good day.  He was actually requesting to lick different food items, like sour sugar candy and Pediasure.  He would say, "Luh, Luh, Luh."  And he also would request to have me pull the straw out so he could lick it.  "I want it out."  From now on, I probably will not journal everything that he says, simply because I chart it somewhere else.  If I am able, I might scan those records in, so I have them all in one place... but we'll see if that happens!

Biggest achievement of the day????? Noah went potty FIVE times today.  We have moved to an every hour schedule and today it paid of bigtime!  I mean talk about having a successful day.  I don't think I ever would have imagined that he would be able to do that, and yet... HE DID!!!!!!  I can't tell you how happy that makes me.  Today the team worked... Well.

He went potty for Scott when Scott got him up.  Plus, he woke up dry.

He went potty for me.

He went potty for Terrin.

He went potty for Jen.

Then he went potty for Scott when Scott got home from work.

That just goes to show what a well oiled machine-like team can do when we all work together.

I am working on -What's your name? Noah.- trying to get him to say Noah-- even if it is in a intraverbal, rote way.  That's how you start, right?

Wednesday, April 26

What a weird day, after Tuesday's successes.  We had to spend the morning at Walmart, because I hit the curb IN OUR OWN DRIVEWAY! and got a flat tire.  So, Noah and Andy got new toys, we ate at Subway in Walmart, and Deanna and I entertained the kids all morning.  GRRRR... ohwellitcouldhavebeenmuchworse.

At night, however, Noah was trying to say the names of the animals in DEAR ZOO all by himself.  He would lift the flap and say the appropriate animal.  To the untrained ear it might have sounded like gibberish, but if you can understand him, doggone it, he was saying the right animal with the right picture.  Scott said that he said, Camel and Monkey.  Cool!
