Hollylooyah: A Homeschooling Adventure

• Sep. 25, 2006 - Week 1, and 2-- Back to School!

Sept. 11-15 was a fun week.  Noah and Andy were excited to start school.  Andy has started Teach Your child to Read in 100 easy lessons.  I have done a few lessons with Noah too.  Noah has been working on making s's and m's and he has been singing lots of songs... really saying the words too.  He has consistently been going potty at least one time a day which is fantastic.  We hardly even have to work at getting that one time a day any more.  I think it is time to make the transition to Pullups and then we will go from there.  I think that with his braces, I will just put one pullup on him a day and then see how long we can keep him dry and then put a diaper on him after that so we don't have to take off his braces and redress him.  No sense in making this an aversive experience.

Sept.  18-22  This was Noah's birthday week so we celebrated all week.  We went to a comic book coffee shop, the science center, a fun drive where we went to see an underground railroad house, and lots and lots of playing outside.  We also had a wonderful family birthday party that was very warm and joyous.  Noah received an accordian, boomwhackers, a lollipop drum, a book, a fleece sweatshirt, bells and a kabasa and a nose flute (interesting :0)  and a really cool BIKE!  He has been tearing up the parking lot at Plymouth Congregational.  It has made our fall a delight.

Andy has been working on his reading, but it is coming very hard for him because he literally cannot sit still.  I don't know if it is age, gender or and attention issue.  He enjoys playing UNO right now and counting as well as lots of dramatic play and video games on the Cartoon Network site.
