Hollylooyah: A Homeschooling Adventure

• Nov. 16, 2006 - Halloween and November begins!

October 30-November 16

10/30

Noah opened a ziplock 2x's with no help.  Ann Bender came today-- she gave me her e-mail annbend@childserve.org.  We did our red and blue treasures... he did really good at this!  He drank 3 oz.  We worked on tracing lines and A.  We did our alphabet song.  Is Ziplock mastered?  Unprompted he asked "play" three times.  We did our fall poem/blowing, Old MacDonald, and Sing a Song of People.  He colored.  27 verbalizations.

Trick or Treat was really fun.  Noah was Superman and Andy was a dragon.  They were so adorable and did a great job trick or treating.  Noah would say bye when they would leave a house after taking candy.  And Andy told a funny joke.  What does the skeleton say before dinner?  Bone appetit!  It was very cute.

10/31

3 oz of Pediasure.  He was very giggly.  34 verbalizations.  We did our season rhymes, Old Mac Donald, Jingle Bells, and Christmas Carols.  We did tracing A,a and lines.  We worked on coloring inside a circle.  We did a maze.  We read Giddyup Let's Ride.  We did bubbles, and Crocodile Dentist, and worked on imitation for "chomping" and hands up.  Noah met his potty goal!!!!!! He had four weeks in a row of going 10 times!  26 verbalizations.

11/1

3 oz. of Pediasure.  He went potty and was dry!  He traced lines, letters, and his name.  He is really doing a lot better with tracing horizontal lines.  He asked several times "Pie."  He was asking for A Was Once an Apple Pie by Edward Lear.  He loved it.  We played Zingo and Crocodile Dentist.  He enjoyed playing and he put away Zingo nicely.

11/2

He drank less than an ounce.  Not as interested in schoolwork, but did do his horizontal tracing.  Are You My Mother?  We did a cutting and gluing activity.  We did Red and Blue Treasures, Night Rabbits... I am now going to attempt to get him outside to play!  43 verbalizations!

11/5

We went to Jordan Creek.  We went potty their on the potty and drank some water.  He had great transitions even on the escalator.  He did nice talking, played in the playland and sang.  26 verbalizations.

11/6

Tracing, talking.  A was Once an Apple Pie.

11/7

I am going to put Andy in preschool, so I spent a lot of time calling preschools.

11/8

We toured the preschool

11/13

Andy's first day of preschool.  We also had a family work day.  I got my bedroom cleaned and organized!  Noah read lots of books.

11/14

Andy did school with us.  We did lots of tracing and stories.  We did Little Miss Muffet and the boys worked together to make a little book.

11/15

Out of town for a funeral.  Noah did a nice job of playing around other kids and rode in the car nicely.  Noah had a BM on the potty!

11/16

27 verbalizations!  Less than one ounce for me and 3 ounces for Terrin.  Andy did school with us again.  We reviewed A and started B.  We did our ____ says_____ song.  Did lots of tracing lines and letters.  Andy did a dot to dot while Noah colored.  We did Jingle Bells, Angels We Have Heard on High, and Frosty the Snowman.  We did Little Boy Blue and Little Miss Muffet.  The boys watched Olive the Other Reindeer and Caillou.  Noah only took 11 sips for me, but he was dry and went potty.  We took a break and then did Red and Blue Treasure sorting and I introduced the pattern blocks to sort also.  Then we did two patterns to imitate.  R,B,R,B and R,R,B.  We did Sing a Song of People and read some poetry.  It was a full morning.

Wow!! Sounds like a great week. It seems like Noah is really thriving by working with you. How did the rest of the week go for Andy at preschool??

It sounds like things are going great for you guys! What is your schedule like? Are you available to do a play date sometime? I think the boys would have a fun time together.

Call me!
Blessings,
Karen
