I am so glad I’ve found this site. I was reading posts in a Yahoo group and noticed someone had placed a link to their blog here. I was curious and clicked on it and was amazed at what I found….like minded people sharing wisdom, laughter, sorrow, teaching ideas and more. Since I signed up I have spent much time reading entries and posting blogs. I hope to be a blessing as much as I’ve been blessed by others here. Thank you for developing this site.

Leave a testimony

I love blogging here at HSB. Even though it spans around the world. It feels like a close small community. I love the friends I've made. I like reading about their homeschool and life experiences. I usually learn something or get a great idea for homeschooling from a blog. I enjoy sharing my life goings-on, too. Sometimes I blog too much, but I love it and I'm learning to blog in moderation.

Thanks for the opportunity,
Michelle

I'm back and have a messy house!  by Christina
I am really excited to be back to my blog! Since stopping blogging, things around here have kept going at a fast pace. We have started school already. We have a little over one month completed. I have begun a new schedule of three weeks on and one week break. I love it because it always seems that by week three, I am ready for a break and need it desperately! I have been more involved at church and am meeting so many new people. One thing an older lady said to me(I like to refer to her 'type' as a (more)
I have a right to be mad!  by Hemloca
I shall regret this later I know, but at the moment I don't really care. At the moment all I want to do is complain, so I think I shall. See, it is like this. I guess when I fell off my bike, rather was thrown off in the harshest manner and then danced on my it, I hurt myself worse then I thought. I have this sharp pain right by my coller bone, fear not it is not broken, just sore.  So, here I am, walking partly bent over and going as slow as an elderly lady. I can (more)
Faith’s Birthday Celebration  by Susan's Life After Homeschooling
Faith’s Birthday Celebration Faith doesn’t turn 9 until Sunday, but decided to celebrate early while all the cousins were together.  It was her idea to have an Olympic theme party.  The idea just took on a life of it’s own.  The morning started with a fishing derby.  Schylar caught the largest and Isaac caught the most (4) and the most unique.  We broke for lunch and to watch John McCain introduce us to his running mate, Sarah, who impressed us all. Then the afternoon competition began with the official call to the 2008 Snow Pond Olympics.  The athletes proudly marched (more)
Our Extra Curriculars-Since someone ask  by Leah
MrsDarling  asked if I would mind telling what my kids extra curricular activites are and I certainly don't mind at all .  I just didn't want to drone on and on in my original post  My daughter is passionate about theater.  She has been doing shows since she was 8 years old and feels just at home in the theater as she does in her own house.  Her extra curriculars are -dance (ballet, point, and this year tap) -vocal/acting lessons -speech -teen choir at church -helping out in an after school theater program at one of our local elementary schools -A (more)

Catholic teaching at Catholic colleges  by Kris the Musing Mom
I once heard William Bennett tell about the hiring of a conservative theology professor.  One of the comments by a liberal on the review committee was something like, "We can't hire this guy, he actually believes this stuff!" The University of San Diego decided to rescind the Monsignor John R. Portman Chair in Roman Catholic Theology being held by radical feminist Rosemary Radford Ruether.  She promotes the Big Three: women's ordination, gay marriage, and abortion--all of which are against the teachings of the Catholic Church. Liberal activists immediately initiated a petition to have her reinstated and collected 4,000 signatures. Ora et Labora is trying (more)

Heart of the Matter Friday Meme  by Leah
This week the topic is Best Tips For Conquering Clutter I will be the first to tell you this is something we constantly battle in our house.  I am not sure why, but after we moved into this house it became harder and harder for us to stay organized and uncluttered.  I think one of the main reasons it has been so hard is we have literally been remodeling this house since we moved in 5 years ago.  Now that we are beginning to see the light at the end of the remodleing tunnel I am focused on getting and keeping (more)
Are you a cannibal, Daddy?  by Michelle B
My mom is a great cook...I was just a very picky eater.  One of my least favorite meals of all time had to be liver and onions...and I think I've mentioned that on this blog before.  I'm not scarred, really.  Somehow we got on that topic at dinner tonight and David, who shares my repulsion, was explaining to the kids just what liver and onions is made out of...   He said, "As far as I'm concerned, liver should never be eaten" David, Jr (8), "What is the liver made out of?" Daddy, "The liver is an organ in your body that processes waste." David, (more)

I don't like it.  by Crystal Richey
It's too short. My niece decided to give Trista a haircut. She cut the front short and kept the back long, I guess she was going for the mullet look. I had to cut the rest off.   She likes it though. I guess that is what really matters, right?  (more)
Cricket?  by momanna98
Any one know what this is? I was sweeping out my garage of all the crickets and this was with them.  I don't know if crickets have queens?  The wings are so tiny.  I also saw a big grub.  Like the size of a cricket.  Do crickets start out as big grubs?  I can't seem to find any info on the internet.  (more)
Not Just Another Quiverfull Blog Entry  by Christine
There is something to say for long conversations with your best friend.  It may take up time in my day when I should be teaching, cleaning, or some other busyness but I really need these conversations to keep me grounded and to help me firm up what I believe and why.  (Thanks, Jenn) So on to my thoughts for the day.  We are a quiverfull family.  We truly want as many blessings as God sees fit to give us.  I don't know how many that will be, we may even be done, I just know that I find great peace (more)
What is That Smell!!!  by Michelle
I began smelling this terrible smell in our little room.  It is a room off the family room that has shelves of books, the kids toys, art supplies, and our school supplies.   I kept smelling what I thought was a bad juicy cup.  I figured Carter or Kiley must have put one in one of the toy bins or something.  The smell was getting worse and I couldn't find the source.  I told the kids that they would have to sort through each of the containers until it was found.  About 3 bins in, they insisted it was not (more)
