October 2-7
October 2- Today we went to the Learning Post and got several new things. We bought a new copy of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and a board game to go with it. Andy got a bow and arrow ; we bought a few other things as well. When we got home, we played the caterpillar game (Andy, Noah, Grandma, and me).
October 3- Really into books today.

Then Noah and I played a game Loterie des Clowns (no language involved). We also did some nursery rhymes and Old MacDonald using the animal figures. He verbalized 35 times during our session. We worked on our letters: S,M,A. He said the sounds for M (1) and A(4) which was fantastic. Noah drank 4 oz. today.
October 4- Noah drank 3 oz of Pediasure while reading Sally. We worked on our tactile letters and sang the __________ says ______ song. M,S,A: Noah said M and A. S seems to be really hard for him. We worked on tracing horizontal lines and small verticals. He also wrote M,S, and A and traced Noah. He had 59 verbalizations and went potty 2 times during the morning.
October 5- This started out a really rough day. I haven't been feeling well, and their have been some behavior problems that have been wearing on me. But we were able to pull it together and get some school in. Today we did Hey Diddle, Diddle with a little drawing activity. I am trying to encourage Noah to draw more intentionally... even if it is by rote! He has been wanting to draw on his own outside of school time and his scribbles are taking some little writing marks. I remember when Andy's drawings did that at about 2. I know that drawing is something that will come in their own time, but I would really like to get more out of Noah. Speech, drawing, music, singing... some signs that he is interacting with his world. We did some tracing. He had a few tantrums and vomited so I had to bathe, change him, and clean up the workroom. We went on and did more school because he seemed to be really open to it.
We had a busy weekend. We went to Burlington, and went to a birthday party as well as going to the mall and playing lots at the park. The kids rode in the car really well. There really wasn't even one meltdown in the car from either of the kids... so that is a BIG improvement!!!

Noah’s Homeschool Program

1. Eating:
Goal 1: Noah will be able to eat the equivalent of one feeding a day for 14 consecutive days. REACHED!!
Goal 2: Noah will be able to eat the equivalent of two feedings a day for 14 consecutive days.
Goal 3: Noah will be able to eat the equivalent of three feedings a day for 14 consecutive days.
Goal 4: Noah will be able to take 10 bites of Pediasure with a spoon for 14 consecutive days.
Goal 5: Noah will accept another item of food for 10 bites from a spoon for 14 consecutive days.
Notes: Work towards the 16 ounces of Pediasure a day for 14 consecutive days. After this, begin the next goal. The next goal will be for Noah to take one taste a day… two tastes, three tastes, four tastes, five tastes, etc. of Pediasure by spoon once a day for three days in a row. After three days at each step, we will move to the next step. After we reach ten voluntary bites of Pediasure by spoon for three days in a row, we will move to the thickening step by taking two ounces of pediasure to a teaspoon of yogurt. This step may need to be modified once, the consistency is decided upon—we need to experiment before making a final goal.

2. Potty: Noah will urinate in toilet consistently 10 times per week for 4 weeks. Continue to aim for putting Noah on the potty once an hour, (focusing on using BMs and feeding to help us gauge exactly when we need to put him on). By July 31, we will have experimented with two days of wearing only underwear and pants (no diaper)

Future Notes: Currently 8 times a day for four out of seven days for two consecutive weeks. Working towards 30 verbalizations at which time, a clicker will be used for verbalizations and only Unprompted Speech will be counted.

3. Floortime: Run one probe a week of one half hour, testing how many circles of communication that we are closing.
Who is involved: Holly will run this once per calendar week, aiming for Thursday
Visual Performance: Because of frustration on Noah’s part, we will take a break from this area until the end of July.
4. Receptive Language: Noah will readily come or look when his name is called, 8 out of ten times for three consecutive days.

Imitation: Think about what the next goal will be in this area.
5. Vocal Imitation: Noah will readily be able to imitate almost any sound, word, sentence or song when asked. This goal will be considered met when Noah is given 30 opportunities within a four hour period three days in a row. Accurate and specific records must be kept.

6. Requests: Noah will be able to request with a prompt 10 or more items with item present for three consecutive days.

7. Labeling: Due to Noah’s skill level, this area will not be worked on until F2 is met.

Goal 1: Noah will be able to fill in the blanks for 10 different phrases, for three consecutive days.

9. Spontaneous Vocalizations:
Observation 1: Run an hour probe of how many minutes per hour Noah is making spontaneous vocalizations.
Observation 2: Continue to write down all intelligible spontaneous vocalizations a day.
Intervention 1: Provide opportunities to watch Veggie Tales, Dr. Seuss, and listen to simple songs on CD that Noah may motivated to imitate.

10. Syntax and Grammar:
Observation 1: When recording Noah’s verbalizations, keep track of how many words at one time he says.
Observation 2: Keep track of the syntax (word order) of spontaneous verbalizations.
Who is involved: Holly will analyze the recorded information already gathered daily.
11. Play and Leisure:
Goal 1: Noah will be played with purposefully using toys for fifteen minutes a day four days a week. (Adult only)
Goal 2: Noah will mutually interact with Andy for 10 minutes a day, four days a week, for two consecutive weeks.

12. Social Interaction:
Goal 1: Using Andy’s play session and times with other children at church, park, company, neighbors, etc, we will begin to push the boundaries to work up to 30 minutes of close proximity with another child while behaving appropriately. Keep Records.
NO RECORDS, BUT NOAH IS ABLE TO PLAY WITH/NEAR KIDS FOR UP TO TWO HOURS!! I NEED TO UPDATE THIS GOAL.

13. Group Instruction: Noah will sit for ten minutes in Sunday School or story time at the library without disrupting the group, or leaving.

14. Classroom Routines: Noah will be able to stand in one place for one minute once a day for three consecutive days. LINES, WAITING, ETC... NOT TOO MUCH CHANCE TO WORK ON THIS.

15. Reading: Noah will be able to identify A B C D E F using pointing or “give me”. I will be using the tactile letters, flashcards, wipe off cards, magnet letters, and playdough.

Goal 1: Noah will be able to maintain his ability to make lines on paper when asked.

18. Dressing: He will continue to work on dressing skills when getting dressed in the morning, while toileting, while getting ready for bed, and when at OT. The next goal area is to maintain the ability to pull up and down pants, take of and put on shirt when started, take off socks, and take off jacket. He should be working towards putting on a pullover shirt independently.

19. Grooming: Noah will work towards washing and drying hands independently.

Goal 3: Noah will be able to fold a piece of paper.

22. ABBLS Assessment: By July 31, Holly will run an entire ABLLS assessment on Noah and will use this to update new goals.
OOPS, I PLAN TO DO THIS -- HOPEFULLY THIS WEEK
23. Preliteracy and Pre-writing: Holly will do some research on Ball, Stick Bird and Handwriting Without Tears, in addition to looking at some other literacy/writing programs.
SO FAR HAVE BEEN USING TEACH YOUR CHILD TO READ IN 100 EASY LESSONS (MORE LIKE 1000-FOR US, BUT OH WELL!) I HAVE BEEN SUPPLEMENTING WITH TEXTBOOK BASED PROGRAMS AND WORKBOOKS AS WELL AS MY OWN MATERIALS... SO I COMPLETED THIS TASK AND CAN GO ON TO THE NEXT STEP.
Holly will continue to stay current with her homeschool journaling, and will have regular and thorough communication with all therapists and SCL workers. It is important that everyone attend meetings regularly and that everyone stays positive and consistent.
